I wanted to know peoples opinion here… fellow player says it BS that teams share tunes with only their team members, and says that once shared with one person it should be available for everyone, he mostly complained about the fact that I have a GT40 tune in R class that is tuned to perfection imo and he doesn’t have access to it so that’s the reason he “isn’t further up the leaderboards” also commented on my M8B tune that has a couple number 1 times in R class, i said I don’t want to share because it’s a team tune, I think that tuners should have the choice to share/not share or share within a team. Just seems butt hurt to me tbh, how do people here feel about keeping tunes private
Speed tunes, grip tunes, acceleration tunes and all other types of tunes are readily available to everyone from some really fast drivers. There are no shortages of good tunes out there. That being said, you should be able to keep your tunes private, if you don’t want to share with everyone.
They’re your (or your team’s) setups; do with them what you will. Personally I don’t see the need to keep them exclusive, but I don’t have an issue with it if that’s how people want to handle things. Too many people (across all skill levels) assume the car/build/setup is responsible for fast leaderboard times, when almost invariably it’s the driver that makes all the difference.
I didn’t even know that was an option. Though I guess there’s a couple ways you could do it.
In a competitive scene, pro, esports, whatever, I can imagine it would make sense. You don’t want opponents getting a glimpse at your playbook. Maybe when the competition is over, they can share a little bit, or even just a broad overview. But if they’re in the middle of a tournament or championship or something, then they can have some leeway in that.
But for the rest of us, sharing knowledge should be encouraged. They’re your tunes, you can do what you want with them. But withholding them out of some sense of trade secret is pretentious.
I share very few of my tunes because I barely know what I’m doing anyway, and any decent player could probably come up with a better tune on their own. But if you’re actually good at tuning, and you’re not sharing your knowledge, and you’re withholding information that could help beginner and novice players get better, not to protect a competitive edge, but out of some misguided sense of proprietary ownership, that’s kinof a little bit petty.
None of the bigger top teams ever share their tunes. I doubt you would ever find an F4H tune on the share front, and if you did you can be sure it isn’t their competition tune. Among the top teams and drivers, setups can be all the difference. No one is ever obligated to share their set ups. Also, simply sharing a set up isn’t really helping beginners get better. You might get better times using a good tune, but it still doesn’t teach you how to tune, which should be your real goal.
Very simple. Your tune, your choice.
Knowing how to tune doesn’t necessarily make one faster. It’s what they do or don’t do on the track that makes the difference. Beginners should be focusing on learning the tracks and hitting the apex correctly at first. I’ve raced with some frighteningly fast drivers who use only other’s tunes. In my opinion, tuning is same as making the pizza at home while downloading a tune is like getting it cooked and ready to serve from Pizza Hut or Dominos, if you know what time saying. That being said , it it still good to know how to tune.
I don’t think Ferrari and AMG Mercedes sit around the pits swapping tune information at P1
Yea I mostly run my own tunes but when I only race 1 or 2 nights a week the last think I want to do is tune I want to race. If I see a racer running a certain car I don’t have and I want to run it I will load someone’s tune and race I’ve had several times when players complaining to me pretty fast with other peoples tunes but 90 % of the night I’m running my own tunes but if they won the race its not a problem LOL.
Ah yes, the classic “If I had setups, I would be at the top of the leaderboard.” line. Almost always, the real answer is “No, you wouldn’t”.
That sounds like an entitled clown to me. No one owes anything to anybody on here. Hence why it is called sharing. Especially considering the competitive e-sports arena where people are competing for cash prizes. Baby needs a new pair of shoes and I wouldn’t give a care in the world about some random wanting to see his gamertag at the top of the boards.
There was a time when race teams shared their tunes and builds on these forums but as always a few rotten eggs ruined it for everyone. Share a tune and build with a person then they’d change a couple things and peddle it off as their own with no credit give to the originator. Snowballed to the point where teams said f it and they closed their doors.
Some folks need to learn to accept that their talent level has a limit and very often it isn’t the top.
