Sort your servers out!!

I did not pay a ton of money for this game and DLC (yes I bought an Xbox One mainly for this) to have sound quality on multiplayer races go static, stutter, and sound rubbish nor did I pay money to have the race I am playing online suddenly cut out and make me leave the race. Never mind all the lag, crashers and microphone problems. I love this game but every time it doesn’t work (which is more often than not) it disheartens me greatly and I wish it would be sorted out promptly.

On a side note if anyone wishes to get past some of these issues with private lobby racing then feel free to get in contact.

From what I understand … the chat/sound static/stutter issue is on the Microsoft and XBox Live side … not T10 or Forza. Some others have reported that this issue is the result of a recent XBox Live update.

Your complaint is there, but you’ve posted no information about your network system or the settings you have. See this Xbox Support information on Networking: Xbox Support

Follow the directions (you may even need to check the modem/router manufacturer’s website for directions to change those settings. If you do not have an OPEN Network Address Translation (NAT) setting, you’re going to have multiplayer issues like you’ve reported.

I have only had issues with sound from today, no issue whatsoever when the update happened.

Will give that a try, thanks.

This problem is one many people are suddenly having across the country. Just as there could be a problem with a certain player’s ISP, there could be a problem with XBLive and the servers they use, which, seems to be likely since many are having these issues. I had the static last week also. No one else live with me and I have the fastest cable DL speed available and yet I had the noise. I checked DL speeds and they were normal. Never had these issues prior to last week. Not sure if its fixed now. Haven’t played since.

All works fine here in the UK

Far from it.

With all my settings correct on the system, and the modem set correctly as advised, I get static now and again in races. More infuriatingly though, is waiting in a lobby for a race to start, only to be thrown back to dashboard as the final countdown begins.

Also, paints thumbnails in the share front take an obscene amount of time to load past the first 5-6.

Also, last night, in 2 races, one player set off whilst the timer was still on 2 seconds before race start.

You need to do a hard reboot of your Xbox One. Also, if you run a lot of apps, quit them when you done. Back at home page hit menu button (old start button) on app you were just using & scroll down to quit and hit A Button. You might have a bunch of apps running in the back ground & not know it. This can and will cause the Xbox One to do silly things you described. Since i have started managing whats running in back ground on my Xbox One, I haven’t had to do a hard reboot in a long time. AKA no more issues.

Ctd on countdown timer? Has that happened in the 2 hour endurance hopper? I’d probably launch the Xbox out the window if I’d just sat for an hour or more only for that to happen.

About your lag, what fixed my issue was making sure that no more than one other device is connected to my internet when I play online. My weak Internet thing went away, completely. Example, if my wife is home, only Xbox One & her tablet are on Internet. Just me, only Xbox One on Internet. Remember Smart Phones, Tablets, & PC’s that are physically on but not being used, will still randomly talk with internet. That’s what my problem was. Now it’s not an issue at all.

I now enjoy lag free racing. Including when I did 1.5 hrs in Silverstone GP Challenge hopper.

Manage the apps you left open in back ground & you won’t get silly sound drop offs/static or messed up lobby chat. To much running in back ground makes Xbox One do silly things that you think it wouldn’t. The only apps that stay running on my Xbox One is Skype & TV. As far as Netflix, ESPN, NFL Network, YouTube, Machinma, Xbox Video, Xbox Music, Xbox Game Market Place, MLG, or a game that I’m done playing (that I don’t want running in background), I quit them on Home Menu on dashboard. If you done with an app or game for that particular session of the console being on, why leave them running in the background?

I always leave my console on instant on to. So all I got to say is Xbox On & within like 10 seconds I’m ready to game or use whatever app. No way would I want to wait for that console to fully come up from being turned off in power saver mode.

Problem solved. For me anyways.

Nobody else online while I’m racing. In my house, that is known as a “pipe dream”.

Every household is different. Just my wife and I. We got 2 tablets, 1 smart phone, PC, & DirecTv (Genie has WiFi). In my situation, I make its only my Xbox One & no more than her tablet, tops.

I do the bulk of my multiplayer from 5-8 AM my time on the weekends, because that is when I can have the Internet all to myself. I tried a session last night with my wife and son both doing stuff concurrently and it was awful. I’m used to flying cars on occasion, but they were all jumping around so bad it was like racing in a popcorn machine. That, plus the slow/fast forward was causing me to jack a lot of turns. No dashboard kicks, surprisingly - I was actually expecting one or two.

Yeah, game speed changing (slow/fast) at the approach of a turn will cause you to jack the turn up! Bad! I see why you prefer racing between 5-8 am on weekends. You got the internet all to yourself.

Folks, keep in mind all these connections are “Internet” which means we don’t have a direct connection to whatever we’re doing. Our Internet Service Providers (ISP) will give us a “rating” of the connection, whether 3 MB down/768 up as an example to some claiming 20 MB/10 MB. But that is ONLY to their central office for switching and usually less than one mile away.

Beyond that, they don’t guarantee anything because it is a wild, wild world (WWW) beyond the equipment they control. Even if you have a 20 MB super slick connection, that is the peak rating, not consistent, not flat-out all the time. To the local CO only. If you note the path any signal takes on the Internet, you’ll find to get to a simple destination, like these forums, you may go through a couple DNS servers, three or four different service providers and a whole bunch of “hops” through various equipment along the way.

Our connections from our modem/router/gateway device near our PCs or Xbox is not direct to other players in FM5. Not by a long shot. And if you’re connected wireless to the modem/router/gateway, you’re limited on speed from your Xbox to the device by that wireless capability. It doesn’t matter what your ISP says you’ve got for “Internet speed,” it is only as fast as the slowest “hop” and as reliable as the worst segment thereon.

Now, if you’ve got (like we do sometimes with our three daughters all home at the same time, five people and all the devices accessing the services of the router/modem/gateway at the same time, you’ve got your own traffic jam because that device is limited on the traffic it can handle. I know we’ve had five computers and five cell phones all using our Local Area Network (LAN) at the same time, and I know exactly how it crawls when someone is streaming videos, another person is watching a movie and I’m trying to do something on the Xbox.

Talk about dropped packets, and latency! Holy unreliable, Batman!

Right… “The internet” is basically just a frazzled piece of yarn struggling against all hope to carry a weak signal through a stormy labyrinth of impossible perils. It’s nothing short of a miracle from the heavens that we can even ping our own routers.

We all might as well just cancel our Xbox Live subscriptions & never again purchase games with any online functionality since the feeble little internet is just too frail to handle such daunting tasks.

Holy misleading & deflective posts Batman!

Over the years, many gamers have gone to extensive (& sometimes expensive) lengths to troubleshoot & optimize every aspect of their gaming experience - from installing fancy cables & low-response-time monitors, to buying new routers & upgrading their ISP packages, to opening ports & nearly acquiring network certifications - all to no avail, because there are always people telling them that broken games & dysfunctional online services like these are their own fault & their own responsibility to fix.

When other things work fine over the same connection while a specific thing does not, it usually means the problem belongs to that specific thing & not the connection.

If “the internet” was truly such a fragile & unreliable roll-of-the-dice, then multi-billion-dollar global businesses & governments would not choose to rely on it for critical daily operations.

I agree with Operator1 on this.

My connections speeds are around 0.7 up and around 8 down. I have had my 2 kids streaming and me playing in the no collision lobbies. No dramas except the weak connection sign is on my screen and the races slow down (which seems to be a lobby wide thing when it happens given what I have heard people say - people say through chat “whoa slowdown” at the same time it happens to me). Connections usually work just fine under stress.

Some games seems to have a high rate of disconnections though. Recently Forza has been ok for me with regards to dashboarding. Battlefield has dashboarded. NFS has disconnected me. The only game where recently I have had no connection issues is Titanfall.

That slow fast speed changing is starting to happen alot…

This game is an absolute shambles online…what a joke it gets worse n worse and you fix NOTHING!!!
Done n Dusted, i will play til november them im gone simple…[Mod Edit - MM]
And i cant believe i supported this game against all the haters, well not anymore.

Speed up slow down, speed up slow down, at one point i swear i was driving flatout in slow motion for 2 laps lol…
