Poor image quality with 1080p projector

Hi just wanted to bring up what I feel is an issue. I have a high end 1080p projector paired with my Series X. Forza Horizon 4 looks perfect on it because of 4k supersanpling. For some reason Forza Horizon 5 looks horrible in comparison. I see a lot of shimmering and jagged edges. It looks really bad on my 120 inch screen. Almost seems like the resolution is dummed down to 1080p which does not provide the benefits of supersampling. Again 4 looks way better than 5.

Also in my opinion the popin for performance mode is horrendous. I can’t use the quality mode because the motion blur is way too extreme on a screen that big. It makes me nauseous after a while. Trees literally appear right in front of me and out of nowhere sometimes. Looks like it’s in xbox one mode or something.

It’s not just you. They need to patch it

I would have thought anything on a 120" screen in 1080p would look pretty poor?

Supersampling helps with this significantly. It’s also used in VR gaming to make images appear sharper even when at a relatively low resolution for the proximity to your eyes.

Actually pure native 1080p projectors can output a really nice picture, especially if the game outputs at a higher resolution. It yields a smoother picture. Remember how good Pixar movies look on a 1080p TV? It’s because the source material was rendered at a super high resolution then compressed down to 1080p.

Also because the image is beamed onto a screen and not directly into your eye, you don’t notice the individual pixels like you would an led tv and it’s easier on the eyes. Remember it’s not too long ago that movie theaters had 1080p projectors. Nobody complained about the quality then.

That being said a 4k projector would be nice but a good one is around 1400 bucks at the moment. That will unlock more detail for sure.
