Personal Opinion: The Rip Rod PVP Multiplayer Unlock Requirement is unfair to Special Needs Users

Well, I have just seen from one of Your Moderators that the Rip Rod, a Season Exclusive Car that is currently locked behind a PVP Event, is not going to be Gifted out to all Users.

I am Personally beyond Disgusted at that Decision, in fact it now has Me Questioning the Games Suitability for Me. I am not normally a Negative user , not in the Slightest, but I also Personally feel there is a Potential Inadvertent/Unintentional lack of consideration for Special Needs users that needs, in My Personal Opinion, to be Addressed right now.

Many People on the Autism Spectrum, Myself Included, Suffer from Social Anxiety issues, this Makes us Completely and Totally unable to Cope with the Extremely Toxic and Aggressive Nature of PVP/PVE Multiplayer.

This means we are currently unable to get our Hands on the Rip Rod (as there is no sign of Any coming up for Sale in the Auction House) or any other Content that has been locked up Behind Multiplayer (such as the Black Modern Racing Helmet) Unless it is Gifted out.

As a Result of the Decision to not Gift out the Rip Rod, I am now Potentially unable to acquire that Content for the Time Being , Content that, in My Personal Opinion at Least, I have Paid for with the Purchase of the Game and am thus, in My Own Personal Opinion, Entitled to unlock via Progression in the Offline Single Player Mode!

Until the content is Eventually Recycled as Single Player Reward Content or Placed into the Wheelspins after an Undisclosed amount of Time, people who are unable to cope with PVP/PVE Multiplayer are Potentially unable to Acquire it, all because We are unable to cope with Online Gaming :frowning:

This is not Fair at all in My Personal Opinion.

So I wish to know why you have chosen not to gift out the Rip Rod, or, for that matter, why you chose to lock it up behind PVP in the First Place? as it has unfortunately Meant that I, and many other Users with Social Anxiety issues, have been locked out of Getting this Car for the Time Being.

In My Own Personal Opinion You are being Extremely Unfair to People, Myself Included, who cannot Mentally Cope with PVP/PVE Multiplayer by locking Season Exclusive Rewards behind the Online Multiplayer Feature.

I Sadly now have to Question, once Again, if this Game is actually even Suitable for Me because of My Disabilities , and I think things have come to a Very Pretty Pass indeed when I am forced to Question if a PEGI 3 Rated Car Racing Game is actually Suitable for Me due to its Focus on Online Multiplayer! :frowning:

Once again, I a consider Myself left without a Choice but to Humbly Request that You at Playground Games kindly make the Rip Rod and other Previous Online Only Rewards available as either Single Player Rewards or available in the Forzathon Shop at the Earliest Possible Opportunity so those of us on the Spectrum can Acquire those Items! and, again, I must Request that You at Playground Think about those of us who cannot Mentally Cope with the Extremely Aggressive/Toxic Nature of Online Gaming due to our Social Anxiety issues and, Tragically all too often, School Bullying Related Trauma Issues, in Future and that You Kindly Stop locking content up behind Multiplayer and make all Season Exclusive Rewards unlockable purely in Single Player starting with Series 6 if that is at all Possible!

I must also, once Again wonder Why You at Playground Games are locking so Much In Game Content up Behind Forced Multiplayer, as such as System is Not Suitable for a lot of Autistic Players in My own Personal Opinion :frowning:

I can tell you one thing however, and if this Gets Me into trouble for “Excessive Negativity” then so be it, as I feel that this really needs to be Said. if Forcing users to Play Multiplayer in order to get all the Games Content is the “Future” of Forza, then I will not be Purchasing another Forza Motorsport/Horizon Game again, as the Franchise will simply just Not be Suitable for Me anymore due to My Disabilities. :frowning:

I am Extremely Sorry I have had to make this Post, but, I think it needs to be Said to, Hopefully, get You at Playground to think about those of us with Autism who cannot cope with PVP/PVE Multiplayer and stop locking up Exclusive Content behind it in Future.

Thank You for Your Time, and I am extremely Sorry that I have been made to feel that I have to make such an Angry and Negative Post about a Game I have otherwise enjoyed Immensely over the Past 5 Months.

Well a lot of people are locked out from getting PvP rewards for a number of reasons, mostly because people hate the online in FH4 and feel it is badly implemented. I’m one of them so I know how you feel but I don’t think you should be using your disability to leverage your point. That seems unfair to me.

I am not using My Disability to Leverage the Point, well, at least not Intentionally, and I am very sorry if that is what I have accidentally Done. :frowning:

I just want Playground to make the Game more Fair for People who cannot cope with Online Multiplayer, such as those of us with Disabilities, and I just don’t see how I can point out to Playground that the current system is unfair on Some People, without bringing Up My own Personal Disabilities, as that is why the System is currently Unfair for Me Personally, and for Several People I know Personally.

If you have any Suggestions for Re-Editing the post so I am no longer Inadvertently using My Disability to Leverage the Point, then Please let Me know and I will Implement them, as it is not My Intention to use My Disability to Leverage a Point at all.

On the Plus Side, if I can convince Playground to stop locking up content behind Multiplayer, even if I do have to accidentally Weaponise My Disability a bit, the whole Community is going to benefit from no longer having to use a part of the Game that It appears an awful lot of people Really Dislike! and Helping the Forza Community to get a better Gaming Experience is surely the whole Point of these Forums

Uh Oh what? can you Elaborate what is wrong Please?

I have to agree with the OP but for a different reason.
If a prize is made available for around 1 or 2% of the game users………….is that fair?
Why not let the ones who are incapable of getting it for a whole variety of reasons buy the very rare cars but with a totally different colour which cannot be altered with tokens (micro transactions)?

It is just a thought as I will never be able to win on Expert or Above, and I have been playing since FM2/TDU, if I try until doomsday (ability and health grounds!)

Given that one person will win out of a lobby of 12 then 8.3% of people who make 1 half-hearted attempt will win it. A new chance to win occurs every 10 minutes for 7 days straight. That makes 1008 opportunities that everyone has equally. I won on my fifth try. Everyone plays by the exact same in-game rules. This is the very definition of fair.

Except people who can play with manual or manual w/clutch - they get an artificial speed boost.

Sounds like you’ve made it to 9000.

Those people had to learn how to do that. Everyone else has the opportunity to do the same. It’s like being upset that someone got an mvp trophy in the nba and saying that you should get one too because you bought a ball and a hoop.

If I were upset, it’d be more like being upset that someone got an MVP trophy in the NBA because they were juiced up on steroids.

Oh, so now you’re accusing anyone who wins of cheating? You really wonder why people are sick of all of this whining?

See my previous post. Manual is provably artificially faster. I’m sorry if you use manual and the fact that it is artificially boosted bruises your ego, but it’s still a fact. And thus, going with the sports metaphor for artificially boosted abilities was apropos.

A recognised disability is just one example of a more general variation in ability. Some people have less ability than others, even if they don’t have a recognised disability. So the argument is really that the game shouldn’t have any elements that aren’t available to all players of all abilities. For example, everyone should be able to get #1 on every leaderboard because it’s not fair that only those with the greatest ability can enjoy being at #1 on a leaderboard. But what happens then is that those with higher levels of ability don’t like the fact that the game doesn’t give them any reward for having greater ability. So the game has to strike a balance, and have different things accessible at a wide range of abilities. The Rip Rod is just an example of something that has been chosen to only be made available to people towards the higher end of the ability level. It’s certainly not the hardest thing in the game to obtain, e.g. very few people are able to obtain the rewards for reaching Grandmaster rating, I’m not personally too upset that I’m not good enough at online gaming to achieve that.

My personal opinion.
With the lack of freeroam as we knew it from previous titles it seems to be pretty much a single player environment for most things, all seasonal events should therefore be able to be done in solo mode with multiplayer an option if anyone wishes to do it that way. Previously FH3 challenges were to win a championship, your choice if it was online or whatever - just win one. That way everyone is catered for, a much better way to do it which wont affect those unable to compete at a global scale for whatever reason. That was fun!

Inexperienced is a disability in PVP
I am not disabled, but I am inexperienced as a racer, in order for me to win any championship the opposition needs to be set to average, not to aggressive idiots with shared tunes they cant handle.
In the other challenge I did manage to beat expert drivertars for the race suit but it took me hours and was not fun at all - I actually, believe it or not bought the game to have fun!

The reason I am not a good racer and never will be is because I despise circuit racing, I am a drag racer in real life with a love for custom cars and that is the aspect of this game that drew me here in the first place, so I thought this challenge would actually be fun - OMG was I wrong.

First up my tunes were good enough but the competition just ram you constantly just as they did in FH3 at the meeting place, I left it for a few days and had another go only to have the game tell me my C600 was now a B603 and not allow me to use it, then for some reason allowed me into the race in a B class car? why I dont know but after 3 races demanded I purchase a new car and ended it.
Then there was the barriers in front of the cars to ruin that race and to top it off because I’m new there is always updates to my map and the ridiculous game feels the need to update the map as soon as I hit a certain level right in the middle of a race, it actually stopped my race to show me some new danger signs…as everyone kept racing. LOL
In the end out of frustration I quit and never won the rip rod - yeah fun right.

Disabilities, lack of experience, short attention spans, age and any other reason aside the event was broken & riddled with problems from other players - the option for solo mode would have covered all the bases for everyone and made the event fun which is why we all bought it in the first place - FUN

For this to be fun and actually have anything to do with drag racing it needed to be different:
Drag racing is a combination of gear ratios based on track length, power and traction so for 4 tracks of varying lengths / traction we need to have 4 tunes and the ability to change them as required.
Meaning even for someone who`s life revolves around drag racing the event was still not fun to participate in.

I truly feel for you as you have no chance of fun or satisfaction and agree something needs to be done about it, not only for people with disabilities but also those who just want to have fun - we all paid for the game and are all entitled to win all of the cars and set our own career paths at our own levels as we choose to suit our own needs / satisfaction levels.

MTX would not be a good idea Berniev, especially with how Hostile the Majority of Gamers are to them. and with Several Governments considering taking Action against MTX as well as Lootboxes.

The Easiest way to Make very Rare Cars Acquirable, IMO, is to put them into the Forzathon Shop! that is, at least according to the Early Pre Launch Live Streams, one of the reasons it was Added in the First Place after all, to make Extremely Rare Cars easier to Acquire.

Also, Breeminator, I see where you are coming from there, the difference is, You CAN play Online, so You at least have a chance of Getting the Rip Rod its very Slim, but its still there! ,

However, as I CANNOT Play Online, not without being put into the Kind of Complete and Total utter Meltdown that will see Me bite My own Hands until they Bleed, at which point I will be totally banned from Playing the Game by My Parents as they will class it as Unsuitable and Remove It (and they are not Strict either, there Rules are I can play Any Game I want, its why I have a lot of 18 Rated Games… but as Soon as it causes a Meltdown, it gets Removed, no its no Buts!) So I have No chance of ever getting the Rip Rod. So I don’t personally consider the System Balanced or Fair at all!

You See, for Me, locking up a Car behind a Very Challenging task in the Offline Single Player, such as winning a Championship at Expert Difficulty, that is actually Fair, its BS, but Fair! as at least I have a Chance of Unlocking that Car, it May not be able to get it, as Expert is a bit beyond My Skill level Sometimes, but I Still have a chance of Getting it!

When a Car is locked up behind MP, I have no chance of Getting that Car at all! and its That which I Personally find to be Extremely Unfair!

I am not asking Playground to give Players a Bugatti Divo just for Pressing the A Button, as that would be even Worse than the Current System, I am just asking that all Gamers, regardless of ability, are given a Chance to unlock the Games Seasonal Content by having it so it is Purely Attainable in the offline Single Player.

As you need to be Extremely Good to Win a Championship at Expert, especially against Class S1 and S2 Cars (as the Drivatars become totally OP at that Level, with Acceleration and Speed to Rival Thunderbird 1 and with Slot car Cornering to Boot!) it still means only Players of the Highest Level of Ability are going to get the Car, but ALL Players will have the Chance to get it! which is more fair than a System were Players, regardless of how Skilled they May be in the Offline Single Player, have No Chance at ALL to get a Car, because it is locked up Behind a Game Mode, PVP/PVE Multiplayer that they, due to Disability, are completely Mentally Unable to Cope with.

Don’t give Me a Divo just for pressing the A Button, just give Me the chance to unlock it by connecting it to an Offline Single Player Challenge, that is ALL I ask.

Also, as I said Earlier, making it so Everything is unlocked via Single Player Progression would be a massive Help to the Forza Community In General, as seemingly No One likes the Games Multiplayer Component! so reducing it to just a “Nice Bonus” , instead of the whole Reason for the Games existence, IMO, would benefit the Entire Forza Community! Regardless of Ability

If that is the case, and I have no problem with them whatsoever, why not turn them into dlc (bog standard car) for £1.99 a pop?
The prize version could be a fixed livery with special tune.
Rock Band has used this model of paying for dlc on a weekly basis for years and it works there.
Whilst I am thinking, The Crew uses microtransactions so do a lot of the games like the one’s that G5 make (Hidden City, etc) so why should FH4 be any different?

Hopefully they will gift out the Hot Wheels Rip Rod to everyone like they having been gifting out other Exclusive cars in the recent weeks.

Well EvilBrain, I think you just put that absolutely Perfectly! and thank you So much for the Support and Empathy! as that Means a Lot to Me! I only Wish I could give You more than Just One Like.

Indeed, as You say, the Current System is not just Unfair for the Disabled, its Unfair for Everyone! which, if Anything, is even Worse!!

I agree entirely that Players should be given a choice if they want to do something On of Offline like We had in FH2/3.

Indeed, FH4 Really needs to Return to the Systems used in FH2/3 IMO as well, as the Current systems of Forced Multiplayer and Forced Expert Difficulty are just wrecking Peoples Fun, Regardless of their Abilities! As I said, it seems no one likes this Games Multiplayer! so it is really beyond Me why Playground is putting so much Focus on it, when surely it would be better to just Turn it off and make the Game Single Player only until the Issues with the Games Multiplayer Suite can be Fixed?

And you are Spot On! with all this Focus on Beating “Expert” AI (actually, I personally found the Mitsubishi Championship a Breeze, Maybe because I used Cars that were completely Factory Stock in that Series so the AI was also using Factory Stock (Class B) Cars? it was the Community Championship (class S2!) that Had Me screaming in Rage and Biting at My Arms :frowning: ) and Playing In MP means the Seasonal Championships, more often than Not, are No FUN at all! and, indeed, as You Ask, what IS the Point of a Game that Isn’t Fun.

Sadly, I still think FH2 was the best in the Series, and the Games have been Steadily Declining in Places since then! the only Reason I still Buy Horizon is because there is nothing Else like it anywhere Else! its Unique! and its Still absolutely Brilliant when its Firing on all Cylinders and isn’t being Weighed down by Forced PVP or Forced Expert Difficulty in the Seasonal Championships.!

Playground, IMO, needs to put the Series on Hiatus until at least 2021 for a full Re-Evaluation before they launch FH5 so we don’t get another Title with as Many issues as 4 has. I don’t think I have ever seen a Horizon Game garner so much Negativity!

FH5, IMO, should be an Offline Single Player Focussed (but still with a Full Multiplayer Suite! Hmm Possible Tagline "The Single Player Game with Full Multiplayer Features?) “Games as a Good” Car Racing Themed RPG. As Horizon 1, I note, had a lot of RPG-Lite Mechanics that a lot of People really Enjoyed and Maybe are due a Comeback! a Single Player offline Focussed Version of TDU with Horizons Handling and feel? Sign. Me. Up!

Sadly, FasterthanFTL, Playground have confirmed they are not gifting out the Rip Rod, its why I created this Thread :frowning: Hopefully they will change their Minds…or at Least put it in the Forzathon Shop Next in Game Summer…but I wont hold My breath I am afraid.
