Seasonal Radio Updates

Firstly, I’m very excited about all of the upcoming content in FH5.

Having said that I believe Forza Horizon 5 could really benefit from a seasonal radio station update. The music in these games has always been A1, but it goes from being entertaining to monotonous very quickly. It would be nice if a couple songs were added and a couple songs were rotated out every season just to keep everything fresh. I believe a change like this would help keep the “life” inside of the Horizon universe for longer.

EDIT: At the very least, for the sake of accessibility and user experience, it would be nice to have Spotify integration using Spotify’s publicly accessible API or a radio station that draws upon personal files stored on our own individual gaming systems (Much like Grand Theft Auto does)

What do you think?

That sounds really interesting and definitely unique!

I think it would pretty awesome. GTA games really accomplish this task very nicely and it makes the environment seem just that little bit more authentic

If you agree I created the suggestion in the suggestion forum as well if you feel moved enough to vote for it

Hello

I’d like it to happen, I like Dua Lipa as much as the next man but I’ve heard that song enough now (that is the only song I’ve knowingly listened to of hers). I guess the biggest issue is music licensing can be an absolute pain in the you know what. And probably financially not worth it too, a few songs get added and you’re fed up with them in a week anyway.

I made the suggestion in the suggestion forum if you want to go and vote for it
Aint that the truth. Ive listened to ever song in game, added them all to my personal playlists, played them into absolute extinction, both in game and in real life. Now when I play the game I just do my own thing on Spotify. If anything it would be nice to have Spotify integration in the game or a special radio station that draws from files you have saved in a folder on your PC or Xbox. That way there could still be a Horizon Radio Station broadcaster and skill songs and things like that to make the whole experience more authentic

Broadcasters? Turned them off before starting the game proper. You could listen to a real radio station, they stream on this internet thing these days, too. And skill songs? Turn the radio volume to zero, pick the classical station (longer tracks) and listen to whatever you want.

Besides, I am drowning in points and hardly use them. Doing wacky sh…tuff when the game tells you is not my idea of fun.

To each their own of course. I prefer having the broadcasters on (for the sake of authenticity and they provide some pretty cool info in regards to barnfinds and other things while playing through the story) and I “could” listen to a real radio station but if the aim of modern technology is accessibility then it would be just as easy for Playground games to provide Spotify integration using Spotify’s publicly accessible API or a radio station based around files stored on your own personal device. Grand Theft Auto has been doing this for years now with massive success.

As long as we can rotate out “THE KNIFE, THE KNIFE, THE KNIFE” for good, I’m all for it.

Are you also happy to pay for seasonal radio updates…
They would not be free

yes this is the reason. i work in the industry and music licensing in games is about as nightmareish as it can get legally and financially. the adding of any licensed songs post launch would be considered high effort low reward and thus will\would never happen sadly

I mean, I bought the ultimate edition of the game as well as all related content and have done ever since FH3. But why would I have to pay for it? Grand Theft Auto V regularly updates all of their radio stations and doesnt make me pay for that (at least not directly)

I just have to keep referring back to GTA V as a reference example then. They are able to accomplish this with (what seems like) ease. It would just be nice to see other game devs adopt similar approaches. Especially when (what im assuming) most people get tired of the same tracks after a while. Also what about spotify integration or a special radio station that draws on my own files stored on my own personal device. Surely for the latter, Playground games would face no liability

  Theres a few songs I would rotate out permanently

and it might have something to do with how much they scam out of people through shark cards

if you must why dont you just use spotify in the background like a lot of people do

i usually play with the radio either off or on minimum volume so i stillg et skill songs

I do use Spotify in the background. The reason that I would prefer integration is because I work in the tech industry. The general philosophy of my everyday work is to improve accessibility and capabilities. Running Spotify in the background works, but doesn’t qualify as being an accessible method for listening to music in game. I could easily create a tool that integrates with Spotify’s publicly accessibly API and plays music. The only problem is that I am not aware of Forza Horizon 5 being mod friendly and I wouldn’t have access to any of Forza’s API’s. This makes the task far more suited for the playground games devs to accomplish with their own workforce. So I figured I would drop it in the suggestion box.

Theres an Assetto Corsa Mod that has a very barebones version of Spotify integration as it’s main feature. What it does is get the name of the song thats currently playing on your spotify, and displays it on you car dashboard radio just like how it works irl. IMO its little things like that the help to extend the life of a game.

At first when you said seasonal, I thought you meant it would be something like Autumn, Winter/Christmas, or Summer-y songs! XD

I do agree with this because you can only listen to the same thing for so long, it gets boring after that. If not rotating out the songs, at least give us the option to use our own playlists.
