Removal Of Non-Harmful Glitches

So with this latest patch for the release of the Alpinestars Car Pack they have removed one harmless glitch that no one other than the drift community really cared about and that was being able to put stock/aftermarket bumpers on widebody cars, you know to make them look better than the forced Rocket Bunny/Liberty Walk only bumpers that the cars had.

But I’m curious to why they removed this glitch but have left other glitches that allow you to change the physical appearance of things you normally cant?

Like why not just add the option that allows you to put stock/aftermarket bumpers, sideskirts and such on widebody cars?

Some things like this are sometimes because of licensing requirements.

I guess that is somewhat understandable but it’s a shame that they made it so you can’t do it at all anymore because honestly it made cars like the S13, S14 and such so much nicer just because then you could have actually decent looking body kits but still have the widebody and the fitment of the widebody car…

I assume the glitch was in breach of their licensing agreement, I guess the widebody companies object to having other manufacturers parts mixed in with their kits.

Glitches are unintended consequences of various features in a game and as such must be fixed in order to prevent future issues from occurring. Whether they’re “harmless” or not is irrelevant.

I also agree with the fact they could have ignored the glitch - there are still glitches in place which actually cause playability issues and are abusable, yet glitches which make no difference to playability of the game, and add a more lifelike representation of customisation, are patched instantly.

It’s a shame this was announced as a feature by Ralph Futon originally, then when the game ships it is not a feature. Finally there is a way to do this and it gets removed straight away.

The most simple option would have been to add individual arch kits [Rear arch/front arch] to recreate some level of realism to customisation. They already limit the level of customisation dramatically and simply copy and paste everything going back as far as forza 4 - although in some cases offering less options.

It’s a shame they had to lie to us originally and still lack basic communication skills.

I’ve sent a tweet to Ralph - but i think the more people who do the more coverage this might get and they might actually start listening to the fans - as they’ve proved by releasing both S14s and re-releasing the FC.

The only car it “broke” was the Subaru BRZ. I really enjoyed drifting with my buds with my BMW E36 with just the rear rocket bunny flares. It looked awesome. We all didn’t have the same looking car. It was great.

I just wish Turn10/PG would see what the community is doing with their game - acknowledge it, and expand on it… especially using a glitch to get more from the game. I mean how amazing would it be if they saw it… “Oh, we saw what the community is doing with a harmless glitch, so we added widebody sections so you don’t have to go through the effort and bumpers stay available, but sideskirts do not. If you want just rear or quarter panels that’s up to you. Have fun!” kind of thing.

Swoop down, and save the day. Just silently killing it, come on. That sucks the fun out of it.

Totally agree MrDjax.

It goes against their Ethos of “Car lovers becoming gamers, and Gamers becoming Car lovers”

What car lover would want less ability to customise their car? What gamer would ask for less personalisation options?

It’s a huge shame - my friend has an S14 with wide front & rear arches , but no huge rear bumper or low side skirts - she almost recreated her car before the patch, but now is stuck with, in her words “a stupid oversized backside” on her car. I even feel gutted for her.

A glitch is still a glitch, which means not working as intended, therefor, it needed fixed. And it was.

But the problem with that is what about all the other glitches that actually effect the games play ability?
Or they going to just patch things like, people putting bodykits on widebody cars or people putting bigger stock wheels on cars?

Are they going to get addressed or are they just going to sweep the big things under the rug and patch the minor things that the majority of the players don’t care about since it doesn’t affect their experience playing the game.

Licensing… Company’s like Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk aren’t going to be happy that their kits are being misrepresented in a game because of a glitch that shouldn’t be there. NFS is no different. you can’t mix branded Wide Body kits together. It’s a licensing issue and any glitch that causes misrepresentation of company’s brand name or product will of course be fixed quickly

This.

And, not to mention, i doubt Subaru would be happy to see their BRZ driving around with body parts missing, and looking like a graphical nightmare.

It was a game breaking glitch visually as shown by the BRZ. All other aspects of the glitch are meaningless. Between Subaru, and the owners of the wide body kits, none of them would be happy to see their products messed with in such a way, and could lead to revocation of their licenses to Turn10 & Playground Games.

So instead of worrying about not being able to do a visual glitch which shouldn’t have been in the game to start with, just apply what body pieces you do like and enjoy the game

It was not meant to be in this game in this manner, but originally it was apart of the features before launch released by Ralph Fulton… So I dont see what jas changed. And tbh if it was to affect the image of these bigger companies, im sure they wouldnt care to that extent.

I don’t think these “big named” bolt-on body flare companies are branding themselves to be the Ferrari of bolt-on body flares. Actually, that’s hilarious if you think about it if the case.

I guess going by this logic. It must be rage-inducing that a officially licensed C-West front bumper on my officially licensed digital Nissan 240SX exists, but because I have selected a officially licensed INGS rear bumper selected on it, the corporate overlords must control their product in the game. But this isn’t the case, is it?

I think this would be different, if you remember in past Forza’s, that wide-bodied “tuner” cars where separate car models together under a car manufacture license - not an option.

Your first comment really has no relevance to what I said… Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk are the “hot” kits for the last few years and will no doubt have it in the contract with any game that is displaying their kits that they must display the full kit unlike the older company’s and kits (C-West, INGS, etc) which will have a much non-restrictive license agreement since they have been around for so long.

Licensing agreements would have changed this. If you don’t think they won’t care how their branding is represented, think again.

Yeah but not really. A glitch should affect the game in some sort of negative way if it needs removed. This glitch was completely harmless. Say what you want, but litterally all it did was add the ability for more customization and personality. And them patching the glitch… Whatever, it was cool while it lasted. What I am mad about is them patching all the cars that the glitch was already done to… What was the point of that? It’s not like players abused the game or did anything wrong by doing the glitch, so why the heck are they basically being punished…?

The rocket bunny kit with the origin front bumper is what really made me love the ps13 for me, i would love to have a full origin kit but the car is to high for me and it looks weird and out of place and the rocket bunny was the only way to make the car lower with a origin bodypart on it and make it look good. Its the same with the 240sx/180sx/s13, i want a wide body kit on the car without the weird pointless bumper canards and wires and things that don’t really belong on a car that is going to spend its time going sideways. I understand the removal of glitches like such as the invisible arches on the brz since the car is not suppose to have massive holes in the car and other glitches that break the game. Why not put some non brand wide body-kits like the ones on the kgc10 if its a licensing problem?

At least i get to play with a fc now…

So does Rocket Bunny [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] at every consumer who purchases their kits in real life and use different bumpers…? I’m not understanding this licensing logic.

It was patched because it was seen as broken. I just want to put a G-nose on my 240Z with RB flares, which is a real option on their kit… apparently forza disagrees? Anyone from turn10 have any input on why you guys felt like ruining my garage cars?

Don’t know if you noticed but this is a video game and Turn 10 pays to have licensing for these kits to be represented in game as the brand is meant to be displayed. Being able to add whatever kit you want to a car in real life has no correlation to how a brand is shown in game. Game licensing is completely different to buying a kit in real life.

But you can add forza bumper options and other brand hoods to their kits?
