Hi everyone,
I’m having a problem in Free Play mode. When I try to create a spec race (a race which all the drivers have the same car), the game loads the race with just me in the starting grid, no other drivers at all. I’ve selected a certain make and car model in the “Car Restrictions” tab, and set Max Drivatars to 23. Is there anything I’m missing here?
No. It doesn’t work. You get to race solo. Yet another “feature” of the game.
It does work if you know what you are doing. Please try to be helpful by searching before giving a false answer.
I don’t know if I would say it does work. I would say you can make it work, if you have a degree in turn 10 design engineering.
Free play, is for me, undeniably amazing and the best part of this new version of our game. But sifting through all the options is a little clunky and one setting not exactly correct throws the whole thing off. At which point I just reset and start over instead of going through each item trying to see what I may have goofed up.
When you give people a ton of options it makes it very easy to screw things up and cumbersome to find or set up exactly what you’re looking for.
Now if they would just let us save race setups so we don’t have to redo it every time, I would give them a little hero badge. I mean, I’d make him wait 2 weeks for it, but eventually it would show up in their account
I’ve been able to do free play races in this mode with stock specs but I had to set the upper PI limit to the exact value of the car with stock PI i.e. not homologated

Really?? I can’t believe they managed to break something as simple as that…

Thanks, I’ll give it a try.
I’ve just did what SkiwiNV suggested, and it indeed worked, but I can’t understand why it doesn’t works with homologated cars, or why we have to set the upper PI limit to the exact value of the car with stock parts for it to work. I really can’t see any logic in this…

Hahahahaha hahaha hahaha
You’re going to be saying this a lot more. Welcome to Forza Motorsport 7
Just make 2 player buckets…bucket 1: any make, any model, min driver 1…max driver 1. (Bucket 1 is going to be you)
Bucket 2: choose specific make & model, minimum & maximum number of drivatars should match for this bucket, & no upgrades allowed. Finally check that the number of drivatars in basic rules matches the number of drivatars in advanced rules. That should work to do spec races.

Thanks for the help, but I’ve just found another way to make spec races work: simply disable upgrades and select the desired make and model. That way it’s possible to make spec races with cars with stock parts, but not homologated cars, since the upgrades were disabled. But now that I’ve stopped to think about it, since the objective of spec races is to have all competitors drive cars which all have the same engines, tires, etc., it really wouldn’t make sense to be able to run spec races with upgraded cars. So I guess this is intended, and not a bug in the game.
