Porsche 911 Front End Lift/Wheelie

While using the 911 GT3 RS 4.0, GT2 RS (both new and old), and the 911 Turbo S, I’ve noticed that quite often while accelerating/turning the front end will lift off the ground and the car will become uncontrollable. Happens at VIR the worst on the last corner while accelerating out and turning, both front wheels lift off the ground.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah I just this second made a topic on it. It happens with the mid engined cars too.

I touched on the fact that the 911 GT2 and a bunch of the 911s have really poor control because the physics engine overemphasises that they are rear engined.

It’s like they decided ooh let’s make it obvious they are rear engined by having the weight transfer be huge when you accelerate. But it’s way over the top.

I’m surprised Porsche doesn’t actually have any say on how their vehicles handle or no one at Porsche played the game and said, “This isn’t good”.

Maybe they couldn’t get it to run long enough to test without crashing.

Any way to remedy this with tuning? I was able to reduce the lift effect on the 997 GT2 RS with tuning but it still feels off, so this might be an actual physics issue rather than a tune settings issue.

Make the springs much more stiff, that helps a lot.

When it comes to the 993 GT2 there is nothing you can do if you want to keep the car in its homologated guise, because you can’t put race suspensions, so the car is useless.
Putting race suspension helps but it’s still hard to completely get rid of this bad behaviour. I had to make it 4WD and work on the power distribution but still, not like it should be.
Happens with the Lancia Delta S4 Groupe B too and any car with the engine far back.

Would adding a splitter help? I noticed the issue too, but haven’t experimented with fixing it yet.

Some porches were doing this in forza 6 also. There’s clearly something not right.

A general fix I use for tuning that front lift out of mid or rear engine cars (especially Porsches). Is to set the caster low, I start at 4.0, Set the ARBS at 15 Front and 25 Rear. Set the Springs On the stiffer side, with the rear springs about 200-300 lbs stiffer than the front. On some of the more fickle cars you might have to also set the spring height to lowest in front and highest in the rear. Now these setting will produce a very oversteer heavy car. That tends to make the tail slide so you will have to curb it back to a more balanced set up if you cant handle it. You also may want to run the Decel at the highest % you feel you can manage to prevent off throttle slipping. I often put t at 100%

With the '12 GT2 you want to add the Aero front and back and max the downforce.

With the '16 GT2 you cant fit any aero, but you can add a heavier rim and put one tire width increase on the rear which will help.

Setting the ride height low at the front and high on the rear helps negate the effect. Having an extremely high rebound effect in the front helps a lot too and just tweak the suspension. If you can put the Forza aero in the car and then MAX out the front while having as little as possible on the rear.

Edit: stiffen up the suspension too but start with making the rear as stiff as possible. Do some laps and slowly decrease if then rinse and repeat with the front…
