I currently play that mid engine cup that has been activated today. I am in the race on Road America. I am using the Bugatti EB110 and on the straight an A.I (difficulty 5) just rammed me from the behind on the straight after the first 2 turns, I was driving on the racing line the game shows in blue and that Jaguar rammed me from behind and I GOT A PENALTY for avoidable contact or whatever you call it in the english version. I was driving straight and that Jaguar rammed me from behind, it was not my fault at all.

I don’t like how the A.I behaves in the first lap, it’s very very annoying how they drive. I want a toggle to turn off that aggressive behaviour in the first lap.

Considering that the AI was one of the worst ones on the market and with Update 10 it seemed to be somewhat fun to drive with and with Update 11 it became faster but way more aggressive and the devs have stated that the AI will improve faster in future because more data and stuff, but they don’t specify whether the AI will be ‘better → faster’ or ‘better → racecraft’, I have no hope that the AI will become good anytime soon.

The AI is definitely aggressive, but in the first corner it’s not just aggressive but also a major lack of skill. The AI just literally doesn’t know what it’s doing.

The problem is the A.I can’t take over at all. It simply drives it’s lane without “thinking” twice. It just rams the player if it can’t take over that has nothing to do with A.I.

And then the player gets a penalty because the A.I is too stupid.

If you haven’t experienced it yet, set it to a difficulty that matches you and then drive slowly on a straight long line. Like on Nordschleife, Road America, Le Mans etc.

They will hit you from behind because they are really really stupid.

I wish they were easier to spin out, act like they’re driving on a slot track. Would be nice to pit maneuver them. And the only reason why I wanted to spin the ai car was bc they tboned my psgr side and sent me off the track. And I get a 5 second penalty.

First few laps the 1st and 2nd placer is like 5-10seconds ahead of the pack. If you start in the back and hardest difficulty you really got your work cut out for you running them down. But I enjoy the challenge.

While AI was improved in Update 12, it still has numerous issues that need to be sorted out. I’m thinking about making a list of tracks and corners which AI handles worse than most (i.e. where ramming and unnecessary braking happens most often). Perhaps we’ll see more significant improvements quicker if T10 knows where to focus their attention?

Use club rules. You only get penalties for track cutting. It takes away tire wear but o well you probably won’t wear out your tires in a career match and even if you did the ai probably won’t wear out their tires. Just don’t cheese with soft tires or ping-ponging off ai drivers.

The AI is set up to get around the same time every lap, this means on the first lap they get a little boost to get that time. what amazes me is how improve they get from practice to race. they could be upwords of 5 seconds per lap faster during the race than they are during practice.

Still subjecting yourself to the pain of the campaign? You don’t need to play it anymore thanks to the challenge hub. Jump online

Just surprised to you make a thread of what’s been a very obviously poor aspect of the game since inception despite you being one of the most active users here

Interesting, where was this confirmed?

just what i noticed in the year i have been playing and through extensive testing.

also some of us can’t stand online gaming so the campaign is all we have.

First I’ve heard of it. How did you test it out?

after every lap i pause to see the times the AI get, almost always the first lap is their fastest, and almost always 4 or more seconds faster than their practice time.

I’ll have to check that out myself. Their collision detection is a major handicap when they’re packed together so I figured they would have faster laps as the race progresses and the back spreads.

i usually race with collisions off the account for that

I think they are having a difficult time with this ai. Its been almost a year since release, they said it was something they were going to start working on around jan-feb. I personally have seen little improvement in that time.

I never had an issue with the first place car pulling ahead as that is realistic to a point. They seemed to have adjusted this a bit as they dont pull away as fast, but to me this wasnt neccessary.

My issue is the fact that no other cars put up a fight with this lead car allowing it to get away while also slowing down the cars behind them. This is not realistic.

Another issue is there are usually 1-3 extremely aggressive ai and conversely 1-3 extremely passive ai to the point they’ll drive off the track if youre near them.

Theres also a few ai who drive slow on purpose the first couple of laps then pick up the pace, possibly to spread the field out, i dont really know. Then theres a handful of ai that will continually go off the track and wreck themselves lap after lap.

They obviously have an extremely narrow window of awareness with the player as well as eachother. They also still continue to take random lines before a corner which inevitably converge during the corner which leads to contact and/or slow downs.

They still arent effcted by rain on slick tires like the player is and they still arent effected by tire wear at all. Tire choice also has no effect as they can closely match the players times no matter what tire they are using.

It seems as though theres a major lack of processing power being dedicated to the ai. They are worse then theyve ever been in any forza imo. Since this ai is no doubt related to past games and now its worse i cant think of any other reason than this.

The lead ai car is indeed faster then in the past, but it seems like they can only have one car at a time do this. If you take out the lead ai car, the next in line will then start putting in faster laps then they were before. Its extremely artificial, because it is artificial and i dont know why it had to be this way.

If they arent going to give the required bandwidth necessary for 23 ai drivers, then they need to lower the number of opponents to allow them to function properly. Every racing games’ ai has some quirks but this ai is intolerable and frankly unacceptable.

There is a large number including me that never plays the game online. I like playing SINGLEPLAYER.

The rules don’t matter, it’s the bad pseudo A.I that is the problem.

Single player only for me too, I cant abide online racing, mainly because im not very good. Seriously though im not interested in online racing mode at all. :+1:

I am only very average if it comes to being speedy on the track. If I do rivals I am usually under the first 10-40% of the players. And I honestly don’t care about it. There are much worse drivers than me lol.
