I guess I’m still not clear on the need for anonymity, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, unless there was malicious intent to purposefully undermine someone, which we all know would never happen here /s
The problem stems from the internet deciding one day that downvotes should no longer be a thing.
It creates very false metrics and allows misinformation to thrive even more.
I’m indifferent on the issue of longer nights. I think I prefer them, but not enough to vote either way.
The issue of no downvotes though is a big one. Downvotes aren’t an ideal solution I recognize that. Downvote bullying and downvote gangs were definitely a thing before (not necessarily here but definitely on the internet at large). But now without downvotes, you get situations like this where if someone likes the idea all they have to do is vote whereas if someone doesn’t like the idea they have to type something out, with no guarantee that their post will even be looked at, both by devs considering the suggestion and by others with the same feelings.
It skews results massively.

If you go back to the series 19 recap, there is a poll question that asks “Would you like to see Extended Night Time be a permanent change to the game in the future?” Yes beat no 72 to 19 percent. I distinctly remember voting no here, and sensing that disaster was about to happen. Well, here it is.
Totally forgot about that; thanks for sharing. Over 900 votes too, so that’s pretty conclusive I’d say & good that it was a yes/no vote, which is what was really in question.
And though I’m sure I voted “no” as well, credit to the team, where credit is due, for listening to the community & making the change.
I personally enjoy the longer nights, they were way too short before the change. There was moaning about the short nights in the last game, so I cannot understand why pgg made them even shorter in this game ?
I have two issues with the night cycle in FH games.
First, it messes up paint and livery design. It is not possible to accurately tune colors for paints and livery elements in dark or dusk lighting. The artificial lighting in the outpost building is also poor. They could easily fix this just by adding the ability to toggle between the lighting modes in the garages. The enabled this features for photography, so why not?
Second, it can be very difficult to see the dark environments when playing in a room with a lot of natural light. The dark features on the screen don’t have enough contrast, unless the ambient light in the room is fairly dark. They have kind of mitigated this to some extent in FH5 by making the nights less dark than they have been in prior titles. In FH5, night just kind of turns things dingy gray. In FH3, night was really dark, and the bright amber reflectors alongside the roads really stood out. That was a cool effect, but it made playing the game in a well-lit room nigh impossible.
Really, the only fix I have found to the issue of adjusting colors in paints regarding lighting is setting one of the outposts to be my Home instead of a house, thus you are painting the car inside of a lit paint booth vs fighting daylight.
I still want my longer transitional lighting stages vs constant light or constant dark.
My main issue with night in this series is that the headlights absolutely suck. They feel like they light all of 30 feet in front of your car, like they’d show up in an infomercial for those headlight-defogging products. If we’re going to have longer nights, give me some actual high beams.
Well, if the trend continues, we only need about 900 more votes for a reversal
Well, that needed to be promoted more. Should’ve got it’s own thread if you ask me. I missed it completely.
Where do I vote? Make it 899. But make it fast if event lab 2.0 is event lab 2.flop I may go back to elsewhere.
Honestly, a reversal isn’t needed. People wanted longer nights. They got it. What’s wrong with just giving us longer days now too? Keep the new night length for everyone that wanted it but extend the daytime for everyone who lost it. Seems only fair. It’s like the folks that like the daytime had to give up something in order to please the rest. Know what I mean?
Adding longer nights to a game in which normal driving lights are better candles and without having high beams simply doesn’t makes sense. Especially if the majority of the roads aren’t lit at night.
If people want to race at night they can use the lab and create such races or chose the respective ones. They can also resort to street scene races which are normally happening when it’s dark(er).
Adding this was an utter failure and not thought out at all. There are obviously way to many things that simply don’t fit and get negatively impacted by it IMO.
Crosspost from my thread here End the darkness - Horizon Features / Multiplayer / Online - Official Forza Community Forums
I am 52, my eyes are not what they used to be.
When the midnight event came I was thinking this is ok let them have their fun its only 4 weeks I can tough that out.
Worst case I tought it would become an anual thing so 4 weeks out of 52 is not that bad.
Then came the poll and I figured this is just a vocal minority on a forum for a game that has tens of millions of people surely people at PGG will go: We cant do this for at best a few hundred people on the forum, we cant do this to the tons of peopl;e who play our game who have bad eyesight.
Then you guys started stuffing the suggestion box demanding longer nights and PGG was idiotic enough to make the changes you wanted anfd that are holding the rest of us hostage today.
You wanted to freeroam at night?
Hey guess what, the game gives you the tools to do so 24/7 if you want.
Go to event labs, set a finish line somewhere at the edge of the map, trafic on, time of day night.
Boom within 30 seconds you have created the conditions you wanted without taking anything away from the rest of us.
Make an event out of it convoy up with your friends and enjoy your darkness without bothering us.
You can bring dark to your world I and so many others cant bring light to ours.
You have condemned me to this:
Forza Horizon 5 Eliminator: I hate this darkness - YouTube
This would have been a flawless race with plenty of eliminations but the circle was in the jungle so I had to hide and hope nobody would find me because even in the fastest car of the game I will lose because all I see are varying degrees of dark.
In the video the final showdown I crash places I never crash, cant judge distance nor depth so I completely miss the mark.
And why, because a vocal minority of you selfishly demanded something you can make yourself within 30 seconds in the event labs.
Again you can bring all the dark you want in your world, I cant bring light in mine.
Hope yer all very proud of yourselves.
Voted! Walk towards the light!
Thing is, we did.
These nights mess with arcade and eliminator. Chack my post above how we lost things and night time freeroam lovers actually gained nothing they couldnt already do themselves.
It was heavily promoted at the time, that’s why it got 1000 votes, that poll was overwhelmingly in favour of the night time change, as noted before.
I mean, by the same token you can go into Eventlab and make it day time without taking anything away from players that wanted longer nights.
I could if I want to just freeroam but I play the eliminator so I cant.
We and arcade players have been condemned to this darkness by people who want to just drive around in the dark
This freeroaming in the dark you can take care of your self.
They can bring dark to their world I cant bring light to mine
