Separate USB pedals not recognized on PC?

Can anyone confirm whether standalone usb pedals, connected directly to the computer (not through the wheelbase) are recognized by FM23?

I’ve got a set of Fanatec Clubsport v1s that i usually connect to my wheelbase via rj12. Normally they work fine, but recently I’ve been having some issues with jittery pedal input, and wanted to test and see if maybe it was due to the connection.

I unplugged the rj12 and connected the pedals via usb. They’re recognized fine in the control panel all pedals are showing the correct input when i depress them.

But in Forza, when i go to try and configure them, Gas shows up as “Device3:Axis3”. Which is fine. But then i go to assign the brake, and it then becomes Device3:Axis3 and the gas becomes Unassigned. Same happens with the clutch pedal.

What gives?

Ok, managed to get the individual pedals recognized by starting with the Blank Layout preset. For some reason if i just edited an existing layout, i got the previous behavior of the clutch, brake, and throttle all being recognized as the same input axis.

Problem now, is that although the game recognizes all inputs from both the pedals and the wheel while driving, with this setup i can no longer use my wheel to navigate the game menus. The joystick doesn’t work, i can’t press A to confirm, B to go back, nothing.

But like i said, while driving, everything works and is recognized. Very frustrating. Going to check with some other games to verify.

Any ideas/ suggestions welcome.

I also have custom standalone usb-pedals
somehow I managed to assings all buttons on my wheel
but something is mixed up like X is now confirm instead of A etc.

I never looked into it to change it because I use the controller for the UI.

The UI is basicly copy/paste from previous titles and made exclusive for controller and they failed to create a enhanced useability from ground up for all other inputmethods.

Thanks for the reply. It’s just annoying, when i had the pedals connected to the base, i could navigate the menus with my wheel, no problem.

Now with the pedals connected through usb, i can only use mouse and keyboard to navigate the menus. I’ll have to mess around with it some more, i guess, and hopefully stumble upon something.

I submitted this issue in the form of a ticket back in November.

Not sure why, but FM23 recognizes all axes as one. For my CSL V2s, I think the clutch or throttle was overriding everything else.

Yeah, something is really weird with how the game recognizes devices. The only way i could get it to recognize the pedals as having 3 different axes was by starting with a blank template preset. My previous layout preset, where the pedals were connected to the wheelbase, everything detected correctly and worked fine. So with the new preset (usb pedals), I went through and made sure that every other listed control was mapped identically to the “good” preset…but no matter what, I could no longer use the wheel to navigate menus as long as the pedals were connected via usb.

Anyway, I managed to fix the problem that had me start down this rabbit hole in the first place: the jittery throttle input. I decided to disassemble the pedals and give everything a thorough cleaning (which i had never done before in roughly 13 years of use!) Several dozen filthy paper towels later, I’m back in business! Reconnected the pedals to the base, and all appears to be working as it should. :+1:

Still…this really seems like something T10 ought to look into. I’m sure there must be others out there with USB pedals who are having similar problems.
