As mentioned above, after UK SD1 production finished the tools were sold to Standard Motors in India where it was briefly built and sold using a quite old and small 2.0 litre four cylinder marketed as Standard 2000.
British Leyland evaluated the possibility of marketing an estate version of the SD1 early on, two prototypes were built which differed slightly in their design, both prototypes survive to this day and are on display in UK motor museums.
The likely first and most photographed prototype with a conventional tailgate is on display by the BMIHT in their museum in Gaydon:
The second prototype has a differently arranged clamshell-style tailgate and badging, this car was also upgraded in the late 70’s to a slightly later and higher spec which included some equipment found in the regular series 1 1/2 Vanden Plas versions, it was used extensively as personal transport of the BL chairman at the time Michael Edwardes and regularly spotted being used by him publicly (rather unusual for a prototype). This car now resides in the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford (UK):
