did a 1:51.662 in this tune, here’s the lap:

I got the 73 down to 1:53 and the defender down to 1:54…which for me is good. I keep running consistent 1:53’s in the sport though. Not sure which to use…but for an auto player I am going to stick with the 73 I think. Been itching to use it in a trial since FH4. I remember it was the first car I tried to tune 2 years ago when I began playing FH4 lol. I think I made a S2 out of it and didn’t know how to do anything lol. My car was all over…and I even had assists on. This one runs a lot better.

I take a few days off and I end up missing some drama. Your point is right though, people care about lap times and getting the most out of a car and the people here do a fantastic job at testing and comparing runs.

I don’t personally test 100’s of cars for championships, usually 1,2 or 3 because of time and the things posted here often helps point me in the right direction. If I do spend more time testing anything then it’s for PR stunts but I’ve always said my focus is to complete a challenge not shave a fraction of second off a lap time. There are better people than me out there if that is what you are after

ManteoMax has now posted playlist details.

Some information about my quick test for the Trial:

I’m surprised Watsonero77 isn’t promoting his tune more. I thought it was really good.

What sort of times are we looking at there?

I don’t do Leaderboards or Rivals. My main objective for The Trial is to help my team win and I look at other factors such as how did the car handle, how quickly was I able to overtake all 11 AI and what was the gap between me and the AI in 2nd place at the finishing line.

Having a car that can do a better time is relevant to all those things too.

I did this on Sunday with a tune that’s built the completely wrong way for Tropico, front + rear aero and nowhere near enough power for it, I’d get burned on launch by any human in a tuned car, have to navigate the inevitable 1st corner chaos as a result and have no pace to catch up to an AI if it pulled away from the pack if I used that on Thursday.

I’m not trying to start an argument here but results vs AI or how quickly you overtake them aren’t a reliable measurement, too many factors are inconsistent + outside of your control and I don’t know how good of a driver you are, if you can drive well consistently fair enough, if you can’t then it makes those factors even more unreliable, you might mess up a corner in one car but not in the other, or an AI might pull some random nonsense from nowhere on one attempt, or the 4th car you try you might drive it better simply through having more familiarity + knowledge of the course compared to the 1st one.

Where does it say that this is rivals testing?
I do believe that the topic is about preview of the playlist, and not ‘look at me, i am better than you because of my rivals time’?

lol he’s back

Omg you are better than me on rivals???
I am SHOCKED i tell you… Not sure how i will ever be able to continue…

ZZZzzzZZZ…

I am so sorry to break this to you, but a grand total of 0 people cares about my rivals times.

It is however quite fun, when someone thinks that i care, and in triumph announce that they are better than me. LoL

go away

I have yet to meet a single person who likes you, and I can see why

I’m new around here and I already don’t like him. Who is he?

Yeah unlike some other people, i tend to have stuff to do, rather than hover over the keyboard, hitting F5 every nano-sec.

And look at this, now i am gonna go to bed, should give you plenty of time to spam the usual 8-10 replies of ramblings.

Please, do tell me more about how you being faster in rivals, automatically makes you better at, well probably everything.

Re finishing times I’m not trying to start an argument either. I respect your driving skills and the amount of time and effort you put into guessing the tracks and car restrictions for The Trial and obtaining the times of cars and tunes in Rivals. Times are very important in determining the potential of car and tune combinations and narrowing choices to a manageable level.

But for the second step where I do some testing against AI on a blueprint of the first race, finishing times are less important simply because it’s a team event and points are awarded for overtakes rather than times. I do however take them into account. I’m an average driver, as good as I want to be, and set consistent times. I take care not to mess up corners or miss checkpoints and I look for opportunities where I can save time with a better driving line that the one chosen by the AI.

I’ve done a couple of Trials recently which might explain why in a team event I think finishing times are not the only thing that matters. The cars and tunes I chose had very quick launch and acceleration. I overtook all my teammates and the AI by the first corner. If I had been concentrating on a good finishing time and first place I would have kept accelerating and left the other cars behind. The danger in that is that you are putting a lot of faith in the ability of your teammates and the cars and tunes they have chosen. In The Trial I’m a team player not an individual so I slowed down let the other cars catch me up and used tactics to hold up the AI. If any of my teammates want to overtake me I’d let them. I’ve been first second and third on the podium several times and it no longer is all-important to me. The team won both Trials easily by a healthy margin.

Now that we definitely know the car restrictions I’ll give my top 4 another run out before the Spring playlist goes live. There was less than half a second between your and geist’s tune so the order could change. I won’t be choosing the Velar. I didn’t like the handling and although at one stage it did a good finishing time it didn’t place first. Possibly in an event where there’s one human against 11 AI, matchmaking plays a part.

From my understanding @TheGillesMuller tries to give an overview over the general performance of the cars based on one of the Trial tracks.
For such a task you want to eliminate as many variables as possible. Same fast & consistent driver, no AI, clear conditions, controlled environment.
Thus, Rivals is the place to do it.
The only builds missing are powerbuilds and others that require m/mc to work (overrev builds).
