Should Collisions in online racing be left on or turned off?

Who’d want to play a game with no collisions it’d be rubbish!

There are pros and cons with both. If the player base is split then the only way I could see them supporting both is through custom lobbies. If they were to add a third option in custom racing then custom lobbies would just be more emptier then they are right now.

I’m fine either way. The current system is better than the last game but if they could turn up the sensitivity of the high speed ghosting 5 or 10%, that probably would help quite a bit. Of course i’m not against a no collisions lobby because I think I can assume correctly, it would be VERY popular.

Collisions off, cars always ghosted would be best option, as some use the wall collision penalty to their advantage by nudging others into wall to slow them down as it the only way they can pass.

Collisions in the game work fine for me. If I am rammed into a wall the game tests for that, and doesn’t give me a slow down penalty, it just ghosts me. I don’t see how you all get problems that I never see? In Tour you get the most ramming, and I can still win all three rounds of that. when you win two rounds you get rammed by everyone in the game, but I still didn’t get a penalty for it, and I still won. I do get a penalty if it’s a head on wall, so I slam my brakes on before the other car can even hit me.

From doing quite a few online races lately the high speed ghosting tends to cause a lot of collisions.
I’ve seen numerous players that have a slight overspeed over the player in front and instead of slowing down they push even further hoping to activate the ghosting. Often it won’t and the player in front gets shoved into a wall.
Then there is a sync issue with the ghosting. I can become ghosted and drive through the other player but he still gets hit.
PG definitely needs to look into it but with the low focus on racing that’s wishful thinking.

What if there wasn’t any ghosting but cars couldn’t budge each other? If you drove fast into the back of someone it would be like driving into a wall where the rammer gets penalized and the person who got hit doesn’t feel a thing. If you just bump someone then nothing happens to either car. The only issue here is the potential for trolls to form an impenetrable wall.

That’s still bad. I find the game close to perfect already in the racing department. I just won two Open Championships since I last posted 1hr ago.

Well done Aqua, here’s a gold star!

You insult people in your own thread due to their on topic replies that confirm that racing is OK how it is. Basically my reply was “Collisions left on” with an example why. Strictly adhering to the opening post, and your follow up posts.

Worth noting that there was a collisions off option in FH4. Another example of racing options being removed.

Personally, I do prefer collisions on. It feels more authentic and the ghosting is sufficient for me to rarely encounter any significant ramming issues.

Because the poll results are so close we need to reach a middle ground. So every 15 to 60 seconds collisions will randomly turn on or off.

Collisions on for me, the only potential problem it has is something that isn’t that isn’t the fault of the actual mechanic itself (people being stupid).

Collisions off would just equate to a simultaneous time trial.

There’s Rivals for time trialing if thats your thing.
Occasionally you get a group of like minded, decent racers in a race (commonest in open custom races i find) and in those times the game is a joy, don’t want to be losing that.

I voted off. But only for other players. We should still be able to hit everything else like in rivals races.

Best of both worlds would be lobby options for online races with and without collisions. Let each player choose.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Collisions off isn’t racing, it’s hot lapping.

I’d much prefer making an event for my convoy only than either option, but since the game decided to make that impossible because engagement metrics is more important than common sense or consumer satisfaction apparently, I’d prefer collisions off. It’s not ideal, but the internet has proven without question that it’s impossible for us to have nice things without someone ruining it.

Yep. Getting stuck with hardcore griefers for hour after hour will eventually convince most people.

Despite the fact i’ve hardly ever had a race (with real players) with out being hit to some extent, i’d still have collisions on but here’s a novel idea… (not pointing fingers at noobs) but how about collisions off until you reach a certain level.
