Definitely! I wasn’t aware the Peel Trident was more widely known than the 488 Pista. Or even a Berlinetta Boxer.
The problem with this game is pretty simple: too much Jaimin and not enough Alex and Rebecca.
P.S.:
It’s not my intention to say oddball cars are bad. I mean, I was the guy who defended the Atomic Punk being in FM7, and who didn’t mind the Cayenne and the Trackhawk in the DLC (though I did mind the Land Cruiser and the RAM Power Wagon). However, as of late, Forza has been a little sloppy with its modern cars.
The 2019 GT3 RS for example is a version without the Weissach package, which doesn’t set itself apart enough from the 2016 model as a result. For someone who claims to have a partnership with Porsche, this is the kind of detail that’s difficult to understand. The Apollo has buggy hubcaps, which ruin custom designs. The Agera RS was modeled after the One:1, which is wrong, as it’s based on the Agera (the part under the front lid gives it away). The F90 M5 launched with buggy LED headlights, the Corvette ZR1 launched with the wrong wheels and HUD logo on top of being uncompetitive in FH4, the AMG GT 4-Door lacks the Race suspension upgrade…
As a fan of cars, I want to see the best of Porsche going against the best of Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc., and currently we don’t have that, we have the 991 GT2 RS, the Corvette ZR1 and the McLaren 720S (two of these brought from FM7, in fact) but no Ferrari 488 Pista, no Huracán Performante, no Aventador S… We don’t even have the 991.2 generation of the 911 Turbo, nor the new 718 models (Boxster and Cayman), which have few changes from the old ones but they’re the latest. There’s a strong Renault presence in the game but no Alpine A110 (apart from the classic of course), which is strange.
In FH4 it seems there was a bigger priority in collaboration with custom designers like DeBerti, RTR, Hoonigan, even Barrett-Jackson, and not enough with the prestige manufacturers many people love. The relationship with Ferrari in particular seems to have become a little too weak for my taste, which is a shame since there’s many important Ferrari models yet to make it into Forza, both classic and new. The only new Ferrari in FH4 was the GTC4 Lusso (the 599XX Evo came to FM7 months before) and the Ferrari Spotlight month in FM7 featured the 599XX Evo (a returning car) and the GTC4 Lusso from FH4.
It’s hard to be hyped up for a Karmann-Ghia when we already had it in FM7. It should be in the game but not on its current terms: an additional car added 11 months after release and on top of that a timed exclusive. Besides, the Beetle in Forza needs lots of updates (track width, for one) and customization options… It really needed the “Mini Cooper” treatment before the Karmann-Ghia IMO, even though the Karmann-Ghia is actually one of my favorite cars from VW.
