Rivals Challenge - FH5 Edition

Sorry if I’ve created an upset for you buddy.

Have a lot of players on my friends list. . If I get a notification from somebody on a track I like I’ll usually give it a go.

I think I got 8-10 from you last week? Not sure when they all came in as I hadn’t been in fh5 for a while nor had I done any fh5 rivals in a while so I had notifications from other players as well.

I love getting notifications as rivals is what I like to do. Easy to solve tho just unfollow me and you shouldn’t get notifications.

It’s really nothing personal and nothing to do with you if I haven’t gotten a notification from you. :v::peace_symbol:

Late, late, late reply… I seem to recall you had eithr a flagged or a really slow time set there at least I had . Improved massively on that track that day. I like the track for Rivals but when it pops up in The Trial it’s massacre.

I keep it simple. I’ve been playing both FH4 and 5 (nearly) from the start and still don’t know which cars are supposed to be the “meta ones” and I don’t want/need to. Sure from the LB I can deduct some, but don’t care.
There’s a sentence I picked up from a song that I have myself remembered in cases like these “Therefore not to expect, ensures no disappointment”.
Think you’re doing a great job , just enjoy yourself and forget about the rest.

I honestly don’t recall, but I’m sure it was one of those as, like I had said, I hadn’t spent a lot of time on that track prior. I know I ran it in response to your initial notification & then after receiving your second one to that time, I decided to give it a proper go with Gilles’ NSX-R & ended up improving my time considerably after that.
It can definitely be a frustrating track, but I agree, I ended enjoying the challenge of it in the end.

Scratch that last message, if any of you saw it well I found out some good news after posting it, since Xbox changed how friends and following function not long ago you can now deal with any irritating, sweaty, zero originality players who obsess over you by simply forcibly removing them from even following you.

Ridiculous that it should even have to come to that though, if after more than 3 years people can’t come up with their own ideas with nearly 900 cars available or create their own fun that doesn’t involve shoehorning themselves into other people’s then I don’t know what that says about them.

Well I do but you know…forum rules and all that.

Perhaps we can revive this thread in the future whenever we found out FH6’s release date and give this game a send off before we all move on to wherever the next one takes us, because after all the great stuff in the 6720 or so posts beforehand I really don’t want my final posts + memories of this thread to be me complaining about the worst and most annoying type of Rivals player.

Complete and utter tripe.

I had no time at all on D Ruta Norte until Wednesday and ended up thinking of this as a fun idea for something different, never tried it AWD + stock tires or even considered it in all my time playing the game before this.

But nah of course I couldn’t even have 1 single day without this nuisance who’s fixated on me latching on to it could I  this guy would never come up with anything like this off his own back in a million years.

I thought I made it clear last time for them to go away and leave me alone but evidently not as this kind of stuff has still been continuously happening since, it’s a shame such a good player + one of the best tuners I’ve ever come across in the game ruins both those things by being the most desperate and sweaty player I’ve ever associated with.

I said nothing to their poor excuse for an explanation last time further up the thread for the sake of keeping the peace but this obsession is beyond a joke now, when I can’t even fully enjoy running something brand new to me because I know it’s 100% guaranteed that that sweat will be all over it if I happen to accidentally pass him then it’s gone beyond reasonable and harmless fun.

As an aging would be hippie of sorts, could some kind of peace be reached between you guys, it’s only a game not to be taken too seriously, you are both Excellent drivers and tuners, ‘rivals’ as far as I’m concerned is all about beating rival times, not a personal vendetta, although having said that sometimes I won’t go after someone I know in case it is taken seriously, just saying is all. :+1: :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

We’d have had that peace if he just buggered off like I implied further up the thread back in October, I want nothing to do with sweaty players at this stage of the game, just because I happen to finish high up a lot of boards doesn’t mean I want some desperate nuisance fixating on me because he’s incapable of thinking of things to do for himself.

Any normal person who read my posts in October would have gotten the message to leave me alone, but clearly he still kept me on his friends list so he could keep track of anything I do.

Why also would a good MC player take that approach with an auto user of all people? It would be like me doing it to someone who always plays with TCS + STM on, it makes no sense and just isn’t normal.

Check out Valle Del Rio this week alone for a perfect example, I use a Prelude and get it to a good spot considering it’s not even a strong car, he gets just in front of me in the sweatiest car the Integra and his time hasn’t moved a jot since, exactly what I predicted to both @Bravo437 and @Abell_370 would happen, despite there being 2 Integra times ahead of him using the same assists.

If it wasn’t about me specifically he wouldn’t have chosen to sit on what is a bang average time for a good MC user in an Integra on there, but hey he’s ahead of TheGillesMuller so that’s his entire day made, because somehow beating an unusual/quirky car using auto player with MC using a meta car that only works with MC is something amazing evidently  it must be considering he’s done it to me countless times now, to the point that I can predict it without fail.

I’ve just had enough of it and clearly my less direct approach last time was pointless, I and nobody else I know on here would want to put up with this at this point, it’s beyond ridiculous.

Ok, I get your point, maybe just ignore it and just carry on placing your times, it can be inspirational to some players to compete with those times is the way I look at it :+1:

If someone uses MC pauly then a lot of the time there is absolutely nothing amazing about them beating any auto user, any car that has a shift penalty or has certain engines is heavily hindered in auto, even standard manual still suffers from shift penalty if it’s present, MC however completely gets rid of both of those problems.

I have no issue with that aspect, it’s part of the game and there should be an advantage for those players, but someone exploiting that fact to be an annoying pest hanging off the coattails of an auto user I do, considering this has been going on for months I think my patience with it and him has been rather generous.

This laughable attempt at taking me on evenly is far, far too late and just proves further the points I’ve already made, that they’re fixated on me and can’t come up with their own ideas despite being more than good enough of a driver + tuner to have a load of viable options available to them.

Ok, point made, as an auto user trying to get used to m&c ( It’ll never happen, too old :face_with_hand_over_mouth: ) I get what you’re saying, but I still feel, just don’t stress about it, it’s not worth it :+1:

As someone who only usually runs rivals now to try out tunes for playlist stuff I have the same thinking as TGM where a couple of people on my friends list, one a m/c user, then use meta cars and cars that obviously don’t fit in the upcoming playlist to beat my time

I now just delete any rivals notifications that come up and go about playing the game the way I want

And still it continues  this time with the Exige I mistakenly ran on Cloverleaf a few days ago when I still thought that British Racing Green was the restriction.

So either removing followers doesn’t work or this guy is now manually looking for me on boards, either way I have never seen such ridiculous and plain weird obsession, I’ve been ranked #1 in the world on another game and never had anything like this from anyone there, I knew that was coming the moment I accidentally landed ahead of him with the initial build for my Exige.

Thank God we never had anyone as bad as this in the group when it was properly going under Jezza or I’d have just quit.

Just want to send out a general apology for any Rivals notifications that anyone may be receiving from me. I’ve been running quite a few different races/classes lately for something to do & definitely don’t want the byproduct to be spam notifications filling up your inboxes🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well & you all have a safe & happy holiday.

Never a problem buddy. I generally either just delete them or save them up for when there’s nothing to do, so something to chase later while testing tunes.

And same to you my friend and of course everyone else.

Long overdue to resurrect this thread, so I’m taking this opportunity to do so. Really not sure who is even around anymore from this group, but even after all these years, there a few of us still enjoying Rivals.
Been revisiting some tracks on Rally Adventure & having a lot of fun improving some old times & setting some new ones. Just finished a run in B class on “Three Hills” with the classic Mini & an excellent tune by @TheGillesMuller, which I highly recommend (SC: 948 655 253). Thought I’d share the run for anyone interested.
We’ve had a lot of fun over the years here; miss those times. For anyone still checking in, hope everyone is doing well. Cheers all! :clinking_beer_mugs::oncoming_fist:t2:

Hi buddy, nice to see the thread used again and nice to see some of us still around. I see you’ve not lost it… nice lap :+1:

Seems like only yesterday we were running that course, how time flies and I miss those days also.

I’m still keeping my hand in with running rivals (albeit with a small group run by Chevychase13 & CRW209), nice group of chaps and some good & fast drivers. So as always, apologize for any notifications coming through to anyone.

I hope your all still burning rubber and revving high :automobile: :+1: Keep well guys.

I haven’t been gaming at all for the last couple of months. I had a short FH5 session about two weeks ago which brought back the feeling of wanting to do more. After that mainly enjoyed the weather after work, so no Rivals done yet. I noticed someone was improving times on HW tracks.

Hey Gab- good to see you’re still around & can definitely understand taking a break, particularly at this stage of the game’s life. Revisiting Rivals has been one of the few things that I’ve continued to enjoy. Been having fun back in RA most recently & chasing my times to try to improve, but haven’t spent any time in HWs in ages.

We definitely had a lot of fun here back in the days when it was really active, as is pretty evident by the stats. Miss the group & the camaraderie, but still appreciate having been part of it & what it did to help me improve overall. If you feel like giving it another go, the “Three Hills” track above has been a lot of fun.

I was there last week but only getting rid of my dirty times, I don’t have it in me to take HW Rivals one bit seriously.
