Question about shifting with clutch on 'A' button

I’ve seen the suggestion to switch the clutch to the A button. I tried using clutch for the first time this morning with it set up this way. My question… Do you set it up this way so that you can press the upshift and clutch at the same time with ur thumb? And secondly, do u come off the gas when you shift?

What I have found is that engine braking is much better than when I drove manual without clutch. Removes much of the brake tapping or feathering to get corner speeds right. Those seeming little adjustments upset the balance of the car mid corner so I’m loving that. very high hopes for smashing old lap times and beating every CBH from now on!

i agree mostly here except for the shift. Sometimes you have to left off the gas when you shift to control wheelspin on the exit of corners but other than that keep it mashed while shifting

i agree mostly here except for the shift. Sometimes you have to left off the gas when you shift to control wheelspin on the exit of corners but other than that keep it mashed while shifting

Often it is better to short shift (basically shift mid turn), mash the gas on exit, the low revs can keep the wheelspin in check.
