Question For Turn 10 About Public Lobbies

There are public lobbies. They’re called the hoppers. Lol.

hurry, get in the hopper. Do it.

While custom lobbies would be nice, hoppers suit me fine right now since I don’t play much multiplayer. However if I did custom lobbies that are user moderated would be real nice.

If public lobbies aren’t gonna be a part of this game, neither am I. Turn 10 aren’t getting a single penny from me until they give us back this basic feature. Then I might think about buying some dlc’s.

If hoppers are here to stay then bye bye FM5!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Online is completely dead to me. Drag racing was fun until I found out how broken it was. Constant DNF’s and crash spawns etc.

I just want to race in a public lobby with some maxed street cars on the track that I want to race on. Then, if there’s some crashers/cheaters, I can just boot them out and carry on having fun. Why is it so hard? Why do we have to vote everything all the time it totally sucks.

Not like there was much traffic in the FM4 custom public lobbies. This might be a key reason why they weren’t added to FM5…

Additionally, as long as the hoppers are here, custom public lobbies will be sparingly used. The only way to bring back the FM2 glory is to cut the hoppers. This won’t happen either with the hoppers being used to match people of similar abilities and the ease of use of an instant match making system.

The hoppers (which are also public lobbies) are here to stay though I personally think they are stupid for a game such as this. Unfortunately matchmaking seems to be the priority among game developers and they likely have data to justify the benefits of these systems.

Not much traffic on FM4 custom public lobbies? I had no issue keeping a full room of clean racers in 4. Hopper have a place in this game, its for the tools who want to play arcade games which kept the custom lobbies for the most part clean - I rarely booted people.

I will never play in a hopper, I’ll stick to private with 6-8 clean racers. Just sucks it’s not that easy to meet like minded racers who can search rather have to post in forums to look for players.

Yet everytime I searched for the classes I like, which was 3-4 times a week, I’d be lucky to find 2 lobbies set up and rarely were any of them good lobbies unless I personally knew the creator.

I’d search around the hoppers and usually I’d find several 8 people + lobbies. Honestly, I don’t think half the players knew the benefits of the custom variety and it probably didn’t help the option was at the bottom.

Yeah, being listed at the bottom underscored it a little.

I’d browse those, see a lot of them with too many laps, not a lot of participants, the times I’d wait were when I’d find a room I really wanted to race in. But then too often they would up and change the parameters, so I’d wait for nothing.

I’m really not too sure why it did not work as well as FM2, because it should have, some of that was our own fault for not using it as strongly as we complained for it.
Some of it, as you allude was implementation, and some of it was that the hopper choice took over. There were too many choices, and if I wanted a fast circuit race, I could get it in.

TBH I have to admit FM2s hoppers had serious issues on certain days when no one was running a good lobby, it was not perfect, but when it was good… it was… times I’ll never forget. Special times.

Forza 4’s custom lobbies were the only place where you could find decent people to drift/tandom with. We need them back!!!

Lobby chat with headset is broken. My headset mic works fine in party chat but not in lobby chat. I have to crap around deleting persistent storage and clearing MAC address to get it to work EVERY time I turn my console on.it happens to me in south oz,to friends in Victoria and friends in England. When is this going to get fixed. Microsoft support say its a forza problem? Anyone else getting mad at this like me?

public custom lobbies would be by far my most desired addition to forza5. every time there is an update to the game I hold my breath and go check… so far, no joy.

Its the only way to meet new like minded, clean, no assist racers… look for a room title like ‘full sim no assists’
or ‘stock full sim’ etc. At the moment that would be the only proper way to get to try cars in ‘straight from the factory’ online. its a lot of fun and adds a lot of variety to the gaming.

private lobbies are all well and good but you first need to find friends who race like you

That was the golden age imo.

I remember and will never ever forget starting a lobby alone, start running a few laps, one or 2 guys come in and ask me to change up, we all agree, others come in…
Maybe I leave for dinner, someone else takes over, I come back, lobby is full, we’re all buddies taking turns selecting tracks… If I’m not mistaken we were also tuning in those lobbies.

That was what it was all about. Fun and making new friends, and feeling like you were in control of your game.

Someone really either misses the point of that, or we have gone far backwards in technology if we can’t support that.

Totally agree. So far I have met one single friend on the xbox one. On gran Turismo I had hundreds of friends and you could only fit 99 friends on your friends list.

I’d take my 360 or ps3 back any day over this xbox one and forza 5. I think there’s a lot of people that feel the same too.

It saddens me it really does. I thought next gen meant next generation not prehistoric garbage.

Why don’t you?

I know tone is difficult to perceive on message boards and this isn’t meant to be a snarky response. If you’re unhappy with FM5 and the Xbox One you can always go back to your 360 or PS3. I own all three and I can honestly say I still play my 360 more than anything else.

I’m saving for a killer PC and buying the mighty project cars then it’s goodbye forza and xbox. To be fair, both fail badly.

I won’t buy any Microsoft published games ever again

Anybody else getting tired of hearing Dan talk about how important the community is to Forza when every action taken so far has taken community involvement out of the franchise?

Store fronts and auction houses are clear examples of cutting out community involvement. Taking away custom public lobbies (again) is a removal of community involvement. Taking away car clubs - again another removal of community involvement. Removing the gifting feature between players is a HUGE removal of community involvement.

I’m sorry but the new paint/tune sharing system sucks. Having to race in hoppers when none of your friends are on, sucks.

Forza 5 is a fantastic game that I love and enjoy playing, but I can’t just sit back and ignore the deficiencies that the game has. And then I read an article from Dan saying that he thinks what they are doing is for the best of the community.

Ah well, hopefully Dan and Turn 10 wake up and see what the community actually wants out of the Forza franchise.

Nice to see like minded people. Too bad we’re seemingly being ignored by everyone at Turn 10. Could someone in the know please just give us an answer? Are custom lobbies in the works for F5? Yes/No? It can’t be that difficult of a question to answer. Or, if it is hard to answer, you could tell us why.

I’ve been saying this since day 1, and I know a lot of people have as well. Bought the One for this game, and persuaded a lot of friends to do it as well. Kinda shocked to see this thread not locked.

These are the kind of things/talk that lead to a lock.

Customs need to be brought ASAP. Many things need to be fixed.

I can’t imagine they aren’t working on a major patch for the game, they have to be, or else people are going to move on. I’m sure they know that. Having said that, I’m shocked that they haven’t released one yet. I’m crossing my fingers, hopefully we hear some good news in this weeks WIR.

Reading the interview from Dan, I don’t think we’re going to see the return of public custom lobbies, at least not in FM5. The one real purpose they served was when T10 would do a game with devs event and the community team could setup their lobbies and people could search for them. I think that would help to organize the events better on 5 if we got custom lobbies, but I don’t think we’re gonna.

They’ve done it in the past. Apparently they ditched custom public lobbies in forza 3.

History suggests they might be back for forza 6.

I couldn’t care less anymore. My patience has run out.
