Drone simulation, obviously.
First: there’s a topic on drone mode already here, so this will probably be moved.
Second: my guess is it will have more options in the full game for recording and taking photos.
Will we be able to open doors and hoods in drone mode or photo mode? How cool would it be to take photos with the lambo doors open.
What is the point of a drone in real life?
To take photos and record! It is a really/useful addition if you ask me!
I think #57 is implying there are no options for recording or taking pictures. As of now, the only way to record or take a picture is to double tap the guide button and pres ‘X’ or ‘Y’ to record or save a screenshot and the drone is only there for flying. In all honesty, if we don’t get in-game options to do this, I don’t really see the point of it either. Pictures can be taken through photo mode, which end up way better looking than drone mode since the height is very limited and it’s constantly shaking. I hope they at least added an option to record in the full game, watch the videos and even remove (maybe edit?) them. It would be ridiculous if we constantly had to double tap the guide button just to record it …
You probably will be able to in the full game.
Notice how in Photo Mode, you can take a picture, but you can’t save it to anything, hence why you need to take screenshots. I feel that it’ll be the same with Drone Mode both in terms of recording and picture taking.
Most professional YouTubers have additional recording hardware for this, and early adopters will be using ‘Hey Cortana, Record That’ to get gameplay footage without hitting the guide button. Plus I’m pretty sure you can still snap Game DVR to record up to a full 5 minutes in one go.

The only useful acivity i found so far for the drone is finding barn finds which then apear on the map with a icon.
Horizon 3 is utter joy to play. I have just one request: please make the drone fly higher.
Hey everyone. I noticed in the demo that other players can’t see your drone. Is this any different in the full game? could this be resolved in a later update? Or is this something that would be too difficult to implement?

The drone mode is a very cool mini game feature, however, being limited to 6 feet off the ground makes it a total bummer… Why can’t it go higher? I don’t understand the point in it being so low…
Has T10/PGG addressed this at all?

Please don’t take any of this as complaints but rather constructive criticism.
Drones: the new addition of the drone mode is greatly appreciated… that being said there are some serious flaws.
- drones are known for flying… yet in the game they can barely hover a maximum of 7 feet…?
- even if we are forever stuck barley hovering just above the cars, there is another really odd phenomenon that takes place when it comes to altitude… say you are flying your drone through the outback, following your friends as they jump from dune to dune… you might notice as the cars have the ability to fly through the air from the top of one dune all the way to the top of another… your drone however does not. It will get to the top of the first dune and as your friends car leaves the ground and your drone will stay the ‘X’ amount of feet above the ground, causing the drone to dip and drop according to the distance between it and the ground… (at least make the drop smooth and gradual rather than jarring and abrupt).
- yet again another issue i have with the drone is the invisible barriers… with that cars i get it… but with the drone? Just feels like the drone deserves a little more freedom. For example when leaving Byron Bay heading north on the Great Ocean Road is a beautiful coastal road where you have breathtaking views… however due to the confined barriers in which the drone is forced to work within you won’t have any opportunities to capture anything remotely as gorgeous as some of the scenes in the game trailer.
- enough drone talk please! Haha only other thing i would like to see is maybe a locking feature where we can lock the camera on a specific car and then we can focus on flying and angles rather than just trying to keep the cars in the shot (smoothly). Lastly it would be kinda cool to be able to see the drones of others as they follow you.
