Is Forza Horizon 5 the best racing game currently available? Despite its flaws, I’d say so. Is it the best racing game of all time? Heck, no. Not even in the top ten. People and the reviewers calling this the best racing game ever have clearly only played Mario Kart and this to make such a bold claim.
Making bold claims is good for clicks. It all depends on the criteria.
Forza Horizon is in its own category within racing games. It is not so much a racing game as it is an open world car-fun game (with races as well). Some games have tried, but none ever came close as far as I know.
If you just go by the sheer number of cars, races, possible tracks (with event labs) and other things you do in cars, no game gets close (and it easily beats games like Assetto Corsa and Project Cars).
If you are all about realistic racing, with a wheel especially, FH5 is a terrible racing game.
If you are all about throwing Koopa shells from a kart driven by Bowser, Mario Kart wins hands down.

You have cars, you have races, so it’s a racing game, and my wheel works just fine. The condescension here is off the charts in your post.
I’ve seen nothing condescending there. FH5 is terrible, if you’re looking for a realistic racing game with a wheel. Physics are arcade, force feedback is subpar. He doesn’t say, that FH5 is a bad game, but if you have a proper wheel, you have loads of more realisic games to play. The Forza series never was realistic. That’s nothing new. Motorsport is a simcade at best, but people always think that this is a bad thing. If I want to play a fun arcade game, I turn to Forza Horizon, if i want to play a nice simcade, I turn to Motorsport or Gran Turismo and if I want a realistic sim, then i turn to rf2, AC, ACC or something along those lines. Each completely different genres and each great in their own aspects.
It could be the best racing game if 100s of bugs are squashed and Ranked is added back to increase longevity. Without ranked, horizon open is meaningless.
Also, please show individual person’s contribution in Horizon Arcade for healthy competition during event.
Probably only few “problem areas” in the game.

It is. H4 was more realistic but this is more fun. It could be easily the best.
It depends who/where wrote the review…a lot of reviews these days are simply to create flashy headlines so people click on them. personally, I rarely read reviews as it takes too long trying to weed out the useless reviews.
As to being the best racing game ever? That one is very much subjective and depends on the person. For me, Need For Speed underground 2 still is the best racing game of all time as it was the first racing game I’d played where it was open world…combined with the street racing aspect and the sheer number of car customisations, if I ever feel nostalgic, it’s the game I play. I also consider Gran Turismo 4 (It’s heresy I say) to be second on the list. Horizon 5, if not for the bugs, would be in my Top 5 purely on scope and graphics

Hey I’m sorry to ask but how old are you? 
To me it seems like you’re totally new to the world, it’s not the first (not even the 10000th) time that reviewers just post 10/10 votes and give awards to games that are pure shit.
You know, reviewing is an art, if you review good you get more games to be reviewed :'D if you are honest then companies will start to ask somebody else to review their game, until they find one that says “this Game is AwEsoOMeEE111!!!”.
So yep, this game is a partial fail, a very basic sandbox racing game with broken connectivity and no endgame at all, where leaderboards are 40% cheaters and 90% of the playerbase cares about which pair of socks do they equip to their character.
If you came here looking for a fun racing game I’m sorry to disappoint you, here’s casual gaming only, mario kart style (but worse).

my dude, i’ve been playing racing games since top gear on the snes. i’ve played all the gran turismo titles, all the f-zero games, rallisport challenge, sega gt, cruis’n, ridge racer, wipeout, and of course all the forza games, even street (lmao). if you can name a racing series, realistic or arcade, i’ve probably played most to all of the games in that series a whole hell of a lot.
and i would, in fact, say that fh5 is the best racing game of all time, even with the issues it has. my previous pick for best racing game ever was san francisco rush 2049. this game finally, finally unseated it after more than 20 years.

That’s called CASUAL games for your interest.
FH5 has GREAT physics in my opinion, driving is very funny indeed, but as a RACING GAME it’s below average.
Between the broken AI that doesn’t follow the game’s physics (which in turn makes the competitive offline mode UNTRUE) and the non-ranked online gaming this game has no real challenge.
Now, if you just play the game by yourself and with a group of close friends then of course you’re happy with it but it’s a long way from being the best racing game out there.
Racing games are about racing, not just you playing on your own

Wow. I don’t know how anyone can say that when it’s so objectively gutted compared to FH4 for example. But each to their own I guess.
I go back to 82/83. Fh5 is good, is it the best? No. But it is very good for what it is.
Most enjoyable casual racers…Burnout.
Most enjoyable SIM (console) Forza Motorsport.
FH3 was the first Horizon I enjoyed, I’ve been a huge Forza Motorsport fan coming from Gran Turismo.
Singling out on instance of a franchise and calling it the best is strange, there are parts of each game that are good or bad.
Personally I prefer FH4. But without anything to compare on my series X then I have to agree the additional items on quality mode are great. Roll on FM8

Your opinion differs from mine.
On my side i find it pretty hard to “define” best, considering how varied the Market is. Let’s say (in an extreme Example) you are into Funracer, what does it matter if we could factual decide that Horizon 5 is the best Racer to date, you still will find more enjoyment by playing the mentioned Mario Kart. I find it everytime pretty mindboggling when people start this huge witchhunt about Games in a Genre (like BF, CoD, Insurgency, Halo etc pick your poison) meanwhile most people who play this Games properly will tell you, while all of them are “Ego-Shooters” they are still to different too compare and taste have a impact. Of course there exist Games which are geniunly similiar, (look at Battlefront - and i’m not talking about the reboot made by dice themself) and we can talk about the overall quality / technical aspect of it, but quite often Tase is more the defining Factor. And that’s kinda the thing about FH5… people point out Stuff like Underground 2 or Burnout, i get ya, but this are entirely different type of Racing Games and offer quite a different experience. Like NFS underground is a pure “arcade” racer (like most NFS in general) and for Burnout you also must like crashing into Cars and trash them. Not mention the Setting itself. Forza Horizon (5) have a different take on, is more grounded and while arcade-racer it also carries over some realistic sim features over from the Main-Series. It’s a huge, explorative Sandbox Experience, without overdo it or trying to be an MMO like TheCrew(which is one of the reason i dislike TheCrew, i hate this forced online-only nonsense, i rather get encouraged like in FH with cool Online Features, but still being able to play offline-solo. Not to mention how accessable is for people who don’t enjoy this type of racing games in general.
Of course there is also the Quality Aspect to it, and i know and get that people are rn a bit frustrated and hurt over the Online-Functionality and some bugs, but for a game of this scale esp. this past years i’d argue they rather had a smooth/good launch and is pretty high quality. So to sum up my point:
Yes, i actually find FH5 is “one” of the best Racing Games out there right now, to call it the “best” however is something which i’d argue have everyone decides for themself, because it matters what you are looking for and what you prefer.
Pretty sure reviews were calling it the best open-world racing game, not the best of all racing games ever.
