I believe you mean the EP4 CTR, as it is the actual prize car and specialty dealer car; not the EK9 which is presently sporting a widebody which no player can change up.
I wonder how many of each are being sold each rotation to see the difference from their first appearance.
One the subject of serial numbers, well I just don’t get it. With real physical items, say like my 1/64 Greenlight Corvette ZR, out of 3000-5000 produced. 80 to 90 are a special chase model called a greenmachine (has certain parts painted green over regular model), I have one and its serial number is 2 and that’s kind of cool to have the 2nd one ever made. Now when it comes to a virtual item like a Forza car, well whether you have number 1, 23,658, or use it from free play, or do all three, its still technically the same bit of data. I see it as me trading my 1/64 diecast Corvette with some one who has number 65, and instead of swaping actual cars we just replace the printed number on the bottom. Plus now there are likely 3-4 other people now with the same number it makes it irrelevant, so I don’t see why it should stop at least bring in other locked cars.
League cars need another why of being earned too, I stopped bothering with the photo comps once I realised they aren’t offered. I don’t know if this is an oversight as they are the only locked cars not available through that competition, don’t quote me on that. Hopefully that covers me from the usuals who bite your head of because you didn’t remember some info quite right.
I see what you’re getting at, here – I’m an avid GL collector, too, and have a number of Green Machines including my fav, the NYPD Fury with green wheels and body – and I totally agree: a virtual Forza SD car gets a VIN, but the amount of these they can “build” is effectively limitless. They are creating artificial scarcity in FM7, and myself and others just aren’t really down with that. I was really looking forward to this feature, but in the end, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing new features to the series, mainly because T10 has never really explained what to expect, or how it works. A little note here or there would go a long way, but as is T10’s wont lately, they’d much rather keep quiet and let us duke it out here.
Another fellow diecast collector here. Chases are in essence a similar concept to the SD; however, in 90% of cases they are produced in limited numbers. Whereas, here like smoothroller said, the “limited” quantities aren’t really limited and are just an endless cycle to drag people in. It gets tedious. I’ve gotten to the point now where I only collect what I like in the diecast world, and if I find a chase piece great, if not at least I found something I liked. It got to tedious to dig through the racks or bin looking at every single car.
The same thing is starting to happen in Forza. I don’t bother checking the SD anymore because I know it is all repeats, which is bad since they don’t really advertise when an actual NEW car is in the rotation.
That’s a nice parallel, Stang. And I’m like you; I’ve never been a guy to go after chase diecasts; HW TH and STH models are just way too hotly-contested on ebay (as are the M2 chases; it seems the Green Machines are a little easier to find in the wild) and I’m not about to start lining up outside a freaking Wally’s at 7 AM because I know they’ve just put a new dump bin out. Plus, I literally don’t have room for too many more so I’m way more specific about which castings/tampos etc. I collect; new HW 917LH? Totally. New colourway of the HW Ford GT? Couldn’t care less. Which I guess also dovetails with the FM7 SD because there are a limited number of slots in my garage, so I just don’t see the need to be logged it at precisely 2PM or whatever to get VIN 1 if I already own VIN (Jesus I can’t believe I’m talking about VINs on a freaking video game forum) number 218,945. Like HW STHs, the fanboys can have it. I’ve got better things to do.
Of all the irritating things about Forza 7 the ridiculous Speciality Dealer and the way it is implemented is the worst. At least homologation & the firesuits/drivers overalls/prize crates are liked by some people even if most people detest them. The speciality dealer however must be hated by everyone. As people have already said the thing repeats the same cars every few weeks, you think you dont have the cars in your garage & then you find you have 2 of the same car.It is obvious that the community hate the way it is setup yet nothing is done to change it.It is embarassing when other websites that promote racing games openly mock Forza for the repeats of the same cars especially when there are cars within the game that few people have seen.
But you are warned before you buy a 2nd one that it will not add to your collection score because you already have one
How hard is it to read what comes up on the screen unless you just mash buttons
Just goes to show that people dont read before pressing buttons
Its the same issue in the auction house when people “accidentally” buy out a car …it warns you first
This isnt anything new …people just don’t read
Just go through this thread…how many times does it get mentioned
It wouldnt matter if the garage symbol was there …it would be the same argument…except they would say why didnt we get a warning…which you do now
It has also been stated ad nauseum that this was a design decision and based on the fact that the serial numbers reset with each iteration that every car is technically unique and you do not, in fact, own the car.
It’s not a great design decision, I agree, and it is confusing; however, I doubt it will change at this point.
It’s absolutely hilarious that six months after release people can’t figure out if they already own a car before buying. It’s right there! It’s literally spelled out for you.
It’s not that hard to understand really. When you have hundred’s of car’s in the garage and many of them sit unused, it’s easy to lose track of them. With that, if I am not sure what I have, I check. Simple really.
It’s not about who grasps what. It’s about poor game design. Every year they seem to take out information from the proper areas.
If you remember Forza 4, you didn’t have to go running around to find out how many cylinders a car has, how much torque, what the displacement is, to what cars you owned.
It’s just poor game design making us have to jump through hoops to find out the info you want.
When there’s several different years of a model, and you own several hundred cars, and there are Forza editions, you can easily forget if you have a car or not. (And older Forzas where you might have owned the car but not in the newer game)
They already have the coding in the game recognizing if you own the car or not(hence the pop up when you have enough money to purchase the car), might as well tie in the house logo to that coding. It’s not hard.
why are people ok with them omitting more and more information with every version of this game?
Or just spend seven extra seconds to see, if you own a certain car from the Specialty Dealer already or not. Forza Motorsport 7 has many issues; you being too lazy to spend a few seconds to see if you have a certain car or not, is a non-issue.
You do realize the criticism is that proper game design like Forza used to have meant not having to take 7 or more seconds to go through other menus to find the info you want.
Therefore, the menus are poorly designed. You can keep defending them, but won’t change the fact that they’re poorly designed. Criticism, however, might actually mean better designs in future iterations of the game.
The focus should be on bigger issues, not you being too lazy or not liking the menus. For 1 to 2% of the players the game won’t even start up; they aren’t even able to see those “poorly designed menus”. Let’s focus on those kinda issues first before tackling things that aren’t good in YOUR opinion. And please, don’t come with a reply like “Well, it’s also a player’s opinion that the game is poor if it won’t start up”. A game not starting up means it’s broken and what’s broken needs fixing.
Too bad people these days like to complain about everything. Sometimes you just have to take the L and enjoy the things about the game you do like.
Perhaps you need to “take the L” and let users post what they feel on these official forums. You don’t get to determine what the “focus” should be. If folks have issues, post on the technical forums like everyone else does. If folks have criticisms and suggestions, then post on this forum. Mods can determine what is allowed on here.
If I had your way of thinking, my game starts up fine since Day One, why should I care for the “1%” who can’t get the game started? Is that on the PC? Then play on the console. See how that works? Thankfully most folks aren’t like this on here. There is room for everyone here.
Although I do agree with the “complain about everything”, it’s a case by case basis. Alot of us “complainers” got VIP changed. Those folks who were telling us it’s “not a big deal” or the shills certainly accomplished zero while the “complainers” got something done.
I’ll still complain about the missing “SS” badges/names on the cars (Chevy, Holden) when new Forza games arrive because there is no need for it. MS/T10 are the only ones who made an effort to do this even pinning Chevy on it, even though that was debunked. Is it a big deal overall? Probably not, but the omission is dubious in my opinion and now they have the “least accurate” SS…I mean “Super Sport” cars compared to other racing games. (GT Sport)
