A racing car that never spawned a production version, the R.S. 01 was a powered by a modern classic, the twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan GT-R. In this guise it produced 550 hp, which, along with the 1145 kg weight, makes it faster than a GT3 car. The R.S. 01 had a one-make racing series for two years, which saw former F1 drivers like Christian Klien and Robert Kubica behind the wheel. Its Dallara carbon fiber monocoque could have raced in LMP1 in 2014, and the car produces 1200 kg of downforce at 300 km/h. A mid-engined production supercar form Renault was always unlikely to happen, but the R.S. 01 is probably the closest it will ever get.
Didn’t they eventually modify the car to fit GT3 classification?
They did, and it won a couple of races, most prominently in the 2016 International GT Championship, but that version was slower, so less interesting. Detuned to 500 PS, about 100 kg of weight added and different chassis I think.
While true that it may be less interesting, I think its cool that they made it more relevant than a one make series though
Need this. They should make a new carpack featuring only track cars.
This will be a very fun car to race in the GT class.
You see, it’s 2016. Renault don’t use the RS branding anymore so it could be a hassle to obtain a licence.
We still have the R.S. cars like the Megane and Clio V6 in Motorsport.
I hope they add this in the GT3 Spec so that we can race it in ForzaGT
Totally agree!
Must own car in forza motorsport!
Argh, this is the Renault RS01 we need, not the 1977 RS01. Since when did a Renault RS01 exist in 1977? Wrong subject.
The Renault RS01 that should have been in Forza Motorsport is the 2014 model, not the 1977 model. The 1977 Renault RS01 does not exist in real life; it is a fictional car that only exists in Forza Motorsport.
???
I am disgusted that the Forza franchise didn’t feature the Renault Sport R.S. 01 while other games featured it. I know the R.S. 01 is old news, but please feature the GT-R-powered Renault race car anyway.
Dear Turn 10 Studios Team,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request the inclusion of the 2015 Renault #1 Renault Sport R.S. 01 in the upcoming or future editions of Forza Motorsport for Xbox Series X|S. As an avid fan of the Forza franchise and a dedicated player of the latest iteration, I believe this iconic vehicle would make an exceptional addition to the game.
The Renault Sport R.S. 01, a striking and technologically advanced car, made its debut in the 2015 Renault Sport Trophy. With its aggressive design, cutting-edge performance capabilities, and strong racing pedigree, the R.S. 01 stands out as a true modern motorsport icon. Featuring a 3.8L V6 twin-turbocharged engine and weighing in at just over 1,100 kg, the car offers an exhilarating combination of speed, handling, and style, which would perfectly complement the diverse array of cars already featured in Forza Motorsport.
The addition of the Renault R.S. 01 would not only enrich the game’s already impressive roster of vehicles but also offer players the opportunity to experience one of the most exciting and underrepresented racing cars in modern motorsport. Given its unique characteristics and prominence in racing series, including its memorable participation in the Renault Sport Trophy, I am confident it would be a popular choice among the Forza community.
As a loyal supporter of Turn 10 Studios and the Forza Motorsport franchise, I hope that you will consider this request. The inclusion of the 2015 Renault #1 Renault Sport R.S. 01 would significantly enhance the game’s appeal to car enthusiasts and motorsport fans alike.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the potential addition of this remarkable car to the Forza Motorsport series.
Sincerely,
Leopaul Del Rosario
