Q: Will Porsche be included in FH3 at launch? If not, will it be added as a DLC?

Unless Porsche appears convincingly in gameplay videos, there’s no way to know if Porsche (or any other manufacturer or model) will be in the game at launch or as a DLC until Turn 10 makes a related announcement. Forza’s Porsche DLC announcement for FM6 this year did not provide details on the agreement, and common sense should suggest that an agreement on one game does not automatically mean an agreement for a separate game, or when one might be effective.

Please do not spread rumors or speculate on contractual agreements without first-hand knowledge, which only muddles the question for users looking for reliable information. An automotive article mentioning some hint of expiration date from an agreement years ago does not qualify as current evidence. Likewise, there is no basis for casting blame in any direction on this issue. If you have a source of new information, link it so other users can evaluate it.
I would really like to have Porsche from the beginnig and not as an another pricey expansion. Anyone knows anything about the licence issue? Any rumours?
I’m assuming the situation with Porsche and Turn10 and/or whoever develops this game is sort of like the issue with transferring the FXX and F50 GT from the original Horizon to Horizon 2. Though I cannot be completely sure that a licensing issue was the cause of select cars from Horizon 1 not appearing in Horizon 2, it is likely. I’m not sure what the deal is with Porsche licensing their cars out to Turn10 because Ferrari and Lamborghini clearly have no problem with licensing off their vehicles as long as they get the royalty money, which is likely a very, very high dollar amount.
I recall Porsches being present in Forza 2, but never saw them again until Horizon 2 came out. I can somewhat remember Porsches in Forza 3 or 4, but that’s from memory so it’s iffy.
Maybe Turn10 doesn’t want to pay the asked price for licensing, I don’t know.
Definately ended since Porsche is coming to Assetto Corsa in 3 DLC packs fall 2016 and Ian from SMS hinted it will be in Project CARS 2 as well (rumored to be released in 2017).
The license issue was resolved earlier this year, hence porche in FH2 and Forza motor sport 6 it was absent after Forza motor sport 4, I am disappointed that it is not included along with RUF I’ve paid £80 already on this game and my best bet is it will be a pricey dlc as they’ve recently purchased the licensing which the dlc and future ones will cover the cost, Turn 10 may be turning into EA, I do hope I am wrong and that’s not the case, I’m pleased with the game, I must admit the barn finds where easy to find, I found all 15 in under 24 hours, and the showcases were ridiculously quick, I’m eager to find out what the expansion will be, we had FH bring rally which was fun and FH2 brought us storm island which was ok we got an additional barn find containing the MG hopefully there will be more show cases and barn finds and hopefully a free porche dlc.
In a live stream between members of the Forza team and AR12Gaming when he asked about Porsche the Forza team replied with the “stay tuned” comment, I myself would love to see Porsche in the game but if it does come in I think it will be an expansion once again.
My understanding is that EA has had some sort of long-term exclusive license with Porsche for several years, and whenever Porsches appear in a Forza game, it’s been the result of some deal worked out between Turn 10 and EA.
Whilst I would love to have Porsche in FH3 I hope that they are NOT a paid DLC. As much as I like Porsche, having bought them as DLC in FM4, FH2 and FM6 I’m getting reluctant to have to keep paying premium for them. If they are in the launch game I’m very happy, if not I’d rather pay for a different expansion than buying the same Porsche’s (give or take a couple) again.
So this is the first game released with the Forza title post EA license for Porsche. The above mentioned comment of “stay tuned” rings of “Porsche will be in the game, we just can’t announce that yet.” Expect to hear something at Gamescom. You do have to remember, in previous Forza titles that did not have Porsche, it was made very clear from the beginning that Porsche would not be making an appearance. Now that EA does not hold that license anymore, Porsche is fair game to whoever is willing to pay the price.
option 1) Porsche is in? Yay.
option 2) RUF is in? You can be sure no Porsches will be added.
option 3) Both Porsche and RUF are not in? You can expect a Porsche DLC/expansion in the future.
I strongly doubt both RUF AND Porsche will be in, it’s never been done before in any game and I doubt Porsche would allow it.
It would be a bit sad to have to pay for another Porsche expansion IMO, we already payed for it twice!
I never played FM4 so no clue how it went there. In FH2 it is very obvious that RUF was added first because Porsche was out of reach and they had RUF in FM5 already anyway. Porsche was added later because they got a deal with Porsche after the base game was finished.
It’s the same thing with the Hellcats in FM6 for example. The Challenger Hellcat was added to the base game. The Charger Hellcat not so they just added the 392 SRT instead. But then the Charger Hellcat was added via DLC as well. You can be damn sure that if the game would be released today that the 392 STR Charger wouldn’t be in anymore. Same with RUF in FH2, if they would have released the game summer 2015 then there would only be Porsches, not RUF anymore. Or why else do you think there is no RUF in FM6?
We also already paid for Horizon twice, and every car in previous lineups that appear in FH3. If there’s a cost to adding cars to FH3, there’s a reason for the cost. Past purchases are irrelevant.
