Practicing tracks better in a fast or slow car

Will practicing a track and improving lap times in a really fast car like the F1 help me at all while driving slower cars at the same track?

When it comes to practicing tracks and driving in a racing game, its always better to start in slower cars and gradually work your way up to the faster ones. This gives you the chances to learn and take in information, without having to compensate for high speed too early. This also has the added benifit of teaching you how to drive better in general as well, as you will find it easier to learn how to balance the available grip, the weight transfer, the braking and the throttle control. Which all help when moving into the faster cars, such as the F1.

You drive whichever class you’re preparing for because they are all different.

Lower classes = maintaining more speed through corners with no leeway for mistakes

Higher classes = more variation and lines that you can take so long as you do them properly and more battles will happen because cars are much closer in terms of performance. It all comes down to what class you are trying to do.

If you are trying to get better then you have to pick one or the other, they are not compatible with one or the other.

Edit: However, there is an obvious limit, don’t hop into R class cars or higher if you don’t know what you are doing. If you’re talking about basic driving skills then start in class C, otherwise if you know basic driving skills, then you need to pick fast or slow. Being fast in Class C or D will not make you fast in class P.

Always start in slower cars. This gives you time to learn the fundamentals of driving such as catching oversteer, learning the racing line, racing etiquette etc.

It also gives you more time to get using less assists and if you’re on a wheel or a controller it’s much easier to learn techniques such as heel and toe, trail braking etc.

Slowly build yourself up to faster cars. It’ll be less frustrating that way.
