PJ's Paints

Hello everyone.

I’m PJ and you may remember some of my work from Forza Motorsport 4 , Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horizon 3. I focus on original race designs and primarily paint the cars that I use most on-track.

Real name PJ Tierney, I was a freelance designer and illustrator before joining the videogame industry full-time in 2013 to work in Community Management, Social Media and Content Production. When I moved from Ireland to the UK for the job the only luxury items in my baggage at the time were my Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza Motorsport 4.

Prior to 2013 I was a freelance designer and illustrator, focusing primarily on motorsport-themed artwork. I’m probably most well-known in that regard for my Formula 1 Posters, as well as the Pocket Liveries blog, a collection of minimal mobile phone wallpapers based on famous racing designs. I’ve worked with people from Red Bull Racing and Top Gear Magazine and have had my work featured by various publications and websites over the past few years. I still create new projects when I have the time to do so, but as you can imagine I am very busy these days and don’t always have an opportunity to put the hours in to creating something from scratch. Forza fans may recognise the Horizon Festival Route Map I created in early 2018, a real-life map based on Forza Horizon 3’s Australia.

For me the Forza series has always been the perfect combination of my 2 main interests: creative work and motorsport. My first Forza title was Forza Motorsport 2 but I didn’t get heavily involved in the series until Forza Motorsport 4, when I pushed myself to become a better livery painter, tuner and racer. As a racer I am very competitive, and focus on being fast and clean, while also intending to be a formidable opponent in online lobbies. I have raced competitively in the past on numerous websites, culminating in over 300 organised races and 3 Realish Racing Drivers’ Championship titles. In 2018 I founded Casual Racing Mondays, a club for sensible and respectful drivers of all skill levels who meet up every week to race online.

If you want to take on my Drivatar or simply make it easier to find my designs feel free to follow my Gamertag; I look forward to seeing you all out on track. When I do race online it is primarily in the Multiplayer Hoppers, you are welcome to join at any time.

_____ Vinyl Groups _____

Any logos or Vinyl Groups that I create of a high enough standard to be shared can also be found by using the keyword PJT or my Gamertag. Feel free to download them for your own cars, or trace them so that you have your own unlocked versions. Each logo has been extensively researched so as to match the real logo’s colours and dimensions as best as possible. I have also written a guide on my creation method.

Looking forward to seeing your F7 designs PJ, and great logo work

Thanks for the kind words.

Designs are up now, so have a look

PJTierney,

Can you please make the Rio GP livery on the #18 M&M’s Camry NASCAR? Thanks.

Hey there.

Right now I’m not porting designs to other cars as I would like to focus on new paints first, but once I do start porting I’ll keep this request in mind.

On the plus-side all of the Rio GP logos are available to download, so if you want to have a go yourself you’re welcome to try

I did that in Forza 6, but it wasn’t perfect.

Awesome stuff in here already PJ…

Can’t wait to see more.
You’re my second followed creator as of now!

Will any of ur newer designs be avalible for older games?

Wow someones been busy…nice work PJ. Keep them coming

{ION}

Most likely not as logos are often created in the newer games and cannot be ported backwards. There’s a small chance for new Forza Horizon 3 designs as I may end up using its editor for logos (the new editor is broken at the moment) but other than that I tend to focus on the latest title.

Will do

Hi mate, would you attempt a Minnie Mouse paint on the 1960’s Mini for me please? We’re friends on XBL since a while back and i like racing you on rivals. I’ll gift you something as payment once AH launches. Feel free to converse via XBL message as it’ll be easier. Hope you don’t mind this request?

Awesome work as always. I’ll be picking up a few.

Pj, some great looking paints in here already. Will be grabbing some of these for sure and look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

Hey there, I remember you from the lobbies back in Forza Motorsport 4

Right now I won’t be taking requests as I have 8 cars I want to paint and can only manage 1-2 a week at best.

Looking a what you want done I think it’d be better suited to a fantasy painter as they are much better with characters than I am.
Have a look at the various paint threads and you’ll find the right person, sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Thanks for the kind words as always guys.

First winner of the new game

absolutely faithful designs man!
congratulations for your victory with this magnificent Porsche RIO.

Here’s a new one:

2015 Ultima #18 Canon Evolution Coupe 1020

Another winner

It’s not as hard as you think; the white layer between the 2 blocks of red is actually a solid block of colour.

To give an example, make a square size 1.00/1.00.
Stamp it and change colour.
Make the new shape 0.94/0.94.
Stamp that and change back to original colour.
Make the new shape 0.88/0.88

That’s the basic theory, just apply it multiple times across a complex shape.

I’m fine with cars for now, although I wouldn’t say no if Turn 10 asked me to design a race suit for the game

Thanks

That’s so well executed… looks awesome! But from a painter’s perspective, all I can think of when I look at it is “man. that thin little line around the hood, canopy, then back up the back spline had to be a huge pita”. LOL
Again, nice job PJ.

You are super creative PJ. I like to paint as well. No where near your talent though. I wish T10 would make the race suits customizable. I would really love A Louis Hamilton Suit LOL!

So many amazing designs… I know what I need to search for the next time I log on the game!
