Last night got rammed and sent to last position at first turn (2 secs penalty), I was tempted to quit, but didn’t. No, I didn’t get first postion, nor 2nd, not even was on top 10, but it was fun at the end. The only not fun about it was the penalty I received for getting rammed.
The reason I haven’t played my first Endurance race is because I feel dubious to really be able to finish it due to the time, and, in my opinion, to have a race finished with zero or very fews dnf is really satisfactory, so I prefer not to ruin the experience to others.
Cheers.

Maybe a ranking grid for the best lap should be introduced.
After a race, the ranking list for placing and afterwards a list for best lap should be presented. With some cedits for best lap placing as a bonus.
This way there will be an incentive to keep going until the end of race.

Well best lap would be given to the faster drivers, who most likely already won. Incentives or possible punishments would need to be focused further down the grid.
Things like a clean lap bonus, could be delivered to all players regardless of place, maybe even add multipliers for stringing clean laps together. If the rewards were high enough, itd be worth staying in a race no matter where you place because it would give another goal to acheive besides winning.
Another incentive could be a skill based difficulty bonus. Skill based matchmaking isnt really a thing and most races are a mish mash of skill. A credit bonus for finishing above drivers who have higher skill ratings could also give a little boost to keep players racing.

I like the Skill-based incentive Bonus idea.
Still, I think the best-lap ranking would keep some players from leaving when they get pushed from track or make a mistake.

The problem with those suggesting penalties for those who DNF is it’ll penalise those who either have dodgy internet connections or who are kicked out due to crashes.
Maybe that penalty could only apply to anyone who deliberately chooses the quit race option? Involuntary disconnections could be excused
I would say incentives to stay in a race would be better than penalties, but no idea what this could be that make sense.
Driver rating penalties would be an obvious penalty that hurts, if driver ratings mattered, but would hurt disconnects. Ideally if driver rating mattered though, a low finish would be penalty enough. That would keep people in who felt they could gain places to limit the damage.

There couldnt be a system in place that would cover all the bases. Disconnects arent the players fault. Quitting early due to frustration, it happens to everyone regardless of skill. But for those who feel theyre racing for no reason if they drop too far back, another goal could be incentive enough to stay.
Personally i dont feel this is really a problem, but i think something could be done none the less. The goal of any game is for the player to have fun. If the people who dnf are disconnected thats one thing, but if theyre quitting then the games not really doing its job.
What more goals are there?
We already have the unlock cars now that requires completion of the race, which also presents a new issue.
People just pausing instead of quitting from the lobby. (Also needs to be eliminated via automatic kick) Yes this will result in further DNFS but I think this should be classed as DQ
I used to quit sometimes when I would get wiped during the craziness of a first lap with 24 cars. Going from 11th to 24th just like that sucks. Then I would stick it out more and many times because of others quitting, others having problems and doing solid laps I could get myself back to the top 10 by the end and be satisfied still.
Grind it out I say.

Afk farming works only on multiclass events, becouse u finish race when timer ends, If u pause afk in normal race u won’t be able to finish race becouse u need to cross finish line for it to count.
Exactly why this needs addressing
Nay, it’s good way for me to afk farm fomo cars xd these races are boring anyway. (Bmw multiclass, is just me driving alone in a class for 20 min and avoiding lmp cars trying to kill me…)
A couple of things were written above. Basically add certain things to incentivise people to finish a race.
Tbh, what changes for u when someone else quits?
Sometimes the best racing is at the back. I’ve seen folks get dumped by jerks, then just quit. Why not stay at the back with the rest of us clean/non-meta racers and make a go of it?

from my perspective there are 2 types of players in back… ones that are slow and i just blaze trough them, and 2nd one annoying divebombing/ramming and blocking ones… these end up in ditch after PIT [only if someone is rly annoying XD]
i mean i always do no qualify to have some fun overtaking slower people, and in lower class u can expect clean races, but once u enter S class or higher… man there are so many rammers in back [they just dont know how to handle thiers cars]
This for sure.
I barely ever win races. Mostly because I’m not really that good yet, but also because I drive cars I like rather than meta cars. I end up at the back and I’m always disappointed when drivers bail out of the race early.
If you’re making mistakes and dropping positions, I’ll give you a good, clean race any day. Stay in!

Tbh I don’t care where I finish. I mean I do and wana win but if I get spun out or spun my self out, I just go back at it. Unless I can’t stand my setup
. The payout for being in the back isn’t to hateful and encouraging to keep going. There’s been plenty of times I came back from being a lap down to even win, through pit strategy and tire management.
Quitting dnf I think should have more of a penalty towards your score. I rather race with someone from a lower class providing they’re clean and actually finish the race, vs someone who dnf just because the got spun on the first lap.
Not finishing the race in the time given should not be penalized for there dnf. Ultimately it will affect there skill level and the system will eventually find a group they can compete with.

My point exactly If I’m just that bad I won’t even do the race. For example I been so wound up in the nascar feature my gt3 skills have fallen off for said car I was used to driving. Being 3 seconds off the pace and only a limited amount of time to relearn my car and setup in practice. I didn’t want to ruin the race for others looking like an amateur.
If I’m good on a certain track, I like starting in the back. Gives me a challenge to work past each driver. Also give me chances to improve my overtaking skills. So not all of us are rammers back there
.
