PJ's Paints

Hello everyone.

I’m PJ and you may remember some of my work from Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7. I focus on original and “tribute” race designs, primarily painting the cars that I use most in-game.

Real name PJ Tierney, I was a freelance designer and illustrator before joining the videogame industry full-time in 2013 to work in Community Management, Social Media and Content Production. When I moved from Ireland to the UK for the job the only luxury items in my baggage at the time were my Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza Motorsport 4.

Prior to 2013 I was a freelance designer and illustrator, focusing primarily on motorsport-themed artwork. I’m probably most well-known in that regard for my Formula 1 Posters, as well as the Pocket Liveries blog, a collection of minimal mobile phone wallpapers based on famous racing designs. I’ve worked with people from Red Bull Racing and Top Gear Magazine and have had my work featured by various publications and websites over the past few years. I still create new projects when I have the time to do so, but as you can imagine I am very busy these days and don’t always have an opportunity to put the hours in to creating something from scratch. Forza fans may recognise the Horizon Festival Route Map I created in early 2018, a real-life map based on Forza Horizon 3’s Australia.

For me the Forza series has always been the perfect combination of my 2 main interests: creative work and motorsport. My first Forza title was Forza Motorsport 2 but I didn’t get heavily involved in the series until Forza Motorsport 4, when I pushed myself to become a better livery painter, tuner and racer. As a racer I am very competitive, and focus on being fast and clean, while also intending to be a formidable opponent in online lobbies. I have raced competitively in the past on numerous websites, culminating in over 300 organised races and 3 Realish Racing Drivers’ Championship titles. In 2018 I founded Casual Racing Mondays, a club for sensible and respectful drivers of all skill levels who meet up every week to race online.

If you want to take on my Drivatar or simply make it easier to find my designs feel free to follow my Gamertag; I look forward to seeing you all out on track. When I do race online it is primarily in the Multiplayer Hoppers, you are welcome to join at any time.

Any logos or Vinyl Groups that I create of a high enough standard to be shared can also be found by using the keyword PJT or my Gamertag. Feel free to download them for your own cars, or trace them so that you have your own unlocked versions. Each logo has been extensively researched so as to match the real logo’s colours and dimensions as best as possible. I have also written a guide on my creation method.

I just read your guide you posted last year on making liveries so I’m new to your work. You do truly amazing work and it’s inspiring to see a professional work on stuff for a video game. I am a student of Web Development and can’t wait to try out some designs of my own!

I’m using your design on my 17’ GT-R.
Amazing work!

As soon as I get the Radical I will use your design there, too.

Any chance for a design for the Escort RS?

Thanks for the kind words, and for considering me a professional.

Thanks for trying them out.

I have plans to paint the '92 Escort RS Cosworth soon, got a few other designs to get through first.

2 new works:

That Senna looks really nice and i really like your Manx too, look forward to getting that. And it does need to be said how professional and well presented your threads always are, it’s a really nice touch.

Thanks :+1:

2 more designs coming later today.

You have some amazing liveries there. I am absolutely in love with that Charger.

Thanks

The Charger was fun, haven’t done a muscle car before and I’ve been painting for about 7 years.

Awesome collection PJ! Really love them all, something about the way you lay your designs out is so neat and crisp. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I love that Motul GT-R, BWT Audi and you know that the Charger is totally my speed. Great crack at a retro livery! Keep 'em coming. I’ve got you followed and I’m excited for more from you.

Thanks as always Ace :slightly_smiling_face:

I wanted to up the presentation this time round as I felt that was lacking previously. Takes a bit more effort but it feels like it’s worth it.

Very nice job here. Your ability to create original vintage appearing liveries is amazing. Great job on that one my friend.

Quality as usual PJ! Will grab the Ben Sherman Sprite for sure

Like the design graphics!
Not worked one out yet but yours is clean and tidy!

Thanks Ace :+1:t2:

Thanks for the kind words, that was a fun little car to paint :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks AB, I figured I’d go for something a little more cohesive this time than simply sharing raw photos.

The escort and charger are the cats PJamas. See what I did there
Seriously though great, clean paints as usual

Amazing work. Just pure awesome.

I really love the JVC Escort. I’ve used many of those cassettes in the past and your livery is awesomely creative with the VHS ribbon stripes
