Repairing cars shouldn't be free

I’m a bit tired of ramfests in online parties. To establish a higher appreciation for cars, players should have to cover the cost of repairing their cars on their own. FM is not NfS and I’d appreciate people actually caring about their cars and not using ramming as a strategy, you don’t do that in real life either

Yes, some rally games have that. One car you got from start you could repair for free, but purchased cars not.

About ramming cars, I am annoyed in FM7 if you get rammed your lap is dirty too - at least as AI goes. So they should clarify who hits who, kind of.

I have the AI Limited Agressiveness on in FM7, dare not to think about how full agressiveness works. One thing in RX, but not in regular races, I think.

In Dirt 2 if you were cruel to one of AI, they would get back at you a few turns later on, that is ok I think. But if clean driving you should be left alone.

Lol! I didn’t even know about this. Funny.

But yeah, those games are more made for that. FM is not, or at least shouldn’t be imo. Ramming can happen - but not nearly as often as in FM multiplayer lobbies. It’s not only unrealistic but also unfun, it breaks the illusion for me personally

Have bought console some years after introduction mostly and also bought older cheap games and no online drivers left, kind of. So never bothered with multiplayer. Rely on that AI is good.

But online leaderboards such as for freeplay and rivals is really rewarding to see where you end up if improving as driver.

Even not having an as advanced tire model as modern games, Dirt 2 were ahead in time on some things.

Had the most common tunings, ride height, spring tension and brake balance and some more. And you felt difference in car driving it.

Damage model were rather advanced too, looking at a rammed car over finish line it really was demolished. And you felt it driving too and steering had to compensate to one side to go straight and such.

The amount of engine trouble I had touching a fence or something is a bit off in FM7 IMO. I barely could make it back to pit stop many times. No full blown crashes, almost touching a wall or something.

So hope for a real pitstop and decide what things to be repaired. You don’t want cold tires on every stop to warm up first before driving fully, as one thing. If a crashed head light for a night race you just want lights fixed.

Such details are also important.

Older Forzas had costs at the end of the race for damage caused to your car. It would be nice to see back! I remember how much more it would motivate me to race clean, as it felt really nice having none of my winnings subtracted after a long, hard, CLEAN race.
