PI Ranking

I apologize if this has been previously covered or if I am posting this in the wrong place.

I have been playing for years, but the PI system never makes sense. Recently I have began to question a few more aspects and hope that the Forza Community may have an answer.

  1. If I go to my garage and filter by class in Forza 7, am I to assume the car at the very top of my list according to class is the best vehicle that I have tuned under that specific class?

  2. Rolling off of question 1, when I go into an online SABC Hopper, what is the logic behind what vehicle Forza automatically choses from my garage when the class switches?

  3. Does any of this have to do with lap times that I have set with those vehicles?

Hello, I believe I have the answers to your questions so here we go:

  1. No. Forza’s code does not analyze ‘best’ as that varies from track to track. I believe it’s sorted by year, new to old

  2. I believe it chooses the last car you were in in whatever class it chooses for you

  3. No. Every time it chooses a car for me it has been a car that I have driven before in that class and it is whatever one I drove last. However, it sometimes goes to a car that I drove a long time ago so it may sometimes take time to register that or maybe just forgets it

So, I have a 1990s M3 in A Class, but that is at the top of the list when I sort by Class and then A, in my garage. I have an early 2000’s NSX which is much faster. Yet, the M3 is always at the top of the list. Both cars are maxed to A600.

Could Tuning play a role on how high up a car is listed?

I really don’t think so. Rayne’s answer is probably the answer to this question as well.

On 2:

For the class hoppers it always chooses the car you have driven the most in this specific class. For example everytime I enter R-Class without an R-car it provides me with my R900 Lykan Hypersport because it’s my most used car on R.

It’s very hard to balance the PI system because you have to take into account so many variables such as top speed, braking, handling, downforce, acceleration, launch, power, torque, weight, the list goes on. This is why I’m more of a fan of the homologation, though that needs tweaking as well honestly.
