Well this is how the current game is played. You may not want to accept it, but this is how it is. Even if there are “a bunch of cutters”, maybe they just haven’t gotten to Elite yet. I only saw 1-2 people in Professional were cutting every race, but they are such a small amount of player right now at the higher Bands, I am not really worried too much about it compared to getting a more “fair” starting position based off of my rank rather than previous race’s lap times.
As for the racers that purposely dirty laps. That is just the current way to play Leagues. Skill based ranking systems equals shady tactics to be on top. Just how every competitive game is, Halo, COD, CS:GO, etc. Get rid of the focus on lap times for position, people will start to run clean laps, except for cutters, which either way will still cut; however, people who want to actually race can race more fairly now because starting position will be based off of rank rather than previous race’s lap times.
I don’t cheat, not in my nature. Why would I want to ruin a good clean lap and join the dirty business. This is what no penalties and nothing learned from Forza 6 leads to. Enjoy your game however you want to play it. They are not going to listen to us anyway so really it’s a moot point.
Can someone please explain to me how i get completely tboned and get stuffed in wall and end up with serious car issues the main one is engine failure, i then have to limp to the pits in 1st or 2nd gear whilst the people that ram me scarpers of in the distance and full speed, they do pit however but i am too far behind to catch up.
sorry if this has been said before please direct me to the appropriate forum if it has.
this is the only issue i have with leagues, i think they are great and the higher the grade the less prats you get but accidents do happen when racing
Not always, being sideways and hit on the front fender or rear quarter panel/fender by another car will cause both cars to go different directions sometimes and would AT LEAST cause suspension damage to one of them.
Ironically, we’re lucky SIM damage was implemented poorly from the get go when it comes to leagues? Imagibe if it was realistic like it’s supposed to be? A little knock to the bumper like in the FM4 days and you’d mangle your suspension and destroy you’re downforce by turn 1. The cars are far too strong in this game which like I said is lucky in one way.
However in leagues SIM damage shouldn’t be present, at least not in the lower leagues. I believe PJ Tierney said this (apologies if I butchered the name) but we should have Fuel and Tires in the lower leagues and from Professional onwards we should be on Simulation damage. I firmly stand by that. Of course a lot of problems would be solved if we had a proper penalty system which unfortunately we do not. And on that not where is this adjudication system that was hyped before launch? I haven’t seen much of it…
NOOOOOOOOOOOO please don’t start complaining about this! I really love simulation damage. This is the only place left in the game that I can enjoy that.
Maybe the ‘opponent strength’, but those points are marginal. Starting position and result are based on race results.
And so far the opponent skill score seems to reflect the difficulty of the race I was in so I don’t care either way.
Starting position scoring is flawed though, should be high points for starting up front and low points for starting in back since it is based on actual driving quality (clean lap times first). That could nudge some shortcutters to a cleaner racing style.
I’ve skimmed this whole thread, and it seems to mostly be a bunch of whining. Unfortunately, nobody has mentioned the “Driver feedback” option available after every multiplayer race. You can report dirty driving/ramming/etc, and that will affect that driver’s placement. I recommend that if you don’t enjoy getting rammed from behind, say something and give feedback on those drivers.
I personally LOVE the simulation races in the leagues, since I play Forza for the simulation. There are plenty of game modes that allow cosmetic damage - use those or use the ghost league races.
One of my favorite things about Simulation league is the amount of conversation and camaraderie we have. The ghost league is of course the opposite - very little chat going on, as there is little need for it. The high participation rate also gives an incentive to clean driving and courtesy, as “vote to kick” and “how to report” comes up every once in a while. If your momentary lapse puts the driver ahead hard into a wall, a quick note of apology goes a long way toward easing the hurt - and reduces the chance of a negative vote next intermission.
Getting to start up front is a treat I enjoy by going for clean laps. I give those around me benefit of the doubt that their dirty laps and trading paint are “learning to drive” moments; if it’s just about getting to the next league, hey, I’m cool with that, too, because I will probably not be going there. And if they don’t want to start up front, I’ll happily take it. I really like starting up front and seeing how long I can hold on, how well I can mitigate damage, and racing for a shot at the podium. Checking the leaderboard and seeing I’ve got a top-three lap time when I get a clean lap in is also a kick.
How are you supposed to avoid dirty laps when drafting still triggers it in sim league? The discussion here seems to imply that the only dirty laps come from corner cutters or crappy driving. The only time I’ve been able to get clean laps is either by gapping the field (rare) or have an open track after pitting and both of those cases are boring races.
I’m also not hearing much conversation in sim league. It’s the rare room that seems to communicate or even has more than a couple people with mics. But, that was in enthusiast, I got promoted to pro on the final race before the window closed earlier today, and haven’t had a chance to see if it’s much different.
Clean laps in the ghost league is what they are talking about. No drafting in ghost so they are pretty easy to get. Corner cutting is far more easy to do in a ghost league. If Turn 10 changes it, they will change it the way they want to not based on anyone’s input so it really doesn’t matter. Most people are in parties and Forza game chat is notoriously iffy. It grid orders by best clean lap from the previous race causing someone who may not even come in top 10 in the race to possibly start like top 5 just because they got a clean lap. Cutters will never have a clean lap and there are those who intentionally dirty their laps so they don’t start up front to make getting points easier. If you start in the back you have very little work to do and you will get points even if you don’t do very well. So this is not really fair to clean racers who will almost always start up front from having pretty much any clean lap and have to finish up front to get any points. So if there are people cutting or you have a bad race you can lose a substantial amount of points. I do not have an answer for this but punishing clean racers doesn’t seem to be the way to go for this to be fair. If you cut to win you shouldn’t get any points for doing that but you do. Randomizing the grid order would probably help so that the clean lap won’t start you up front every single time but I doubt that will happen. In a perfect world it’s a good system to put clean guys up front like in a hopper but when people exploit the system in the leagues just to move up to where they probably do not belong it really is not working. Meanwhile the cutter or person who dirtied their laps on purpose will start in say 15th, come in 13th and get points while oh too bad you didn’t come in 3rd where you started. Maybe it was fourth but guess what no points or loss of points. So you did better than the guy in the back but he gets points and you do not, artificially making it seem he is more skilled than you according to the game rules as they stand for ghost at least. Since it is harder in sim league to even get a clean lap it probably will not make much difference since most will get dirty laps anyway.
A “once-per-race” ghosting ability would be nice which you can activate for 2-3 seconds. Otherwise the first corner is mostly a gamble, even in the professional band. A penalty system for crashes is always a problem due to the question of guilt. You get bumped from behind and then bump into the ones infront of you? How should an automated system handle this correctly? You get brake-checked and crash into the checker? Most likely you would get punished.
A penalty system for cutting corners or breaking track limits in terms of slow downs or severe time penalties should’ve been included from the get-go though. GT Sport’s is pretty decent. It’s just annoying on tracks like Hockenheim, COTA or Silverstone.
I think any “major” contact should automatically trigger ghosting. Also off track cars should be ghosted for a couple seconds. This would reduce the pile ups and reduce the crashes when people rejoin the track.
This is not an option for all the griefers that simply play the game to crash into other people.
EVERY single multiplayer game I have joined has had multiple griefers - EVERY game.
These people have no need to learn race craft, it is crashing into other people and ruining their games that
gives them pleasure. There needs to be an enforceable penalty system for people that deliberately grief the game.
Turn 10 have not introduced anything remotely helpful in this regard in 10 YEARS, yet the games sell like hot cakes.
Griefers have the ultimate game for making them happy because NOTHING is done to stop them.
Win Win for Turn 10 as they sell the game then simply have to do nothing to stop griefing.
Everyone can talk as much as they want from the Ghost Lobby, but many are not competent to participate in collision-damaged racing. And the penalty should be the ban for a month. There should be the reporting mode, and the riders themselves judge the replay at the end of the race and vote for the ban. While this does not occur or T10 create a penalty system I prefer the ghost runs.
