Spec series events with no tuning allowed

Ive been seeing some streamers that use very strange very unrealistic tuning settings and after the game being available for over a week now they are finishing 20 to 30 secs ahead of all the other players that either arent aware of this or arent as good of drivers. I understand this is allowed but can we get a playlist with evenly matched cars that doesnt allow any tuning?

It would be really great to be able to have a purely skill based playlist.

Spec playlist in mp? Or can you still tune?

Tuning is a skill

In ranked multiplayer, we cannot have tuning options, we should all be equal.

The ability to tune cars in online multiplayer spec races defeats the point in my opinion! It allows players that understand the Forza meta to have a huge advantage which affects competitiveness. We all just want great racing and this feature in online multiplayer is affecting this. All cars in spec races should be pre upgraded and tuned by the Forza team, then locked. This will create fair, fun and competitive racing. Yes, allow for minor wing and brake bias adjustments like GT, either on the fly or through the menu system as it is now. It’s crazy that you can gain 5+ seconds per lap by simply tuning the car in an extreme way that takes advantage of the particular traits of the physics. Also, for those that like to tweak a bit without going too deep (I.e specific track suitable downforce tweaks), this kind of goes out the window when these dominant meta tunes already exist.

To people that say tuning is a skill, yes, but this isn’t a race engineer sim, it’s a racing game, about… racing! If you want to tune then the cars you race then there are open lobbies for this. Please give us proper spec cars!

Well said. Please get this message out. Taking advantage of the physics by extreme tuning is ver hacky and take away the fun of competitive racing. Which you said is what the true fans really want

Dont get me wrong, i agree SOME races should be stock or pre-tuned only… however…

Tuning is an integral part of the racing-car culture, you think F1, WRC, rallycross, baja, dakar, Motorsport, Drag, Drift teams etc… dont tune cars to be more competetive?.. sigh…

As said, i Agree there should be a mixture based on skill level, but to be more constructive how about offer a solution instead of just saying “i dont like it, i want change!”

How about this…
4 rolling multiplayer lobbies:
1 = Tuners Paradise Series - Any car in class, tune it how you want and race
2 = Tuners Paradise Spotlight - As above but Spotlight a car, tune it how you want and race
3 = Racing Regulation Series - Any car in class, all cars are stock with base tune only
4 = Racing Regulation Spotlight - As above but Spotlight a car which is stock with base tune only

Although in doing that the Racing Regulation series/spotlight would be dominated with players just using the same 1 car - the current meta car in that class…

As title says. Can we get default locked tuning setups in featured multiplayer?! I enjoy the game, i like multiplayer. I hope safety ranking system will work in time. But what about tuning? For me, as example, i’m here to race. I’m virtual racedriver, not mechanic. And i don’t understand many things in tuning. Even after looking for guides etc. But that tuning thing take too much time, i think. Every car in every track must have diferent tuning setups for diferent racing styles. Let it be in open multiplayer. But please, if featured multiplayer is more for competitive racing, lock tuning setups.

I would like this too. Tunes seems really important. I found this app, forzatune and it helped me a lot.

I totally agree with your perspective… but I would agree more if they would fix whatever weirdness in the the physics makes weird unrealistic tunes overpowered.

YEP GOOD POINT SHOULD BE MORE LIKE IF YOU HAVE A META TYPE TUNE THEN YOU RACE IN META RACES IF YOU ARE STOCK THEN STOCK … AND SO ON … IS THIS TYPE OF MATCHING EVEN POSSIBLE

How does that make any sense? If you’re not good as someone else, you shouldnt have your hand held and someone else given a handicap because you’re not good at tuning. Why do you feel entitiled to be on the same level as someone better than you? Learn to tune.

The idea is to make the principal racing series of FM (Forza GT, Touring Car, etc.) more equal for everyone.

So just to set a better bop and no tune like they did on GTSport and GT7.

With this, everyone would be able to battle with the other and races would be based on skill and not on the tuning.

And this idea is only for the normal series (Forza GT, Forza Touring car, Formula Mazda, …) so not the spotlight series or the class series which are engineer series like I love to call them.

Yes Hello, Forza Xbox hall of Famer here with many World Record times for a few days at a time. I have the answer to fixing the game. It’s really simple, You make a series of FULL TRACKS, Popular fun tracks. You have them in rotation all day. Now heres the KICKER. Tunes mean NOTHING! They have set STOCK CARS, preferably GT whatever number B-S Class. Anything below is a waste of time, the best comp class is S & R but thats not too important. Set cars don’t mean only ONE car, we should be able to choose between 5-10 cars. Which drivers would have to buy or rent. I repeat, no cheese tunes, no Custom tuning AT ALL! Stock Cars! So SKILL matters & somebody doesn’t quit during practice over some guy being way faster than them on the straights with the same RATING for example. It’l make reporting cheaters easier, it’l make the game way more fun/balanced. If you promote this series, Drivers will come back. I plead to take this seriously. You can still have the TUNED Class series next door. Not a big deal, drivers may feel like doing one or the other. Also we need a WIN-LOSS Stat sheet which will make drivers actually care about being professionals. If theres no Punishment for goofing off all race than whats the point. We need to SEE somebody’s Skill rating, somebody’s Safety Rating. This is COMMON SENSE stuff guys. Get them back to work & fix this game for the love of god thankyou.

The physics allow for some really goofy/unrealistic tuning. I would love to have some skill based battles. But also the option to go run open as well, like you said.

Or maybe just limit the amount of tuning you can do. Truck series in iRacing for example, they have fixed (no tune) and open classes. Open is tune whatever you want. Fixed is just that with the exception of tire psi, tape over grill, minor bias adjustments, fuel load, etc. The fixed class by far has the most exciting/close racing of the two.

They could have separate events, ranked matches for both. Tuning allowed on one event and locked pretuned events. Definitely pretuned will be more competitive, driver vs driver and not the setup that wins.

Some ideas of possible series with identical and locked tune/setup.
With racing tires to favor handling and race transmission for more equality and to avoid possible advantages/disadvantages between players.

INTRODUCTION SERIES
As a replacement for the Honda Civic and to give this section a better use than it has.

  • Mazda MX-5 Cup 2017
  • Ginetta G40 Junior (default or pre-tuned to match the Cup version)
  • Mini John Cooper Works GP (2012) (pre-tuned to match the Challenge version)
  • Renault Clio RS 16 Concept (pre-tuned to match the Cup version)
  • Toyota GR86 Cup 2023 (or 2022 Subaru BRZ pre-tuned)

SPEC OR CUP SERIES

  • Formula Mazda
  • Ford Mustang Dark Horse R
  • Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau (as Retro Cup)
  • Radical Cup

The stock production car hopper has always been a favourite of mine in previous titles, i get they’ve leant more into proper motorsports but I’m glad to know I’m not alone

I have been playing for a little over a month now and only just now found out that spec races allow tuning. When the game introduced spec races it gave me the impression everyone would be on the same level car wise. So I was very frustrated trying to figure out why some cars were accelerating way ahead of the pack at the start of spec races. I figured it was just a skill issue until I recently found out spec allows racers to use tunes

I like tuning in the open class races, but really wish I could do some races where every one is equal as well, so that the race is based on driving skills alone and not if I used a meta tune or not.
