Slow traffic

I dont know if it has been discussed before, but why is the traffic in this game so damn slow?
I did some research and found out that the speed limit on country roads in Great Britain is 60 mph / 97 kmh. So why the traffic cars dont go any faster than 50 kmh?

As a player who likes to drive as real as possible from time to time its really annoying when the traffic is slow af. So whats the reason? Am I the only person who is bothered by the traffic?

Greetz.

To make it more realistic they should have white vans tailgating you everywhere you go, no matter how fast you’re going.

It does have the realistic aspect that every time you get up to any sort of speed on the motorway, some slowpoke will move over into the fast lane just in front of you with little warning!

I don’t mind the speed, but I do mind that the traffic tends to knot up around the entrance to stunts (before the ghosting would kick in). The ghost boundaries should be set farther back so as to allow for a consistent run up to each stunt - otherwise, you’re not comparing apples to apples on the leaderboard, but instead influencing the outcome with a random variable.

You should try FH3 with no ghosting at all !.. the number of times a really good speed/drift run was B****** by an AI car
The AI used to gravitate to you as well so the more times you tried a drift run the busier it got

So I am OK with the way it is now

While the National speed limit in the UK for single lane roads is 60 mph (the motorway is 70 mph), this doesn’t apply everywhere. A lot of the roads in the game would be restricted to 40 mph or 30 mph in the more built up areas like the city and small villages.

Still better than real life. You get stuck behind someone doing 10 below the speed limit, and don’t even have the option of pulling out into the oncoming lane to go around them. And if you so much as trade paint, you’re looking at your insurance premiums going up.

As Jay said, the traffic will purposely move in front of you to ruin your fun. Just pay attention, 2 or more will switch lanes right in your path

Also IRL I’ve been noticing alot of idiots around where I live dont even get up to highway speed before entering the highway. Why the hell would you enter the road going 25 when everyone else is going 65? Do you wanna be rear-ended???

I play online more often than not, because I can’t be bothered to change settings, and I find that the NPC traffic is pretty sparse and spread out most of the time. And since other players are ghosted, it’s hardly a challenge at all. But yes, in offline mode, when traffic is denser, they can get in your way and mess you up, and drivatars are zipping around you.

Believe it or not, out of all the flaws this game has, THIS is my biggest gripe about the Horizon games. As someone who likes to drive as one would in real life, this is a constant annoyance I face. I have no conception why anyone would think it’s a good idea to have a game based around fast cars, be populated with AI traffic doing half the speed limit. I’ve even become to dread when it rains or snows in the game, because the AI drives even more slow in response. I’m glad there’s a discussion about this, hopefully to get this changed in future titles.

Those of us who live “not in the UK” are sorely disappointed by the lack of clogged highways full of Caravans in Summer season…did Top Gear LIE to us all those years!?

(Here, we call Caravans “Campers” …and thanks to American Efficiency the label of Camper applies to both the vehicles and those driving them. 'MURICA!)
