Trying out the new Stadium Track last night in free mode, I noticed that virtually all cars that I tried (BMW, Porsche, Lambo Sesto, Mosler, etc.) severely understeer around the track. I tried adjusting car settings (TCS, ABS, etc.) and not much difference.
Is this track supposed to be raced around or drifted? If it’s for racing then I’d like to get a track tune from someone who can get around this faster than I can (which won’t be hard).
Also trying for a ‘speed’ accolade on this track is a bit rich, given there’s only one place I can see where it’s even possible, and not while the front end gives way at the slightest hint of a corner.
Finally, is there any difference between Free and Skill modes (ie. car drivability)?
Sierra 700R in A Class or below
I used Aston Martin Valhalla S2. Exceed 250km/h (in my case) and keep it on only one straight (turn back from Starting line). The hardest accolade through all Horizon Realms.
It does seem they tried to cram as much as they could into that stadium. Hot Wheels BTTB seemed quite at home on it if you don’t mind a lot of gas, brake, gas, brake, gas, brake, gas, brake, gas, brake, gas, brake, gaaaaaaaaaaaaas, repeat.
It’s just a bad circuit in general. Too many tight turns in too tight of a space. It reminds me a lot of the community created tracks in EventLab, which isn’t really a compliment.
It’s a lot of 2nd-3rd-2nd-3rd gear racing. Seems better with lower class cars, but needs to be scaled up to two or three times (probably four times) the length for racing in S1 or S2 class cars to be any good.
That speed skills accolade was a right pain to do since there’s really only on part of the track where you can get one. I used the FE Sesto, which had both the speed and the handling.
They don’t care about such things…. They will put it in an S2 trial probably.
I gave Skill mode a go last night, and the difference is night and day. For some reason, the Free mode makes the handling go all wonky and everything wants to understeer. I’ll admit it’s a track suited to lower-spec cars (A Class preferably) but I did manage to pull off the speed accolade by to just to-and-fro’ing my way along the longest part of the track. The Apollo IE seemed to take to it fairly well.
With a stadium made for there’s just not going to be a lot of room for a track. Horizon really needs a proper race park expansion. I drove there a bunch tonight and I really like the track, but for rivals/solo driving. Races would be a mess.
Reminds me of that one FH4 circuit through the village in the western part of the map, the one that was miserable in anything above B-class but always seemed to get thrown into S1 championships for some godawful reason.
Ambleside Village Circuit. Utterly awful, but of course there had to be a seasonal in S1 class. Wasn’t there also one in S2 class – probably in the rain?
I mean 9 out of 10 races in FH4 were wet/raining, so that wouldn’t surprise me.
That’s because in the UK it’s raining 90% of the time
Since they keep making tracks like this, I take it the devs never heard of Caesar’s Palace GP?
Oh I’m well aware, but they didn’t have to foist their terrible weather on the rest of the planet.
