My opinion is that the community isn’t ready for this in lobbies where contact is on, because of the lack of racing rules and penalties for breaking them.
Big part of the races in the League that say Simulation, my car get partly broken because of others ramming in the back as they refuse to brake for a corner and then I can forget the fight for podiums. I find this unfair. Sometimes it looks more like Demolution Derby then Racing in the first lap of a race.
If there is contact lobby I hope T10 leaves off Damage. In ghost lobbies I don’t mind as it is then all your own fault.
I like simulation lobbies much more than ghost. Yes, sometimes people ramming you behind, but if you dont rush youself throgh the first corner, most of the time you can drive without pitstops…
And its realy sad, that there are no penaltys for those who cut corners and rumm others.
Pit stops/quick stops must be added so it makes getting smashed at the start not so bad,you lose so much time having been damaged by someone else because you have to pit,if everyone has to pit it’s not so bad
It will work itself out. The people who wreck a lot will eventually start avoiding sim lobbies. When they hit you they usually mess their own car up too.
It really depends on the caliber of people in your race session and the time of day you race in. You will find that in the evening time most folks will start racing post prandial and this the best time to begin league racing with a session that is small. Unfortunately there is not much you do about rammers except starting in the top three and staying ahead. Also I think that with the new scoring systems rammers will find it harder to move through the tier of their rank.
What I don’t understand is I’ve been in a couple races without taking any damage at all and by the middle of the race my transmission is heavily damaged and by the end of the race it’s taking like 10 seconds to shift gears. I don’t understand how that’s simulation. I agree there should be a mandatory pit stop for everyone in simulation. I’ll get crashed into multiple times from the same guy and take all kinds of damage and be pulling heavily to the right or left and the other guy seems to go on fine with no damage at all.
You’ve got assists set to manual with clutch and are either screwing up using the clutch or not using it at all. Set it to manual only and you’ll be fine. You take engine damage if you downshift and over rev the engine. Is this your first experience with damage on?
Ya I use manual w/clutch as it’s usually the faster option. Yes this is my first experience with damage on. But ya I’ll just set it to manual only. In real life though I’m pretty sure you can power shift for a few laps around a track without taking transmission damage lol. Thanks for the advice.
Correct me if I’m wrong but power shifting still involves the clutch. I always thought power shifting was keeping one foot buried in the gas pedal while clutching with the other foot so the engine revs up to redline between shifts.
And yes you can switch gears without the clutch but the engine speed has to match the rotational speed of the gear you are trying to shift into. For instance if you are shifting from second to third at 2500 rpms in second you will need to drop the revs down to around 2100 to successfully change gears without clutching in and this is only in a synchronized gearbox. I drive a 1980 fiat spider in real life that likes to snap its clutch cable fairly regularly. I can still drive it without the clutch but if I don’t get it just right I will grind the gears terribly. So I tend to drive it to the nearest place I can park it and replace the clutch cable.
If you don’t want to use the clutch just turn it off. It won’t do you any favors in forza7 if you choose not to use it when it’s turned on.
Yes your first paragraph is absolutely what I’m talking about. That’s what I’ve always known power shifting as, keep 1 foot buried on the gas pedal and use the clutch. I’m not talking about shifting without the clutch because as you said you will get a lot of grinding. But I really wouldn’t know first hand as I’ve owned a few mt cars in my life and have never tried shifting without the clutch, my current car is a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. By the way I really like using the clutch in Forza, not only do I think it’s faster for most cars but it adds another element to the game.
