I only played FH4 from forza games and I couldn’t use horsepower and metric at the same time.
Choosing metric made power displayed in kilowatts but no one is using that where I live, and so I had to play with calculator to know how much power car had.
So suggestion is ability to choose different unit of measure for every type of data.
I want to pick each unit of measure for each item.
Horsepower in bhp
Torque in ft.lb
Weight in kg
Tyre pressure in psi.
I’m from Canada and although we are technically an “SI units country” it’s more of a mixed bag when it comes to cars.
Speed is in km/h
Weight is in kg
Engine power is in hp
Engine torque is in ft•lb
Tire pressure is in psi
These are in the specified units on our actual car and part labels. Even for imported cars and European/Japanese dealerships.
More detailed use of units is unofficially as follows:
Power/Weight ratio is in hp/kg
Ride height, alignment, suspension stuff is in inches
Force is in N (suspension torque often becomes N•m)
Springs however often in imperial lb/in
When actually working on cars the units for these can vary, like the bolts might be metric on German cars but imperial on American - so you need two sets of tools. But for the average driver, they understand and use inches, especially when it comes to ride height, wheel diameter, etc.
I’m glad Forza Motorsport improved on the previous iterations by allowing km/h and hp to be used at the same time. The rest could use some tweaking.
Thanks
Yeah, it’s been too long already. Forza should let us pick units individually for speed, mass, power, torque and power-to-weight ratio.
I live in Brazil, and would love to be able to have:
Power: BHP (crank horsepower)
Torque: (KGFM or NM (since NM is pretty straight forward to convert to our standard KGFM)
Mass: KG
Speed/Distance: KM
If we choose metric to get km/h speedometer, then we’re stuck with KW for power and kw/kg for power-to-weight ratio, and those are hard to convert by head to our standard BHP (power) and KG/HP (power-to-weight).
This should be an relatively easy fix and yet we’re stuck between a rock (mph instead of km/h) and a hard place (kw instead of HP) when it comes to measuring units. It’s been too long, Turn10.
In Forza Motorsport 8, under each of Home->Race->Free Play->Advanced Event Setup->Select Car->Cars->Car Specifications and Home->Race->Private Multiplayer->Create Event->Cars->Car Specifications, the units for Power min and Power max are given in HP and the units for Curb weight min and Curb weight max are given in LBS. This is true regardless of whether the value for Home->Settings->Gameplay & HUD->Units is Default, Imperial or Metric.
What I propose is that when creating a custom event, the units for Car Specifications are given using the event creator’s units from Home->Settings->Gameplay & HUD->Units. So, if the value for Units is either Metric or Default, where Default contextually means Metric, the units for Power min and Power max are given in KW and the units for Curb weight min and Curb weight max are given in KG, which are the same units displayed when viewing vehicle specifications during vehicle selection.
Likewise, and keep in mind that I haven’t tested for this, if a player joins a Private Multiplayer session that he/she never created, the units displayed for that player are given using that player’s units from Home->Settings->Gameplay & HUD->Units, regardless of whether the custom event was created using those same units, or not.
And, of course, if there are any other parts of the game where units of measure never change regardless of players’ unit settings, they should also be rectified.
We have the option imperial with HP and LB, and metric with KW and KG.
But please must to be other option to have HP and KG at same time.
In Forza Horizon 5 we have it, why go back now??
It’s super común use horsepower and kilogrammes in Latinoamérica and Europe.
Please make possible choose that option.
Thanks!
My thoughts exactly, in southwestern europe atleast, we use the metric system for everything, but we still refer to engine power in HP, so having the ability to individually chose unites of mesurement like in FH5 is practicly a necessity for me
Yes that’s easy problem to solve for Turn 10, but greatest thing to us.
Please solve it ASAP!!!
In Europe we have lots of countries where the speed is measured in Km/h and the power in bhp.
Forza Horizon did a great job allowing to us selecting this, I do not understand if the game is telling me that a car has 220 kW as we do not use this unit for referencing the power of an engine.
Now, the new FM it’s a step back, please add this option like we have in FH!
I’ve identified the following quantities and units that should probably figure in a nice “Units” menu.
- Speed: km/h, mph
- Power: kW, PS, hp
- Mass: kg, lbs
- Torque: N.m, ft.lb
- Volume: L, cu in
- Pressure: Pa, bar, psi
- Length: mm, cm, in
Letting players choose individually is really the best option. I mean, I haven’t checked through all the tuning menus (and why would I when most are locked until you spend hours unlocking part), but considering kilowatts is the metric power unit chosen (as opposed to the in-my-experience more common metric horsepower), I’d expect tyre pressure is either given in pascals, or is left in imperial no matter what.
Horizon 5 was better than this game for this, but can we get an independent choice for every unit of measurement in the game? We’re a bit funny in the UK. We like mph, psi, degrees celcius, and the boat’s out on kg vs. lb (but I like kg). A simple toggle in the menus instead of a blanket “metric or imperial” would be great.
Can we be able to customize some metrics specifically?
Like be able to choose KPH but have Lbs and HP and Ft-Lbs of torque.
The idea is to choose every telemetry unit by myself. Maybe I want some metric an some imperial measurements. We could choose by a slide option what the player want to show for tunings etc.
For example I want this mixed
Temperature in Celsius
Power in horsepower, not kilowatt
Length in meters, not inches
This would be great

Currently, we can choose between Metric and Imperial. However, even with Metric units selected, there are still Imperial units lingering in the menus.
Specifically, in the rules menu, where power and weight restrictions all are coded to Imperial units. It should go without saying that if I pick units in the options, they should be used consistently throughout the game.
Turn 10 in this game has given more accessibility even to blind people, which is very good.
You have to know that making this choice possible is very important, it is as if the game spoke to us in another language than the chosen one, in fact I have to play it with the Google converter to be able to understand it.
It is a small change that they have to make and it gives enormous information to be able to enjoy it and make it more immersive.
Please implement it with the first update. Thank you.
Yea I’m a FM guy so it’s always been a frustration for me but when I saw that FH allowed you to select individually it had me excited for FM8 to follow suit. Disappointed.
We need to b able to choose whatever unit we want, it’s frustrating that this isn’t a thing after all these years.
I read online that FH5 has it now, howcome not FM2023?
PLEASE FIX <3
Please T10 include that option in PATCH 2.0
It’s and English speaking forum and have at time 21 votes!!!
Not all the people who use hp and kg at same time in all Europe, Latin America, West Europe, Asia, India etc speak English and can grite here.
PLEASE INCLUDE THIS SIMPLE OPTION WHO HELPS A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE PATCH 2.0
