So I’ve finally had time to get in a few hours on FM7. To be fair, I haven’t ventured into multiplayer yet. I’ve played in career, free play, test drive and rivals. I did just a little painting and took a few photos.
I’m really enjoying the career mode and don’t really have a problem with the homologation. I do miss the class system and I can see where that might be frustrating for some folks. But I did find that you can set up cars however you like, and create races in free play to race them. I think the leader board folks have a valid complaint about the homologation limiting customization. I hope the class system return in some way, to allow players to utilize the parts that are available, but right now are unnecessary.
I ran most of my races in extra long and even with a few hours painting, tuning and racing, I didn’t experience any crashing or bugs. Or at least none that I could tell. I expect that will change when I begin playing some multiplayer races this weekend.
The game looks and feels great. The sounds in some places seemed off, but it didn’t affect gameplay. I think the list of tracks is decent, and was glad to see a few of the old track, like Maple Valley and Suzuka Circuit return. I’m pretty easy to please. If there are enough cars and tracks to keep me busy, I’m good.
I see the Auction House and Leagues are “coming soon”. I have enjoyed those in the past, and look forward to seeing what they offer in FM7. I didn’t see a Storefront, and I really liked that feature.
Overall, I’m pleased with the game. I see opportunities for it to be polished into the best Forza Motorsport title to date, Even FM4 had troubles at launch, and it turned out pretty darn good, in my opinion. I think once VIP, and the gameplay issues like crashing and memory leak are fixed, and all the features are actually working, people will settle in and start really enjoying the game.
As much as I like the Forza Motorsport series, I will never understand the thought process behind drastic changes in the game. By the same token, I will never understand many of the complaints about features that don’t even affect gameplay. All I know is that my return on investment is significantly higher with this game than any other game I have played. That has earned my loyalty.
Seems to be good here too. Turned off a few processes. Seems to be related to the Nvidia program for Windows that was causing me lags.
Well said. There are some niggles and support from Turn 10 is minimal. You would think they could spare one of their team for say an hour per week to comment on problems and update us.
Compared to some motor racing games, rewards for winning races is very small and those who want to collect all the cars and progress deep into the game are going to need lots of spare time and patience.
Having said that when I look at some of the other games I’ve purchased, Forza and Rockstar games are the ones I’ve played most and have given me the most enjoyment and satisfaction.
Turn 10 will never make this forum happy. If they dont make changes to the game people will say “same game new year”… doesnt matter what they do,someone. Will whine on the forums…
I’m absolutely loving it. I’ve bought every FM and FH so far and I genuinely think this is the best of all the FM games. The graphics/sound/handling are better than the others, the career is more varied and fun (The car collecting obviously plays a huge part in this) and I can see the replay value of the game due to the collectables. The in-game currency is better than any FM or FH game (In the others I have multi millions of CR sitting doing nothing, I’ll buy cars that won’t be driven just to spend it)
The only thing I wish I’d done before starting FM7 is to have completed the career and the challenges 100% in FM6 first because I can’t face the grind.
FM7 is fantastic, thanks T10
I’m also in the “love” camp. I’ve been playing it since it came out (apart from when my PC went “pop” and I had to fix it), and I’ve loved every minute. Sure the endurance races are challenging, and the AI is a bit erm, psychotic? On the whole though, I’ve been enjoying FM7 very much
Yep, I see the potential for this game to be great. Single player and campaign are very good and pay out well on long to very long races.
Once multiplayer gets sorted and the leagues, auction house, and forzathon open I bet there will be less complaining. I believe those features won’t open until a set number of people are playing the game from what I read in another thread if I understood correctly.
Anyhow, this is the best forza that T10 released in single player for sometime. IMO.
As somebody who focuses singleplayer, for me this is the best Forza I’ve played (never played 1 and 2). The in-track experience is awesome – if you set long races and have the time to properly overtake the AI, the problems become a bit smaller, the car list showed to be better than in theory, it’s not that hard to earn credits as I heard, soundtrack now truly fits the game and it was an excellent choice, homologation system makes my job easier when I want to enter a top 50 Americas in a class. Career is also amazing and it really makes you race all kinds of cars while not being dull like in FM 6. I can’t really see why people are mad over this game (well, actually for PC users I can…), I just imagine they listened too much to what Greenwalt says, which any slightly wise person hasn’t done for years as he says absolutely anything that comes to mind to sell a game.
All the changes made me really enjoy the in-track experience way better than in FM 6 or even FM 4. Even the small changes in physics proved to be decisive at times, made some cars much more realistic and enjoyable. It’s a game to drive fast and enjoy slowly.
I know I’m just a single user out of many thousands, but if anyone involved with the game creation is reading this, please have my thank you, this game gave me some of the most fun times I’ve ever had playing a videogame and I finally found a satisfaction I don’t have since much, much older games. I hope long term this formula pays off and we have more and better successors to this game.
[Edit]: oh, Falcon '92, Escort Mk1, Holden '85 and '96, AMC Pacer (back from FM 4), Suzuka, Maple Valley, Mugello… the definitions of “happiness” are updated.
[Edit 2]: also, something that may have done damage to this game reception was the demo, it was just plain horrible and didn’t give the correct idea of what this game is. In opposition of the FM 6 demo which basically was a game seller.
Same here… I’v enjoyed the game. I’m 99% a single mode/career made.
Question… Where are the n=Endro Races… The Ring? Sebring, etc. I’m in the last championship NW and I’ve only seen Spa!
Can someone tell me where they are… Or do they open up later?
Down the bottom showcases of each applicable championship, I think you will see 125 - 250 and 300 stick out
PS I think it is Le Mans Sebring and Spa
