[R/M)Reaper Motors MONTHLY RIVALS TUNE * UPDATED* 2/10/2014

Go to my last post for the rivals tune !!!

i have put together a D400 chevy camaro that is a good top 300-1000 car on most of the tracks minus Le Mans full

please feel free to post your thoughts of the tune here …all feedback is useful

the tune has been shared i will get working on the write up for the open source

Have always enjoyed your tunes i will pick it up when iget home .

thankyou for your download now please dont forget to leave some feedback

Good feeling tune . In more capable hands I think it will post some good times. I had it about a sec behind the mini in the rivals I ran it at. I just can’t seem to get the muscle cars to turn for me. Dont know if its just me but the brakes felt a little soft. Thanks for the tune and can’t wait to see what else you get tuned. It will get a big thumbs up.

hello forza community i have just shared my 1963 VW bug tune for the Giant Killer rivals event currently the legit #1 if you do not count the illegal cars on the lb. the car has some slight understeer due to it being rear engine and having a V8 in it now lol i suggest using TCS along along with patience when dealing with the traffic feel free to post you thoughts on the tune here

look for my GT reaper mech or RM giant killer in the share front to find the tune

i accept all feedback good or bad it helps make better tunes

Great setup easy to drive just enough oversteer to get that front end pointing the right way into corners,in general really enjoyed it and managed to set a new PB on Giant Killers before i got a headache from shouting at cars to move and rage quit lol.

well thats some great news hat you set a new pb and i know wha you mean about the rage quit lol i spent 50 laps trying to set the time i did

I took Super Herbie for a ride so I need to pay up. Awesome tune and once I got frustrated with the traffic I went hot lapping full and reverse. Matched my PB on lap 2 and surpassed it by lap 4! Both directions! Just ever so slightly nicked one of the walls de-validating the laps. What a time you posted, how do you keep from drafting over 100mph? Drafting wasn’t the reason my laps were dirty…

Oh that’s right you wanted feedback not necessarily praise - so here it comes. First I forgot to turn TCS on but I didn’t really have any trouble on a empty track. I did struggle with a strange brake lockup that I haven’t run into before. At times it felt like initial response was non-existent and once the car settled and It was time to start adding more I was already sliding towards the wall. What was strange is that it was random. The next lap it would grip and stop on a dime just like I’d expect it to, sometimes even more than anticipated. I have no idea what was going on or what I was doing differently from turn to turn and lap to lap.

Another thing I noticed when I was maneuvering through traffic and NOT when hot lapping was what I would call - a lightly damped lateral directional oscillation that was easily excited by the pilot resulting in pilot induced oscillations when conducting high gain maneuvers. That is IF this was a vehicle with wings that lifted up instead of down. In English that means if I wasn’t careful and controlled my inputs I could easily get the bug wondering all over the track because every time I turn the wheel it rolls and that roll couples through the suspension to cause a steering input that I didn’t ask for. I take a little steering out to correct causing less roll which causes less steering so I need add more back and off we go back and forth. I have no idea how much of what I am going to say applies to a car but ways to fix it might be:

  1. get a different pilot - one that either doesn’t excite the instability or and ACE that can control it. - I’m neither. You, obviously, are one if not both.
  2. change the control augmentation - change from normal to simulation steering to get a more predictable response . I can do this in D class with more grip than power but not in B class.
  3. alter the controller gain - change how much the tires move when I move the stick a degree. Can’t - but changing the deadzone might. I could rant for hours as to why it’s the controller not the cars that I fight. But I’ve always been underwhelmed with wheels and if I’m going to spend a grand on a steering wheel, pedals, and cockpit It had better have an engine and 4 tires attached!
  4. Raise the roll frequency above the drivers excitation frequency of of approximately 3Hz - Stiffen up ARB and/or Springs with a corresponding increase in damping (rebound & bump) to keep the damping ratio constant. But this is Prague.
  5. Increase the roll damping (rebound & bump) to damp out the osculations faster.
  6. Increase or Decrease initial turn response depending on if the wobble was caused by a desire for more or less change in direction. - Would toe do this?

But seriously - your #1 no change necessary and what is up with the illegal cars? Makes we want to finish up my Syclone tune and SMASH my way to the fastest dirty time!

Excellent Bug,
Crash

lol crash im glad i paid attention to airplane physiscs in highschool or else i wouldnt have understood half of your post  hmmmm i might be able to get it more manageable i will try some of your suggestions but remember i have the v8 stuffed in it its short wheel base and its on sport tires so its a pain to get it just right i may just have to put a different enginge in it .

to your last comment im not really worried about being 1st… i want it when someone dowloads and drives my tunes they can set new pb and not struggle too much with the car this is why i ask for feedback . again thank you for the nasa type feedback it has given me some good ideas

Doh! that is right the CG is sitting practically on the rear wheels. The front tires have a big O’l breaker bar to turn the car and the rear wheels have a short little open end wrench to keep it going strait. It may simply be too small of a directional stability margin - the wobble is caused by the wonder yet the wobble may not affect the wonder. I don’t really care if it wobbles, it’s the wonder that puts me into the wall or other cars. The wobble still probably affects the wonder due to weight transfer same as any turn. Reducing instead of increasing roll stiffness/damping could help or do nothing at all. We need a tail or to move the mass forward. We could put the rear wheels behind the engine. Wheely bars??? Actually, if we bang on the breaker bar with a smaller hammer and the wrench with a 10 lb sledge the wrench may win. Bigger rear and/or smaller front tires? But this would trash the beautifully balanced Uni-cycle you’ve created. Then again I’m not very good at riding a Uni-cycle. I like bicycles where I only have to worry about falling over (understeer) and only fall on my face (oversteer) when I really mess something up. The problem is that these Uni-cyclist can stop turn 90 degrees and go again, my bicycle can’t do that so I keep loosing. I need to learn how to ride a Uni-cycle.

Now that I think about it I may have seen the same random braking problem before on a few laps with my Ford GT MK II before lowered the brake pressure. I haven’t driven too many cars with a rear weight bias. Interesting… I need to go do some experimentation.

As for the pb - mission accomplished. I have invested eighty percent of my Forza 5 time lapping and tuning my C1 vette and '77 Trans Am at Prague. It took hours and 100’s of laps to set those times. If I ran 100 more I might not even be able to get within a tenth! Then YOU come along with your little bug (sneering) and I break BOTH pb’s in 4 laps! SOoooo… was the de-validation of the laps REALLY accidental…?

YES… yes it was, consciously at least. I probably de-validated the last segment of the previous lap. Glad to know my fly by was at least in the atmosphere and not orbiting in outer space. Keep em’ coming, it will save me HOURS of fiddling. I’ll stop by to fill up my tank every once in a while and make sure I pay before driving away.

Got any good cleaners, I need to go try and wash this GEEK of my forehead,
Crash

hmm for facial cleaners i recommend “geek be gone” but im glad you enjoyed my little bug enough to even hot lap it outside of the rivals event im hoping to do a set of rivals cars each month

hello again everyone jsut finished my drag tune for the VIP rivals drag racing event its an audi s4 2013 tuned with out assists , full gas launch shift right before rev limiter best time so far is 15.167
its up in the share front now under he name VIP Rivals Drag please enjoy and as always feedback is welcome
