I’m looking at the “Level Crossing Speed Trap” leaderboard and a Datsun 510 did 302.88 mph! I can’t believe that an S1 900 Datsun 510 can go that quickly. Just below it is a Rally Fighter that did 301.97 mph. Seriously? How are these guys doing it?
Cheaters on PC using a hacking program.
T10 needs to get on removing these ridiculous times.
Wait a minute. Do PC times show up on XBox consoles?
You can choose in one of the menus if they do or not. Cant remember which menu.
There are ways to run high speeds without hacking.
That camera I believe people are taking advantage of the train launch glitch and a bit of luck and that’s how they get such high speeds.
As far as I know, only the Jaguar D-type can legitimately go 300+ mph with a proper tune and no interference from traffic and Drivatars. And even then, I’m not sure it could do it at that particular speed trap legitimately.
I used to work in the gaming industry. My name is actually in the credits for a specific title as a Senior Security Engineer to combat cheating/fraud in game. The most important lesson we learned is don’t mix platforms. PC gaming is ripe with cheating as most know. It is possible to catch and detect but the game team has to be willing to spend the money to do it.
XBox 360 and PS 3 platforms have been hacked to allow cheating, however, generally that is for profit due to the costs so they generally only do it games where they can turn in game assets into real money or are die hard cheaters.
As far as I know, XBox One and PS 4 platforms haven’t been compromised so I wish there was an option to only show players from those platforms OR show on the leaderboard the players platform.
Ultimately though, cheaters can be easily caught. It does cost money but not as much as game executives think if the developers design the telemetry properly. I’m a little sad that by now Turn 10 didn’t bother to do it.
