I made a petition on change.org directed at Turn 10 to feature hosting public user created lobbies in Forza Motorsport 6. This is something that the community has wanted, no matter what type of motorsport they enjoy. Please do not suppress, lock, or delete this thread, as it would be directly contradictive to what the community desires and would ruin the element of collaboration on the forum and the free speech that we need to promote positive change. It should only take a few seconds to sign, and will hopefully go a long way in convincing the turn 10 developers that this is a feature that we abolutely need to enjoy Forza 6 to the fullest.
If you support this effort, please bump this thread by replying in some type of way to keep this message near the top. If everyone can come together and collaborate to this message all in one place, I firmly believe that we can see this feature implemented into Forza Motorsport 6 before its release.
But what about a game like Battlefield? You can look through the list of lobbies and join any. I feel it’s just that they want to cater to everyone so they make it for casual players to go online and just race, since that was Turn10s reasoning
Battlefield rejected the use of MS servers for other reasons and therefore they can do what they like.
Their logic was they needed a solution that suited Battlefield across multiple platforms so they went their own way.
Sorry but you are trying to come up with reasoning yourself. I could do that too.
What I know is what I linked to in the other thread and I can also say that it is likely that an MS family developer is more likely to stick with in house infrastructure.
That’s a bummer. I guess we won’t be seeing public lobbies until maybe the Xbox Two comes out If we can’t have public lobbies than I hope for the leagues it will put you in a queue until it’s full and the race starts. I hate going to a hopper game in Forza 5 since usually I have to wait quite a bit of laps for the next race and by the time the next race is starting I for some reason get kicked out.
Is Big W0RM 80 a developer or turn 10 associate? If not, this sounds like nothing but a rumor to me. This is one person saying one thing, which is unconfirmed to me. It could be true, who knows.
But regardless of any information about how or why they can or cannot support publicly hosted user created lobbies, the bottom line is that they will lose consumers if they do not support this feature. And at the end of the day, they plan to sell this game to you, they are a business. And if they lose consumers because they don’t support particular features, it defeats the entire point of creating a business centered around selling games.
Well, Turn 10 was a Microsoft company during the release of Forza 4, which supported this server architecture. Likewise for Forza 2. In fact they have been a microsoft studio since 2001 when the original Forza was being created. Since then, they have supported this functionality multiple times, in multiple forza titles.
Also, in an interview with MotorWorldHype, Dan said that they were not going to implement public user created lobbies because they were, I quote “focusing everything on this league system”. Which is more of a dodge than anything and infers that this was a decision that they chose to do instead of supporting a publicly hosted server architecture, rather than them being forced to do anything. Remember that Turn 10 IS a Microsoft studio not a 3rd party studio cooperating with them. They made the decision to support publicly hosted user created lobbies in the near past, and multiple times over the coarse of the Forza franchise.
The bread and butter of this entire petition is to explain to Turn 10 that many consumers will decide to not purchase this game if this feature is not supported. These games are supposed to be built around what the consumer desires. They can blame any conflict they want, but at the end of the day, they will lose sales to many consumers by not supporting some of the most important features to the forza franchise. Whether or not Microsoft is disabling them from adding this feature, is their problem. The bottom line is that they will lose consumers by not supporting this feature and this petition is a reminder of that.
I have signed your petition but sorry the post above is naïve in many ways.
First of all FM4 is irrelevant. It was on different servers. All that is relevant here is that no Xbox One game on the official MS servers have searchable lobbies. That is due to MS.
Secondly given that Dan / Turn 10 have to come up with something within those boundaries and they have to sell it. So Dan is bound to talk up the leagues. That is his attempt to come up with a workable solution within the boundaries he has to work within.
Lastly Turn 10 do not need convincing of this. They know. They can not change it. They can not go to MS and force them to implement a different server system. What needs to happen is MS need to get this message from us not Turn 10. I am sure that Turn 10 and SMS for Project Cars would love searchable lobbies. But its not going to happen until MS are convinced of the need to change.
Changing a 300,000 server farm to work differently is not something that will happen by clicking our fingers or by Turn 10 clicking their fingers.
If you do not ask the right people you will never get the right response and I say this with the best intentions ie for you to get what you and the community want.
can you change the petitioning from T10 too MS because it’s too do with MS servers set up the potition is pointless I think Dan mentiond something about it some where that they can’t do it but good luck with it though.
Turn 10 is an establishment of Microsoft. They have implemented this server structure multiple times. Turn 10 is the team that is developing the actual production code around this title and the way they use Microsoft’s servers is a matter of choice to them. Very little needs to change from their multiplayer structure. They already support privately hosted user created lobbies, which already use and take advantage of Microsoft’s server architecture. The only thing they need to create is a publicly accessible list that shows the currently hosted public user created lobbies, and allow people to join them. The same way they did in Forza 4. This is a developer choice, therefore I am petitioning the developers to hopefully change their mind and support this lobby architecture.
