A ton of race categories in real life uses rolling start, also add this feature in private multiplayer with qualifying and tire wear multiplier
I believe having a simple start process like this would alleviate if not completely eradicate the first corner issue that seems to have always plagued Forza online.
We need rolling starts with about 0.4 second between each driver. This would bloody overcome the lap1 carnage and also encourage drivers to practice and put in good quali laps because each position is worth much more on the grid!
But they don’t… all the cars are all bunched up still… especially on tracks like Nurburgring GP where the first corner is a tight hairpin….
Yes, qualifying is a bit pointless since you all end up side by side 100m down the road. Need rolling starts.
So how does a rolling start change this? Everybodies all bunch up anyways and turn 1 is still always a mess…
How do you not see the logic… It gives more time for drivers behind you to react to your braking, give them time to swerve around you. if you are literally on the bumper of the car in-front of you, you have no chance. Guaranteed accident.
GT7 does rolling starts and it just makes for cleaner racing, especially on lap 1.
The one thing it would definitely alleviate is the difference in luanch abilities of some cars, especially in the Forza GT hopper. You know if you have an Audi, Porsche, or Ferrari behind you, it’s going to get a massive jump on you at the start. Rolling starts would still need a larger gap to alleviate the 1st corner carnage though. People don’t understand the accordian effect and throw themselves in the slowing mass in front of them.
Add the rolling start at least to forza gt series, it doesn’t make sense to have a standing start with gt3/gt4… cars
Rolling start in Forza GT please

Having a pace car would be awesome aswell, but it is not necessary.
Automatic rolling start: just like previous forzas
Rolling starts already exist in the game in single player, why can’t they be in multiplayer?
Rolling starts should absolutely be a feature of multiplayer, if not for the others then especially for the Forza GT series. Rolling starts have been a staple of many motorsport racing series and would give at least one bit of authenticity to the racing in multiplayer.
some of the P/X cars wont even launch in 1st gear… just sit at the starting line stuttering
Would like to see this in the GT lobby
.5 in a row by row basis. It still is fun to go wheel to wheel in turn one with someone at least.
Was going to make a thread but there’s one already, good.
Rolling Starts would be a welcome addition to Private Multiplayer, they already exist in Free Play.
Rolling Starts would also be a welcome addition to Featured Multiplayer, particularly in R, P and X classes where some drivers stall off the start line due to their downloaded setup, and assist settings.
Rolling Starts in general would lead to cleaner grid launches and potentially fewer incidents into Turn 1.
As others have mentioned, Rolling Starts are common in many race series, particularly sportscar-based ones such as IMSA, WEC, and so-on.
Rolling starts would also be a massive boon for TC/GT classes where the cars are supposed to be balanced evenly, yet some cars get rocket launches and others do not. Even if the cars are balanced evenly, this creates a big imbalance on race starts.
Very few racing series actually start the race from a dead stop. Personally I think the only series that should start from a stopped grid is the formula Mazda series. Regularly racing tracks like Daytona and Miami there needs to be rolling starts. I mainly frequent the touring car races and wouldn’t mind to run a test for an update to update with rolling starts in the touring and GT races. I think this would not only make the races feel more realistic but also hopefully help with T1 chaos. What do y’all think?
I’m sure this suggestion already exists but I’ll vote for it again.
The lack of this feature is one of the reasons I don’t host private lobbies.
Also it would help with start line issues in many Featured Multiplayer series, especially those in higher classes.
