Settings - Wrong suggested level for graphic settings

Hi!

I have a system PC, which initially had:

  • i5 10500
  • RTX 3070 8GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 650W Seasonic Gold PSU
  • on a QHD monitor 1440p.

With this configuration, the default gaming settings suggested were always: Extreme.

Everything was working correctly but I was constantly receiving the message “low video card memory”

So, a few days ago I replaced the video card 3070 with an RTX 4070 with 12GB VRAM.
I uninstalled the old driver, for the RTX 3070, with DDU, to be a thorough uninstallation, and installed the last available driver for the new RTX 4070.
After I started the game, and gave a benchmark, at the end, although I had more fps results than I had with the 3070, at “Suggested preset” it was: … Low (??!) and not Extreme, as expected, and as I had and with the 3070, even if it was weaker.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening, why does the game suggesting “Low” settings, now when I have a better video card ?

Best regards

So what settings are you running the game at now with your new GPU?

Same settings that I had and with the RTX 3070: Extreme

Same thing happens to me with halo infinite. I update graphics driver and the game loads (the main menu load) with visual settings set to low.

Could be a ms store game thing or else I need to restart pc before launching game

Edit: clarity apparently

I’ve done everything possible, Start and Restart PC, Reset the game, Uninstall and Reinstall the game, installed GeForce Experience and optimzed the game from there.
It remained only to go with this PC to o church, maybe he is possessed.

Now seriously, I start to believe that this is a game bug, not something which I can resolve from some settings or actions

Rollback to previous Nvidia driver. I’m having crashes after installing the April 18th update.

The version of the driver prior to the latest was Ok.

For this new video card are only two version of driver for the moment. I will try the first version, but not expect to much from him.

LE: with first version of driver for this video card is the same thing, so, I believe that I’ll give up, because as I said it seem that is not something resolvable by me.

So is the game defaulting to low each time? Is that the problem?

Oh no, but I didn’t say this never, the settings are remaining how I put them: to Extreme, I didn’t say that they are turning it self back to Low.

My only confusion is why after a benchmark, at the end, the game are suggesting me the settings to Low (??!!) as long as, my PC system is obiviosly that can do all to Extreme level.

I thought that, the game scanning every system and determine which setting level is optimal for the configuration found.
Isn’t that how that suggestion works?

Like I said, I have the same thing with halo so I personally don’t think it’s a fh5 bug

No, is not the same thing, you said that: “the game loads with low visuals.”

Or my game did not loading with the Low settings, but with ones which I setted, respectively: Extreme.
I repeat, the only my problem is that after a benchmark, where at finish the game suggesting Low preset, and I don’t understand why.
Why when I had RTX 3070, a weaker video card, the game suggested allways Extreme settings after a benchmark, and now, with a stronger video card, I get suggesting for: Low
So, is not the same situation as yours.
To me it is only that weird suggestion after benchmark

Fine, good luck trying to figure it out but it’s not a fh5 bug imo
