Question for developers? Why we cannot turn off the headlights in photomode just like we can do it in FM6 and FM7?
No headlights off option and where is panning mode?
Up
I agree with this. The main reason I play Forza games is for the photography aspect. I don’t enjoy the core games much and so I didn’t play 7, and was looking forward to playing with the panning mode in Horizon when it was added to FM7. I was disappointed to find out it didn’t make it over to FH4. It just seems like the photo mode from FH3 still.
There also appear to be strange graphical artifacts related to tree draw distance, as shown by Pebb here:
Hopefully something can be done about all of these, but especially the panning and headlights options… Why remove features?
Well said nuvo, I really hope that More of the photomode community will post in here
The graphics glitch/spots is just awful and has really put a downer on this for me coupled with like nuvo said takeing away features like panning and the headlight switch
great job making a beautiful game but why limit photomode
Having issues on the pixels side is never a good sign. The cross hatching, gaps between pixels or what other term you want to use will hamper people’s creativity. Also with the advacments that were made with Xbox One gave Turn 10 had a chance to take photomode to the next level. Sure an extra panning mode is nice. But after seeing how the original creators of photomode took photomode to the next level in Gran Turismo Sport. I feel Turn 10 and Playground Games has missed an opportunity.
Anyway while it might be a while, before Microsoft and Turn 10 look into investing time and money into improving things that can match their competitors in a range of areas. One being PD’s in house graphical tech for use in GT Sport that’s similar to ray tracing, which helps to make cars & shadows look more realistic. Turn 10 and PG can do some less time consuming things that can add to photomode.
[Features - Add to Photomode]
*Moveable Auto Focus without moving the camera.
*If 2-3 cars are doing different speeds allow us focus on all three cars.
*More Zoom, Increase Camera Travel Vertically and Horizontal
*Turn off Headlights
*Hide Driver or Drivers
*No Clip || Such a feature would help with interior shots.
*Portrait Mode with three options 1:1, 3:2, 16:9
*Landscape Modes, 1:1, 3:2, 16:9
*Certain objects and effects in the distance do not vanish with a medium to long zoom. || If such a thing affects performance on Xbox One, restrict increased draw distance to photomode via a toggle feature.
*In offline mode we could make use of an option to open a range of things on our cars…
*Save replays from online races, online modes and online custom route races || Having such an option would allow people to capture some fabulous shots from online meets.
I hope that they look at this post because they know how big is photo community here and I hope that they make update with this feature.
After not getting any notifications to tell me Ralph Fulton, Playground Games or both didn’t look at my previous tweet showing an unacceptable graphical error on the trees. I thought it was time to send Ralph Fulton a new tweet showing him some sheep affected by the same issue.

Thanks Pebb for your support. I hope that they will see headlights/panning options in photomode ass well.
I would very much like to see these issues sorted, considering FM7 does not have them. FH3 never had control over headlights; we got the ability to reset the focused car’s damage instead, which is also useful. Why was it only one or the other?
I just wish we had a range of options; this game has the best foundation for photography of any of the recent racing games, but a good foundation is nothing if you won’t build upon it and improve things that have gotten worse in the last, uh, 11 months? when did FM7 come out? GT Sport’s photos are very good, but you’re extremely limited in terms of where you can actually go. FH4 won’t have that problem, but it might not matter if every perfect shot is ruined by some PS2-era object transparency. Please don’t make me buy a rival game just for photos
It was very encouraging to see Turn10 finally, after years, putting effort into improving photo mode last year. It’s a real shame for everyone to just admit it’s actually a throwaway feature nobody cares about, only a year or so later. Why has it gone backwards?

I just wanted to make it explicitly clear that my complaint is NOT that this game is not as pretty as GT Sport. GT Sport photos look very good but there are other compromises made there to achieve them which I’d not like to see Forza make. And I feel that discussing those here is taking away from the focus of this thread. I would rather see the issues in this thread fixed before we start brainstorming ways to improve photos in future, or else they’ll think we’re just whinging and moaning and refuse to fix anything

I dunno where you’re going with that stuff pebb
I’ve tweaked my latest post some more.
Yeah I don’t think this is the place for things like that pebb. We’re here to ask for a headlight switch and panning mode, not to speculate on the eventual downfall of the developers because they don’t care very much about photography or the people who buy their games for it
I have removed both of my posts. But in the long run I want the best for the community. And because of that there is no harm in asking for them to study their rivals.
However before they bring over some features from FM7’s photomode. We need the main graphical glitch to be corrected, first and foremost since it limits what people can create.
What are you playing on? What are your video settings?
