Question about the E-ray

Not sure if you’re directing this comment specifically at me but I don’t believe I said anything of the sort. But honestly, eveyone’s entitled to their own feelings on the matter. I’m not going to get mad if someone feels entitled about having it all for free. I’ll just move on and let the chips fall where they may. If their protests and demands garner positive results in the end, I will also not complain. It just means I get something for free and I didn’t have to stress out over it one bit. Much like stressing over other people’s opinions. It’s just a waste of energy that gets in the way of enjoying my gaming experience.

The E-Ray is a hybrid vehicle with a V8. It also uses the Z06 body which is wider than the standard Corvette, and is the first AWD Corvette.

Or maybe we feel that every bit of content in a given game should be accessible in some way in that game, not by spending money on a completely-different game (or even worse, a promotional product unrelated to that game)? I’m fine with spending a bit of extra money on DLC car packs for this game, because they’re additional content for it alone. But locking a unique and (arguably) high-profile car behind making a full retail purchase of another title I have zero interest in just feels like a jerk move.

Thanks for clarifying. So other than the EV/hybrid variant & slightly wider body, it’s essentially the same since the current Stingray has an optional AWD conversion & a variety of engine swaps. Do you happen to know if the cockpit views will include the hybrid specific gages?

Interesting read by Car & Driver HERE

I mean they’re already “dropping it” into FH5; they’re just choosing to limit it to people who either pay for another full retail game or their silly GamePass service (which doesn’t function on PC without either an XBox controller or some sort of hacky workaround). If they wanted to keep it fully exclusive to FM I wouldn’t mind at all, but right now it seems like it’s going to be a “for thee but not for me” situation in FH5.

My dude, take it down a bit here. I’m not throwing a fit over this or anything, I just think it’s dumb, simple as that.

I’ll grant you the controller issue, as the only time I tried GamePass was using a trial to stream a bit of FH5 while on vacation. I was immediately frustrated by the fact that despite playing from PC, keyboard controls weren’t an option (because people are totally going to schlep both a laptop and a controller with them when on the road). I only rarely use controllers on PC, and it’s always through Steam, which has excellent support for my Switch Pro or PS4 controllers should I feel like breaking them out. My free trial is almost up anyway, and I have zero plans to renew it, so the point is moot.

And yes, I think services like GamePass are worthless, because I refuse to pay money to essentially rent games. If I plop down money on a game, I want to own it outright and not have it tied to a subscription service. I already buy more games during Steam sales than I have time to play, so I don’t need to spend any additional money on Microsoft’s whims.

No, I’m not using Steam to play this game, and as I said the issue was trying to play it via streaming on a GamePass trial. I actually own FH5 through the MS Store, and I play it via keyboard because I don’t have an XBox controller and have never bothered trying to figure out any alternate solutions. I only brought up Steam because it conveniently allows me to plug in a Switch or PS controller via USB and use the built-in controller profiles. Most desktop builds probably don’t have Bluetooth connectivity, so that feature would be useless. (As it turns out my wireless card does, but I’ve never bothered turning it on because I have no need for it.)

To each their own, but I only buy games that I’m sure I’ll like in the first place, and those are the only ones I bother playing. It’s very easy to get a good sense of a game’s quality beforehand when there are so many review options available. I don’t have any interest in GamePass just like I don’t have any interest for paying for a streaming service; I’d rather save my money for physical Blu-rays.

Look, again, I’m not making a big case out of this. I just think it’s dumb. I thought the Oreo and Dorito promos were equally dumb (thankfully kind forumites provided extra codes), and things like that makeup promo were spectacularly dumb. If they wind up adding the car to the game later, I’ll get it then. If they never do, then I’ll just go without. Either way I’ll still think it’s dumb.

I’m just curious if I still get the E-Ray if I own FH5 on Steam but play FM8 through PC Game Pass.

This should be confirmation that Steam players will be included in the give away.

Funny there that it’s only doing a two wheel burnie and earlier in this thread max says it’s an awd vette. Doesn’t look very awd in that shot.

Well, I guess if you switch off the electric part and just go on gas then all you can do is burnies because of all the extra weight of batteries and motor it probably won’t have much acceleration on gas only.

Sounds like big selling feature for some

Seems like a big selling feature would have been all four tires smokin’.

The front wheels aren’t coupled with the drivetrain. They’ve an own electric motor instead that isn’t always active and is balancing the power as needed from what I got. Chevy calls it e-AWD.

@PlageBLN , exactly, which is why I said, all that extra weight. All you can do is burnies and no acceleration without the extra electric umph. It’s 650hp total so what is it with just fuel? 450hp? 400? 350? Only her hairdresser knows for sure.

Now here’s how a real 4wd burnie should look!

Who wants an e-ray when you can get one of these;

0 to 60 in 1.66 seconds

The final Dodge “Last Call” model is also the most powerful, with the Challenger SRT Demon 170 pushing out an absurd 1025 horsepower on E85 fuel. This gives the Demon 170 a claimed quarter-mile time of just 8.9 seconds , and the V-8-powered muscle car can even be ordered with a parachute.

And you CAN NOT order any optional electric motors with this car. Well, except for the seats and windows.

Have you ever seen a review of one of those Dodges? They are a handful to drive, let alone launch with any confidence. It absolutely needs slicks and a prepped track to launch and get a decent time. Otherwise you’re watching your competition walk as you go up in smoke.

That’s true of any car with that much power. If you don’t know how to handle it. If you don’t know how to handle a Rattlesnake best to not pick one up.

Agreed. I tend to stick to the school of lighter = faster, rather than thousands of HP is a car weighing something north of the Titanic’s dry weight.
The Charger/Challenger’s downfall was always it’s weight. 4340 lbs. (roughly) for a Redeye is a ton of weight to sling around, same with the GT500’s weight (about 150 lbs. less).

The added weight was a big detractor for the big three, Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang. All three would have been great to lose about a thousand pounds.
