Don’t know what’s going on here. Just finished 5 online races in “American Street Muscle” car, got medals (3 gold) and it only registered 2 for the badge (10%).
Doesn’t seem to be working. If you’re going for this, don’t bother…and yes I know what an american street muscle car is.

Edit: I’ve gotten a medal in every race, by the way. Used the '69 GTO and the Olds for the races.
It’s not even updating for me at all!
Mine worked fine with Dodge Dart, Chevy Belair, Super Bee. 3 wins and 15% on the challenge. This was around 3 hours ago.

Only works 1/3 of the time for me. Doesn’t matter what medal. Looking closer, it seems it will only randomly register when you get gold. Not a very accurate challenge description, if that’s the case. Someone wasn’t paying attention. lol.
So after further testing, it only works 1/3 of the time…if you get gold. lol.
I have been trying to work out if there is an explanation for this. I think there is a possibility.
I know if you do it in private against drivatars you must have at least one other human player in the race for the medals to work.
If in an ABC lobby it is possible that you must beat at least one human player in your class. I have not tested this but thought it might be possible.
Mine that worked were in ABC lobbies but in a full C class.
Just completed three C class online races against all human opponents, obtaining one gold, one silver and one bronze in each. After exiting and checking, found that only one had registered (5%).
Car used was the Chev Nova
In conclusion…and after over 45 online races…I would say, if you know you’re not in a position/lobby where you can get a gold medal, don’t bother.
I got over 30 golds (I think 33) and it finally popped (should only need 20 medals). All races in the no-collision B class lobby.
I have noticed the multiplayer lobbies being a little unstable lately. My signal’s great and have never run into lag/black screen/position errors (2nd when in 1st) like I have today. One lobby had a full server crash where the game wouldn’t start after locking up in the lobby (when returning to the dash).
Like I said, it works to a point. FYI.
Ok I can state categorically that winning your class in ABC lobbies against no one does count towards this challenge.
I feel for those with the glitched counter but I can also state that the glitch does not affect everyone. 12 medals here and 60% on the challenge counter.
AudibleJam did you have another counter glitch for an achievement not long after launch?
I have won 4 races with my dodge dart in c class and nothing has even registered
So, the only cars that count as American muscle cars are the new dlc vehicles ? ? ?
None of the standard cars I used gave me any progress towards this…
if you have to buy dlc to complete this challenge, that’s extortion!!!
can anyone confirm which vehicles work for this challenge?

there appear to be 5 standard cars available that can be used, I’ve only tried 1 so far, but it appears to be counting…
2 X chev, an olds and a ponty…
easier than sitting in a lobby for 2 hours waiting for a game …
that’s another issue…
I have not deliberately only used dlc cars by I have a 100% record with Dodge Dart, Chevy Bel Air and Dodge Super Bee.
Tonight I can test with on disc cars to see if it makes any difference. I suspect not. I suspect it is glitching for some people and not others and a this stage I don’t think anyone knows why.
All I can suggest is try doing a cold reboot of your console and pray. For th ecold reboot make sure not games are running and hold the poer button for 5 seconds. When fully powered down turn on and try again.
EDIT: note that people having problems are having problems with the dlc cars as well so not sure dlc is the solution.
I’ve been using the Olds, and have been using the new snap achievement window (not sure if it’s out for the general public yet). I’ve noticed that I only get credit when I win a gold medal - I get nothing with bronze and silver, and since I started paying attention I’ve always gotten credit when I got a gold.
It might be golds only but some posts earlier suggested otherwise:
I can confirm it is gold only and all cars count including on disc.
