RWD cars all slide when change gears coming out of the corners and slide when apply full throttle

Hello everyone;

I have some RWD cars that I have been tuning and I discovered that when I change up a gear and apply full throttle at the same time my car slides out from the rear. I have tried fixing this but to no avail can anyone out there please help it would be much apprecited

Thanks Airbrners

Reduce the accel settings on the differential. Will cause more understeer though. Or you can increase rear downforce. As for driving style be in the gear you want coming out of corner before you enter the corner not gearing up/down on corner exit. I hope this helps

It might be that you are shifting into a gear when the speed of the engine is too slow to drive the wheels with the gear you are in, so some gear tuning might help

It might also be the nature of the engine you are using, if it has a lot more power at low revs than high, so when you shift up you are getting more power than you did near the red line (turbo engine)

Or it might be a combination of everything mentioned so far

But I think it is most likely the diff

stop mashing the trigger.

Thanks for the responses but the diff settings are 8% accel and 15% deccel. I probably do mash the trigger (thanks DUST) I will try and increase rear downforce. BUT. This happens when i come out of the corner and im on like the straight part of it and then i change gears and suddenly the back goes. I have tried softening and stiffening front and rear of car but nothing is working. I appreciate the help but is there anything else i can do other than stop mashing the accel trigger?!

Sounds like a massive amount of torque and probably needs TCS to manage it and be competative. Which car is it anyway because i need a car for drifting and this sounds ideall

I agree with the Dust completely. It sounds like throttle control 100%. Especially if your accel is 8%. That is super low. Did you recently move up classes? When you get to A and S the throttle control actually starts to matter quite a bit.

Instead of learning every fact about tuning, I’d just recommend following Dust’s hinted advice and try to manage your throttle better. Not to mention, you can use throttle management skills in cars that are stock too, not just ones you’ve tuned for a couple hours…

Just remember, if something you’re doing while racing is good for drifting, unless you’re doing rally, you’re probably doing it wrong. When I’m drifting and I want to initiate, one of several things I can do is do a simple tap of the clutch at full throttle and it’ll immediately make me lose rear traction and start sliding. Use that knowledge and say, “Okay, if I exit a corner and the only thing causing me to slide is shifting up, I need to lower the amount of throttle I’m using slightly at the moment I shift.” That should fix the main bit of your issues. Now, if it’s sliding on downshifts, doing some slight rev-matching can help reduce that, or just be really good with your brakes and try to control it.

Sorry about my poor explanation, but I hope this helps you to some extent.

A combination of throttle control and tcs works well in high powered rwd.softer rear springs 1 or 2 clicks can help sometimes.

Accel setting is too low for the power, you’ll be getting the inside rear spinning with it that low.

Are you running any tires or tire width?

Are you using sim steering?

Are you running FM4 camber or mega camber?

The car and car class is needed since the fact it being rwd is too vague.

Agreed that accel looks too low.

The car is a 2008 BMW E92 M3 RWD A700

I have race tire compound and full tire width and rim size

I use normal steering most of the times but for testing this car i was using sim steering

Hope these tidbits of information help clear things up and thankyou all for the help

Ah the BMW, its a difficult car to drive in any class. I set one up for the executive sport lobby a while back, with a lot of success. Try a diff setting of 22/22 worked a charm for me. As someone else suggested soft rear suspension works, especially well for this car. I would’nt bother turning on TCS as it will be good practice for you with throttle control. Try short shifting, thats shifting up before you would have and being in a higher gear than you normally would be. You may feel your going slower at first but you have more control and the lap times dont lie.

Thanks so much man ill try this in a bit and see if it helps at all

I mash the trigger and I wont ever stop doing so. I have solved that issue to the most I can by dropping all dif setting to 0% and lowing my springs, rebounds, and anti roll bars very low to just about bottom out. 99% of the time if I do slide its cause I give the brakes a quick tap for a sharper turn.

Do you have any tunes that work? I would love to try one. Very different approach then I have ever heard of.

That does sound like it is more driver input issues than necessarily car issues. From what i have read the others are pointing you in the right direction. Be in the gear you want to accel in before you enter the corner (im guilty of not doing this when im pushing to hard and it costs me lots of time). Next you have to treat that throttle like a baby. A little goes a long way on the exit of the corner.

Now the tune still could be the issue. I usually run about a 30/10 diff setting or some where close for front engine rear wheel drive. Also your front sway bar could be to stiff and not letting the rear of the car rotate the correct way. I usually keep mine between 12 and 20 pounds. There are hundreds of variable that can cause these issues but try what everybody has said and give more feedback on what the cars are doing afterwards

Thanks man i appreciate u helping me i will be sure to change the tune and my driving style and see if that works otherwise i’ll just turn TCS back on and give it some jandaL !!!

Let me know if it does as im just guessing at your build/tune. I struggled with the beemer at first but it taught me better throttle control and im glad i put the effort into it. Best tip i can give you is dont go full power till your steering straight, be patient
