Carrying on the Yellowbird’s baton of the fastest production road car, the CTR2 Sport upped the ante considerably. The twin-turbo F6 now made 702 PS, helping the CTR2 to a 2nd place (overall, in a street-legal car) at the 1997 Pikes Peak hill climb and winning many other races in the USA. The pictured example sold for almost 700 000 € in 2020. In 1998, the McLaren F1 reached 386 km/h, which would remain unbeaten for almost 10 years until Bugatti came along, but I would wager the CTR2 Sport would have beaten that, given enough tarmac and favorable gearbox settings. The 520 PS “regular” CTR2 was already capable of 350 km/h…
