Public Lobby Track rotations(any class)....opinions?

After playing FM6 multiplayer S-class lobbies for the past couple of weeks, I’d like to offer up some constructive criticism in hopes of making the track rotations better.

Coming from FM4, I prefer full versions of the tracks to the smaller partial versions with more laps. I don’t think the rotations would be that bad if ALL the tracks were in the mix, but seems like we are playing a select few tracks all the time. I know some of it comes from the voting, but full Road Atlanta, Catalunya, Laguna Seca, and Road America are not showing very often…and I have put in some serious time in the S-class lobbies too. I was also looking forward to running the Old Le Mans circuit in S class, but it is not even in the mix. Why not? If we are going to vote on tracks, let’s get them all in the mix with an even distribution of appearances.

Seems like some variant of Yas Marina is being run more than all the other tracks combined. I’ve run it enough to, quite frankly, be sick of it.

If one variant of a track was just run, any variant of it needs to be locked out of the next voting cycle. Even in the random votes.

Nurburgring needs to be cut back to 1 lap. With 2 laps, 15+ minutes is way too long for many players to deal with that track. I constantly see lobbies drop to half by the end of that race. I also think that Nurburgring in the rain needs to be eliminated from rotation altogether if it’s to stay 2 laps. That track is tough enough in the dry, but in the rain and with 2 laps of it, IMHO, it’s just miserable…

I have to agree on the rotation part. I have also been in S Class lobbies constantly since the 18th Sept and while 7 times out of 10 I am happy with the track, it is frustrating to see Road America West/East or Monza Short coming up in an S Class lobby with 24 people. How are 24 people honestly supposed to race around there.

In terms of the Nurburgring I have to disagree (each to our own though). I do enjoy it at two laps. The challenge is fun plus it also gives a chance to really make a push if you’re on a good pace (oh and lets not forget the XP and CR payouts from the race haha).

Le Mans Old Mulsanne or La Sarthe need to be in the rotation, the incredible nature of that straight at night is surely a reason to get it in there! If two laps of the Nurb in all conditions makes it then two laps of Le Mans (not the Bugatti Circuit) would be a great addition. Hopefully they add it in sooner rather than later.

This was one of the reasons we started setting up our own room on saturdays. We actualy had spa night or a wet version of silver or sebring 5 times in a row, got 4 wet tracks then we voted random, got spa night. Anyone is free to join us on saturdays full tracks, s class.

I agree, we need better track rotation as I’ve stated elsewhere. I’ve been spending most my time in B Class and I mostly see Rio, Watkins Glen, Bernese Alps up for vote. I’ve yet to see any variation of Monza and I’ve seen Road America once. I’m quite frustrated by this. I don’t see the point in having 26 tracks if their not going to be in full rotation online, it’s just a real shame.

I also wanted to add that every time Sebring shows up it’s always rain or night. Sure would be nice to race this track during the day sometimes and for more than two laps. I’m hopeful that at some point this will be addressed and we’ll see a better variety of tracks in rotation online.

Has anyone ever seen any variation of the top gear track show up online? I never seen it, not once. Im sure there is an achievement for racing on each environment online too.

Nope, I haven’t seen any variation of Top Gear track show up in any of my sessions.

A couple of the small variations of top gear test track come up in C class lobbies, often.

The track choices are sad. The same exact track should never come up back to back, but I’ve had that happen numerous times.

So many things could be improved. I can list a dozen things that could be done to make this better, but I’m not going to bother typing it out, since I don’t expect anything to change. I don’t think anyone with the power to make changes reads these things anyway. I’m more likely to be told to type it all in that garbage bin they call the features wish list, where wishes go to die.

The C class introductory has a very small rotation.

Glad I’m not the only one to notice the issues with the rotations. T10 needs to address this quickly.

The voting system has good potential if the distribution is more even with all the tracks in play.

Yeah, it feels like every time we can vote for a track there is at least one layout of Yas Marina, which gets boring really quickly. Alps also is in the rotation a lot. However I hardly race on Laguna Seca, Monza or COTA.

Pretty much have to agree with everyone here, except for the ring needing to be only one lap. In my experience the first lap is such a nightmare that you need the second lap to get any good racing in… I love the ring ha. Also what hoppers are you getting the ring on 2 laps? Must be S class or higher? Everything I’ve seen is one lap whether it’s the ring or ring+GP.

I also have to agree that the full versions would be more preferable for online play, I’d just rather do the longer tracks. It lets everyone spread out more and more corners to master means the better drivers will shine.

A suggestion I have for track selection as well, how about multiple votes? First vote could be location like Sebring, Brands Hatch, Daytona. Second vote could be track layout, like Sebring full at night, rain, or day. Same goes for Brands and Daytona, once the location is specified you then pick a certain configuration from that location. Yay? Nay?

I have no real knowledge that this is the case here, but I’m pretty sure they pulled Old Le Mans out of the rotation because of the delayed starts for half the lobby(when everyone started half of the lobbys 3-2-1 go timers were just starting) because it was in the rotation for the first week I played. I hope that means they are working on it and may see the track back in the rotation tomorrow after the patch.

It seems too change for everyone, for example, I rarely see Watkins Glen and have never raced on GP circuit of Monza.

In B class I see Watkins Glen come up all the time, usually one of the shorter versions. What classes have you been racing in?

I completley agree with the original post here.

I personally prefer to race on the real life circuits although Rio can be fun.

But i too have noticed the lack of full racing tracks.
We only seem to have the same short variety thrown up again and again, night after night.

Lets hope T10 have altered the rotation to include full cuircuit racing on lobbys in todays patch.

Fingers crossed.

I completely agree with the original poster on this one. I have primarily been racing S and R class lobbies. These are my suggestions (many of which have already been recommended).

-Reduce the frequency of short version tracks
-Increase the frequency of full version tracks, and increase the variety (COTA, monza, Laguna seca, catalunya, brands hatch, watkins glen, etc.)
-Reduce Nurburgring to 1 lap, it’s a great track but lobbies fall apart with 2 lap races
-Reduce frequency of ovals
-Whatever track is just played, no variant of it should be up for vote in the next race
-Reduce frequency of Yas Marina variants

I’m loving the game so far Turn10! A little more track variety in the hoppers (especially considering you added so many great ones) will go a long way to keep the lobbies full and the races flowing all night!

In the Leagues we get some weird and wonderful ones. The V8 one has the Daytona Oval! On top of seeing Rio very frequently. Obviously I can’t campaign to get more of what I want but most of us probably agree that there are some tracks that shouldn’t be part of certain hoppers. I’d like to see some of the less appropriate ones omitted at least.

I’m personally fine with Daytona and Indy in the ovals configs, but I’m also a NASCAR fan. I used to race, with a wheel on PC, Papyrus NASCAR games all the time. They are pretty much the end all and be all of NASCAR simulation on PC. I guess that’s why I don’t mind them in Forza. Daytona tri-oval you just need to setup for flat out top speed. Indy, you need some grip and top speed.

However, I do hope that T10 addresses this track rotation issue as it will kill Multiplayer interest if the lobby rotation stays the way it is…

Leagues have got to get better too…

Looks like they have updated something as I just turned it on and there is over a 600MB update to download.

I’ve been doing S class mostly too and I’m already getting bored of the same tracks cycling through, I really hope they add more to the mix at some point.

I’m sure FM4 used to cycle through all the tracks but I could be mistaken on that.

Edit - touching on the ring I’m happy with 2 laps also, maybe the variation of 2 on dry and 1 on wet tracks etc could be better or just mix it up with them all but I like 2 laps myself and you get 60k+ credits for coming near the front iirc.
