Microsoft games like this one, halo and gears all removed stats. Its highly likely these wont ever be added back.
Still in flight sim to some extent. Agree though, probably to save on expensive Azure storage.
100% cost cutting. I can understand their thinking, game pass subscribers have definitely helped inflate numbers. If most dont continue to play this sort of data would indeed take up a lot of space for no reason but there has to be a better solution then just cutting it totally.
Unfortunately i dont see this being under turn 10s control, but i guess we’ll find out when horizon 6 releases because if that game gets stats it would really be a low blow for turn 10 to not have included them.
It’s not ideal, but at least with Halo Infinite there’s a site where you can check your stats. Waypoint had added stats for it, but it’s not working for me at the moment.
I’m not sure why games in general seem to be dropping stats though, might be because of costs like you said, or maybe not a lot of people look at them and that’s why they’ve been dropped.
Something THAT easy to do should not remain undone after two years for something as simple as statistics. Data isn’t a problem for what is supposed to be the xbox ecosystem race sim, this is what is supposed to help Xbox Series X/S sales, yet they don’t take seriously basic stuff such as STATS like really in 2025 this should not even be a thing.
I dont think it should have been removed to begin with but its not our decision its obviously Microsofts. These stats take up space, they dont want to store it. Whether or not this was necessary i have no idea, but since they removed these stats from a few of their games there is certainly a reason.
The choice to remove statistics certainly has nothing to do with the cost of storage space. Text-based data like number of races won, total laps driven or even a full history of your races take up next to no space. For a company the size of Microsoft, it would be a drop in the ocean on their Azure servers.
Microsoft probably collects all kinds of data and statistics on their back-end to understand and influence consumer behavior – it’s just not displayed to us as players.
Some people have theorized that the removal of stats in many modern games is to avoid discouraging less competent players, but who really knows. As for Forza Motorsport 2023, I think it’s just as likely that T10 just didn’t care enough about the franchise to produce a polished and finished product.
I definitely believe the ‘missing stats’ in modern games has everything to do with the DEI culture that corporations like Microsoft, who are particularly aggressive with it, have adopted as a business strategy.
Make everyone feel included and remove as many gaming elements as possible that don’t promote equity.
When Halo Infinite first launched, the results screen after an online, pvp match randomized the order in which each teams players were listed, if a player had the most kills and least deaths, they might find their name on the bottom while the player that contributed the least, might be listed first.
This was intentional and I’m sure pushed onto 343 by Microsoft executives.
They’ve changed it since, in an attempt to bring players back, to the best being listed first.
Forza 23 is the best simulation racer in the series but arguably the worst ‘game’ in the series.
…and I don’t think that had much to do with Turn 10.
It’s all Microsoft and powerful executives that don’t play games telling developers how to make games.
If you multiply that little bit of space by millions of people it adds up. Microsoft titles are now all gamepass titles. This means the bulk of players do not pay full price for the game, they also dont stick around as long as paying customers.
Why would they save data indefinitely for all of these players that may or may not ever play the game again. Imo its cost cutting, this also includes a higher percentage of contract workers and unfinished gaas titles that try to dupe people into investing their time into failed projects.
Just because microsoft is a wealthy company doesnt mean a title like forza motorsport will receive a neverending budget. This game had no stats, gears of war lost stats and halo also lost stats in game though they exist elsewhere. This all coincided with their gamepass release.
