Who mapped an extra foot of invisible wall on the final chicane on Prague? I can’t count how many times I think I’m clear of that corner, then BOOM! Instant stop and catastrophic damage. I have replays.
Can’t ever recall hitting anything invisible. There is a frustrating “kink” on the outside wall on exiting the chicane when running the track clockwise (normal) but it’s visible. It can catch you if you run wide on the exit. The key to avoiding it is a better line through the entry to the chicane that allows you to run tighter on the exit and try line the car up as much as possible before you get airborne over the inside curbs.
Yep, I know exactly where you mean. If you even hit that part of the wall with 1 inch of the front of your car the result is a total crash, it feels very unrealistic and I think that is why the OP thinks there is an invisible wall. But all tracks and walls have that, only at the Prague chicane it’s very obvious (there is one similar crash point at the beginning of the Prague tunnel as well to the right side).
In general, when you hit a wall with a car while almost parallel to it, the wall seems to grab and hold that side of your car so you end up spinning around and facing the wrong direction. It’s very unrealistic, in reality you should slide more against the walls. Of course you could say you should never hit a wall in the first place but accidents to happen.
It’s an anti-wallriding measure, pretty sure.
I don’t really consider that a chicane, just a very interesting and satisfying turn when you get it right.
I’ve done a lot of hotlaping on this track in fm5 and FM6. There is an invisible wall that does extended pass. Its my favorite part of the tracks.
Ps what about mystery bump near the bridge. I’ve Swore at that dam bump many times.
I know I’m too close in this photo, but here’s the spot: Screenshot (2) | canaceu | Flickr
I know what you mean. It’s a track that I’ve really wanted to like since Forza 5 but no matter how much I practice I’m still awful round there. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been on a good lap only for it all to go wrong at the chicane and I always say I hate this track
I like Prague, but I have hit invisible walls in those places too. I also hit one one near the middle of the bridge. If it’s an anti wall riding measure, it’s effective. I am careful to stay clear of the walls there now.
My rule for all chicanes:
Slow in, fast out.
Chicanes are the master at seduction. They entice you to fly in at top speed, but you always pay for iit on the exit. Whether it’s the chicane at Daytona, Watkins Glen, Prague they’re all the same.
Prague fast times is just fast through chicane, it’s not slow in fast out when going for top times, it’s maybe a lift to rotate car (pending class) but mostly just being set up correct, extremely precise on turn in and keep throttle 100% all the time. From setup to exit. Confidence, and nerves of steel and precise car control.
Very much like that F1 car going full speed through concrete barriers at silverstone set up to be just wider then the car.
Otherwise I agree with you, safe is a bit slower at set up turn in full throttle to last turn.
The wall issue is a bit of a pain. I know why it’s sticky but now that I’m getting better and getting closer and closer to them i really wish they didn’t stop your car. But yes extremely effective to deliberate wall riders. So I accept the compromise to a degree.
Just sucks that realism is spoiled by unsportsmanlike players.
I’ve been victim to that chicane, tunnel entrance more times then I’d like to admit
Yeah if want a good time, you can’t lift.
