There’s not a lot of music in Horizon 5, and it’s mostly bad. Just like Horizon 4.
FH 1, 2, & partly 3, had good music, but with 4 & 5 I just mute the radio and listen to my own playlist.
The game really needs better music, Horizon XS has like one good song (bmth - teardrops) but even that is mostly instrumental.
What about adding new Radio stations like Epitaph Records to 5 as a free update or paid dlc.
With the addition of new stations, I think the radio clycler button (right D-pad) needs to be updated.
Holding the button in should bring up a kind of station wheel
While holding right D-pad, the right joystick switches to being a scroll wheel, cycling left AND right through the stations. I made a quick mock up below of the general idea.
We need to make the Horizon Festival about cars AND MUSIC again.
I think I’m in the minority in saying that I actually enjoy the soundtrack in Horizon 5, but it does seem a lot more repetitive, as if there’s less focus on licensing music. The game definitely needs more tracks as well as more radio stations to add more diversity
You can only go so far with an E rating before entire songs become instrumentals. And you can only put so many songs in an entire game before the file size gets too big (there’s also a matter of licensing).
That said, more music (scratch that; more GOOD music) would be nice in order to stave off repetition. The Horizon Mixtape is a step in the right direction, but it also gets repetitive.
On top of all the regular stations like pulse and bass arena horizon 3 had:
Vagrant Records and Future Classic and if you calculate 2 more radio stations they account to about 40 more tracks. I dont think thats impossible or too much for forza horizon
I dont agree here. And it has nothing to do with rating. Considering horizon 3 is rated pegi 3.
Not for me. I use a wheel and there are no joysticks plus the only two buttons - LSB / RSB which are supposed to act like pressing on the sticks - have never been functional or mappable in any Forza game. Something Logitech, Forza or PGG have ever been able to give an answer or solution to.
I was surprised when Mixtape was added, I believed that it were the songs whose license expired for Playground which resulted in PG removing the previous games off the store (they could have either renewed the licenses or the licenses simply didn’t expire for only these songs) (I could also consider car licensing also, but that isn’t the conversation).
On the topic of adding music to the game here are my thoughts:
As many songs as possible is the preferred option (unless it becomes a serious game size or cost to license problem), Horizon is a festival about cars and music and I believe that the music played in the game should reflect this more than it does.
Its fairly obvious that more music is wanted by everyone, it would make the game feel better, how much better I can’t say for sure, and weather its worth it? I also don’t know.
My opinion is only the way it is because I spend more time playing this game than the average player. I have only begun to tire of the soundtrack soon after I had finished the Horizon Adventure. The soundtrack fits the “story mode” well… but after that…
Thank you Playground for adding more music, and the nostalgia has been great, I’m looking forward to unlocking the next 3 songs in the coming weeks.
